Modding help/question
« on: April 19, 2012, 12:21:36 pm »

How can I import civs/creatures from one mod to another? Ive played these two mods extensively and basically want to adventure mode as one race from one in the other.

I want to play masterwork here, and add in some of the races from:

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=95891.150

I want to play as one of those and run around being powerful and killing goblins and stuff >:3

What txts would I need to copy over? Is it that simple?

You'll need to locate and copy over several things. First, the creature entries for the race from the MLP mod. Second, the entity entries for the civilization from the MLP mod. And third, any any all equipment entries that are used by the entity from the MLP mod that don't exist in the MW mod. If the mods are done right, those things should all be in separate files that you can simply add into the raws, and there then shouldn't be any conflicts. If they're not done right, it'll be more difficult for you, because you'll need to go through several individual text files, find the relevant entries, and copy those into other text files before making sure there's no duplicate entry identification names.

You mostly should just be able to copy some creature_blah, entity_blah, and item_blah files over, though, since AFAIK those mods are both reasonably professionally-done with minimized potential conflicts.
