Can I get dorfed as Delioth, Resident B.A.? Swordsdwarf, Male preferred, but it doesn't really matter. Also, at some point in time when you get the needed industries, could I get whatever sword I have encrusted with gems? Many thanks!
Unfortunately it seems, according to the wiki, that you can't normally decorate weapons with anything :/

Explorer's Journal - 2nd of Slate, 252

With the advent of spring having begun in earnest comes the start of our metal industry, headed by our resident warsmith Deroft. As overseer I have tasked him with the construction of armaments for Kate and her crew of militiamen.

Explorer's Journal - 5th of Slate, 252

Another wave of either brave or foolish migrants has arrived to our icy home in the earth. One of them is a rather wispy looking dwarf who happens to be rather adept at wood burning. Several members of our crew have jokingly refered to the man as our new arsonist.

It also appears we have a thief in our midst. Somehow he managed to remain undetected until a brave puppy happened to sniff him out skulking through our fortress. Commander Kate quickly set out to punish the filth for daring to enter our halls.

Unfortunately it managed to get away, disappearing into the heavy snowstorm. Hopefully we have discouraged it from returning.

Meanwhile a small gaggle of puppies has sprung up into our population. Several have been adopted by our local animal lovers, looking for a bit of happiness in this rather dreary landscape. Doubtless they will grow up to make effective war dogs in the future.

Also Mageziya as well as one of the recent migrants have recently begun work on detailing the Militia's training hall. A little smoothing should go a long way in making the barracks as comfortable as possible for Kate and her squadron.

Explorer's Journal - 16th of Slate, 252

Over the past few months the lumber industry has been busy at work getting the required wood needed for new beds as well as storage bins for our war industry. Resident Cuttist Kamin has been heavily engrossed in raping the land of all trees like any self respecting carpenter would.

I swear I sometimes hear him giggling to himself after every thwock of the axe against tree bark.

Explorer's Journal - 22nd of Slate, 252

It is high time we started fortifying the immediate area surrounding our surface entrance, as it is little more than a pair of dirt stairs. Thus I have assigned the task of masonry to several idle dwarves who do not have any work available to them. We shall have this small hole a fortified base of operations by the end of the summer if all goes well.

Explorer's Journal - 11th of Felsite, 252

Some good news has arrived to our humble home. One of Deroft's apprentice smiths has given birth to a healthy baby boy. Many congratulations are in order to the happy couple. A true sign that even in the face of our rather uninteresting dredge of a swamp a bright light can shine through even the darkest of clouds.

Explorer's Journal - 11th of Felsite, 252

It seems the elves have come to trade. apparently they deem our muddy hole of a fortress worthwhile enough to trade trinkets and what have you with us. Perhaps they have some quality enough booze to tide us over.

It would seem one of our dwarves, while fishing has been stricken with a touch of inspiration. Completely dropping his catch on the icy ground he scurried into the fortress taking over the metalsmith's forge. I suppose we'll be hearing of his accomplishments in a couple days.

Explorer's Journal - 4th of Hematite, 252

While not overly extravagant, Meng has none the less crafted a rather appealing copper flask with studs. Surely to be coveted by our militia for long work days.

In other news it would seem that the Elven caravan have brought with them a grizzly bear. Not having enough crafts to pay for it I hurriedly rush our best crafters to get to work on making the necessary items to afford it before they return to the forests. We also seem to be under slight siege by kobold thieves now that their scout had managed to scurry off into the cold beyond. We will have to up our guard duty if we want these vermin to stop assaulting our fortress.

God I love cutting down trees--almost as much as I love GRIZZLY BEARS! Since I REALLY want us to have a grizzly bear, make absolutely sure that nothing wooden at all is in the trading queue; no bins filled with crafts, no barrels of food, no worthless trinkets and baubles, etc. Also, nothing made from the burning of wood (like charcoal, although metal items made from forging are exempt). The K.I.S.S. method says just use stone nonsense.

You're doing a really great job so far! I'm really impressed; I hope you keep doing these after this one is over.

O______O YESSSSSSS! Now if only I could make a harness for it and ride it into battle... Even unmounted, a grizzly in battle will do some goooood damage. I sincerely hope it doesn't take an arrow/bolt to the brain.

Can't wait for the next update  :D

Explorer's Journal - 27th of Hematite, 252
With the successful trading of our craftsmanship for commodities and one mean looking grizzly bear the elves depart with satisfaction off into the cold wilds beyond. While I find their prudish love of trees beyond obsessively insane and hypocritical they at least seem to be nice enough people willing to overlook cultural differences.

