Yeah, I'm pretty sure intentionally exposing someone's personal information > being an asshole on twitter. Not really much else to it. Insulting people for refunding a game doesn't actually do anything except maybe hurt people's feelings for a couple seconds and make you look like a dickhead. Doxing people has the potential to actually hurt them.

Have I ever fucking said anything on the morality of calling hundreds of people thieves. I don't care if he "deserves" to be doxxed.

I'm a pragmatist.  Is doxing someone bad?  Yes.  Should he known this would happen?  Yes.  Does that make it his fault?  Yes.

Like if I KS somebody in league of legends and he ragequits, that's a shitty thing of him to do, but I made the decision that led to it happening and I knew that it was a possible reaction. If I hadn't done it he wouldn't have ragequit.

He shouldn't have said that, but the responsibility for other peoples' actions lays solely with them. He's still an asshole, but the people doxxing him are also assholes. Independently.

People calling him an asshole are totally justified, though.

No, its Cthulhu's fault because he should have anticipated you would have posted this response.

Can you people just spam refund requests and be done with this game?  :P
Still waiting for my support ticket response, but I doubt it will work.

I get it. Doxxing people makes you Hitler. Being a self-serving game developer attacking people reacting to their bullshit does not.

Perhaps, if we take below quote in its general context (unless you meant exclusively by that as just doxxing).

Doing bad things to people is bad, m'kay?

I would assume that slander from another point of view is not as bad as doxxing, which is indeed true, but consider this: these people were led on by false advertising. Does that still make them thieves for wanting to refund their games?

-----------

On the subject of refunds, I can see this peculiar note that says:

The standard Steam refund policy applies to No Man's Sky. There are no special exemptions available. Click here for more detail on the Steam refund policy.

I suppose it's actually impossible to refund things now.

Yeah. Seems so many people are requesting refunds over this that they decided to trim it down

Stop projecting onto me a view that I haven't expressed. Just because I think doxing him is wrong doesn't mean that what he did was fine. Just because there's one asshole doesn't mean all other assholes are acceptable.

No projection needed. You've only been talking about one side of the issue.

This topic doesn't seem to bring out the best in people.  Not just this argument, but various arguments upthread.  Barring some turn of events, perhaps it should join My Little Pony in the forbidden zone.
