I have a world from DF 0.42.05. How to migrate to a new version?

What should I do if I want to have all new fixes (included in new version) in my 0.42.05 world?

Should I just copy save directory to a new version or I need to do more?

Unless you've modded, all you need to do to move to a new version is to copy the save over. Note that you still have to manually redo any top level adjustments, such as changes to population cap, siege size, announcements, etc. Keep the old DF version and the save just in case something DOES mess things up so you can go back. That doesn't happen often, though.

Also be aware that some things you may be used to still need to be updated to work with 42.06 (Dwarf Therapist, possibly DFHack).

DFHack ALWAYS needs to be updated to work with new versions.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I can't eat butchered food!
Could anyone know how to fix that?
Is it because world was created in v .05?

Also be aware that there may be some things that don't carry over cleanly.

For example, I recently xferred a fort from 42.04 to 42.06 and was spammed with "<mason> cancels task.  No access to hard non-economic rock." Even though there's a metric shit-ton of suitable stones lying around.

This was mainly from a workshop with "Make door <R>" although there were also a few similar complaints from Craftsdwarves Workshops.

All of these tasks were issued by the Job Manager so I went into JM and cancelled these tasks, replacing them at the end of the queue.

Once the tasks that had already been sent to the various workshops had been cancelled (along with attendant spam) and the 'new' tasks started filtering through everything went back to normal.

(I coulda gone into each workshop and cancelled those tasks but they were self-cancelling anyway and by this time I was pretty much inured to the spam.  [shrug])
