Exactly what it says on the tin.
At its core, the Arsenal is not meant to be a Mod. Rather, it is a resoruce that modders can use to bring a bit of detail to the militaries and combat of their worlds.
You are free to use anything within the Arsenal, but please remember to credit!
Weapons are broken up into three categories:
Simple - Most of the vanilla DF weapons fall into this category. Battle axes, shortswords, spears, whips and the like.
Complex - More interesting weapons such as halberds, bastard swords and scourges
Exotic - Civilisation-Specific or weapons from 'exotic' places of the real world such as India or Japan.

Long Axe - Essentially a Polearm. Long Axe attacks have a higher velocity than other axes.

Complex Melee Weapons:
Saxe Knife - Essentially a bigger, nastier dagger.
Flail, Morningstar
Awlpike - A Pike with a longer spearhead. Penetration power ahoy!
Halberd - Five attacks on a single weapon. Where's your deity now?
Glaive, Voulge - Cleavers on sticks. Fight those goblins 'oppressed-peasant' style!
Sabre, Bastard Sword

There are two variants for every ammunition type:
Bodkin - Small contact area, high penetration. Excellent for skilled archers as an accurate shot will deal high internal damage.
Broadhead - Large contact area, low penetration. Good for new recruits as these cause a lot of bleeding, but very low internal damage.
Ammunition Types:
Arrows - Fit all kinds of bow
Light Bolts - Fired by the Crossbow
Heavy Bolts - Fired by the Arbalest
Dwarven Bolts - Fired by the Dwarven Arbalest
Elven Arrows - Fired by the Elven Bow
