Had my first Revenant attack today. It lasted about half a minute because it attacked the person in their bedroom and the guy next door had a persona zeushammer, and that gave me enough time to get a guy with a charge LMG in the room too.

Turns out, they don't respond well to EMPs.

EDIT: Fun discovery, if a psychic scream from a creepjoiner knocks everyone out, the Man in Black event can fire. I just got a free colonist.

I discovered that Vehicle Framework is a thing, but I can't find any vehicle mods for it that aren't just big honkin' tanks besides Vanilla Expanded which I don't want to use.

If I could code, I'd make more logistics vehicles.

Also the VE vehicles are actually pretty decent, not sure why you're opposed to them. I get a lot of VE stuff, it just doesn't suit Rimworld to me, but the vehicles are fine if you're open to using them.

My only gripe with VE Vehicles is the massive amount of resources to make even the fairly shit ones.

The utility vehicles from it are great. Planes, helicopters, bikes, cars and trucks.

The combat vehicles I am less impressed by, I kind of think of them as heavy weapons emplacements that can move rather than actual combat vehicles. I tend to get more kills by ramming people than shooting them with a tank cannon, unless the tank is parked behind my barricades to serve as a fancy artillery piece.

My biggest gripe is the same, really. The amount of work to make even the crap ones are just too much, and by the time you can make the shitty truck you should have Tier 2 unlocked.

And tier 3 being locked behind scavenging only kinda sucks, too.

Frankly, I'd be less annoyed if they finally made raiders able to use them, but then again I'd have to ask for Vanilla Raiders Expanded that gives them actual battle plans, instead of just Charge At The Base.

Like, maybe Vanilla Diplomacy Expanded will do that if Tynan doesn't decide he wants to improve the least fun part of the game before 2026 or whenever it'll come out :P

I'm here using Rim War for some better world interaction (it allows you to capture settlements, causes raiders/traders to actually move across the map, declare war without having to shoot a guy 20 times etc. etc.).

But yes, do wish the VE vehicles were cheaper. It's easier to just buy out every vehicle part you can when you get a trader than it is to actually make them.

Honestly, I don't think making the parts is the part I dislike the time sink for -even though I do think mods that make you craft individual components like VVE makes you are annoying nonetheless- it's the fact that it ALSO takes like 600 steel on top of the 200 or so you put into parts + a dozen and a half components spread across the building and the parts.

Like, I would honestly say subtract the vehicle's cost as is from the cost required to make each part, plus maybe reduce the time it takes to make it. Otherwise it's late game. I've honestly found more utility from SRTS even tho it does also have the issue of it being a giant resource sink, but then again, I've also found SRTS to have more utility than VVE vehicles sadly.

By the time you get a chance to make a combat ready vehicle, you're facing like 50 people raids, and/or you're attacking settlements. Though that does tie back into the fact raiders in Rimworld just kinda have one strategy, that being monty python charging at your guys. Maybe if larger raids set up camps and did more harassment skirmishes than giant assaults would be nice.

...though if i were to design this, i'd make the current siege mechanic a bombardment raid or smth that is time limited OR until you break it up, and a siege sets up a permanent base on your base and harasses your colony as above on top of preventing ground traders and visitors from entering the map.

So I've been playing without the Rocketman mod all this time. Somehow the *idea* of an optimisation mod bypassed me.

Now I've gone from 18fps to 75fps, pretty sure that's the cap. Absolutely insane.

Probably worth taking a gander at this guide then, cause there are a few other performance mods too.

There are some good one non-tank ones out there! That said, last I played using Vehicles was pretty kludgy. You trade a decent chunk of fiddliness for potentially much easier trade caravanning.

Beyond the fairly meme-y medieval 'vehicle' mods out there that feature things like palanquins for your nobility, there are some high tech civilian ones, technicals, mechs, a truly all-terrain vehicle, and several lighter military APC options but perhaps that's not what you're interested in.

All that said, in terms of performing basic vehicle functions I think the basic VE crowded out that space pretty thoroughly. So there aren't e.g. many other 'here's a basic pickup truck' mods... but there are still some! Just searching the workshop for "vehicle" and narrowing to 1.5 mods gets you a pretty sizable list.

It should be noted that the Vehicle Framework is made by the guy(s) who make Vanilla Expanded, so their stuff isn't necessarily automatically the best, but VE vehicles are going to be able to cleave really close to what the Framework was made to do. You can get the vehicle stuff separate from the rest of VE except maybe the core, but IIRC the core is more of a library than anything and shouldn't have any real effect on your game. Even if it does, you can probably turn any modifications that come with it off pretty easily.

Of course, if your problem with VE is the vehicles themselves (or anything else that comes with the pack) you can just ignore my advice.
