PEWPEWCHEWCHEW's Let's Play channel
« on: February 15, 2012, 11:01:15 pm »

So anyways feel free to share your thought, subscribe if you'd like.  So to get some conversation started I'm going to make a little FAQ about myself and making Let's Play videos.

1. What do you use to record your videos?
I use Fraps to record and MEGUI to encode my videos.
2. What are your specs?
I5 2500k
460 Gtx
8 Gb ram

3. Why do you think people watch Let's Plays?
I think it's because they want to see a game before they buy, or to get someone to teach them how to play. Of course some people may not be able to afford the game and will want to watch it instead. Personally I watch let's plays for single player games that I don't think are worth the cash.
4. How can I get my own channel started?
First off read about the different video encoders and recorders out there. I recommend Fraps but it has it's ups and downs. Pick a game that hasn't been Let's played and do one on that. That way you have a constant stream of views that will get you exposure and will hopefully net you some subscribers. Don't be discouraged if you're not getting tons of views each day, once you hit 1000 views a day things pick up momentum.
5.
How do you get preview copies of games?
I am sponsored in a sense. Companies will allow people to preview their games, it takes a a lot of dedication to watch 20 30 minute videos to experience a game, most people will go off some time during the middle of the LP, therefore the amount of sales lost is negligible compared to the amount of free advertising.

You seemed to of signed up solely to advertise Let's plays. Uhh.

Also, I watch and read LPs to watch people fail in horrible and hilarious ways. (and so I don't have to deal with linear storylines but mostly the hilarity)

Yeah... .to be honest I think this guy is kind of looking for the 'total biscuit' crowd. I also watch LP's to see someone elses view/journey through a game. Never have I watched an LP to 'learn' and while I have watched total biscuits attempt to review games sometimes, I don't really base my purchases on what anyone else says or use it as a tutorial.

Just quick info, people here really hate it when people sign up to advertise, I shouldn't think you'll get much trouble as its LP's and not BUY MY BOOK! or anything... but yeah beware.

On a good note, you've picked some good solid games that people have been looking forward too, personally I will watch the COE3 one as I love the original and Dominions 2&3!

*I like the length of the videos, few people do 40 minute previews, and this is only part 1. Liking it!