Explorer's Journal - 4th Malachite, 252

Another kobold continues to poke at our defenses, hoping to find some flaw to make off with ill gotten riches from within our vaults. Thankfully the surface is regularly populated by workers and animals that this nuisance didn't get very far before being scared off.

Now that we own a Grizzly Bear several of our dwarves are chomping at the bit for training the beast themselves. I quickly have our animal trainers begin work on training the beast for war. It will certainly cause our enemies pause to see it in the face of battle. Our very own axe enthusiast Kamin has been begging for the chance to ride it into battle. As of yet I am unsure as to how we would make that possible but if he can somehow come up with a way to saddle the beast then he is welcome to try.

Explorer's Journal - 17th Malachite, 252

It has been brought to my attention that one of our dwarves have been swept away in the river upon the melting of the ice some time in early summer. As of yet I am unaware as to who it was, however it appears to have been one of our military dwarves. After a headcount it was determined that none of the original guild members had been lost, however as we have no body to recover a memorial stone will have to be engraved in his memory.

Later in the day it was revealed to be Goden Gutidducim, one of Deroft's apprentices having taken some time for a relaxing bout of fishing. I have commissioned the construction of the slabs required for memorial engraving and will dedicate it to him later in the month.

Explorer's Journal - 28th Malachite, 252

In the wake of death comes new life. One of Ethan's colleagues have given birth to a baby boy, bringing much joy to the happy couple. I quickly commissioned the baby be given a new bedroom.

Perhaps this will help lighten the mood of Goden's friends who've lost one of their own.

Explorer's Journal - 8th Galena, 252

Now that everyone for the most part has settled in I've tasked our masons with constructing furniture for our bedrooms. Hopefully this will make living arrangements more comfortable for everyone involved and give everyone a place to store their possessions.

Explorer's Journal - 12th Galena, 252

A human caravan has arrived, bringing goods and tools from their home lands to this frozen swampland. I quickly task our dwarves to bring our trinkets and crafts for trading at the depot and send our broker to begin haggling with the humans. With some luck they will have much of what we need in terms of booze and provisions.

Explorer's Journal - 3rd of Limestone, 252

While training with her squadron militia commander Kate suddenly gained an opaque look to her eyes, and quickly sprinted for the craftsdwarf workshop, constantly muttering to herself. I was a tad worried at first, as she almost kicked one of the cats out of her way in her rush for the workstation halls.

Meanwhile a goblin kidnapper had the audacity to come into our fortress and attempt to steal one of our children. However our Human friends from the caravan had brought a military detail, and quickly went after and slaughtered the goblin before it could get away.

Explorer's Journal - 13th of Limestone, 252

Kate has begun her strange project having found everything she had needed. Let us hope the strange being in possession of her will has something creative in mind...

Explorer's Journal - 18th of Limestone, 252

Five days later and Kate has surfaced from the crafting halls victorious, having made a rather elaborate and attractive crown of tetrahedrite. Certainly worthy of admiration, even if it had not been Kate who was in control during its construction.

Explorer's Journal - 19th of Sandstone, 252

Apparently the every increasing wealth of our small fortress in the Cerulean Swamps has attracted yet another gaggle of migrants intent on contributing to the supposed glory of Fencedboot. One of them was a rather skilled swordsdwarf. I aimed to take advantage of his skill and put him under Kate's command as soon as he settled in.

Having need of more stone to work with and a desire to begin our gem industry in earnest I have designated a large digging site several meters down below the main living area of the fortress.

Explorer's Journal - 15th of Timber, 252

It seems it's that time of year again. Once again the dwarven caravan from the mountainhomes has arrived to our dismal home in the frozen wilds of the southern continent. It certainly is a sight for sore eyes, our booze has been getting low and our carpenters have been getting lazy with their barrel crafting to fill our brew in. I sent trinkets up topside to pay for our brothers' offerings this year. Hopefully some interesting items are in store for us in their wagon stocks.

As I meet with our king's trade liaison I make up a list of the required sustenance we need as well as some interesting extracts to perhaps spice up our meals in the future. The chefs have been asking for syrup for quite some time and we've had little opportunity to obtain some. AJ in particular has been looking for flour as a change of pace in preparing meals for our hungry brethren. I also requested from our liaison any types of flux stone he can afford us; dowsing attempts have come back fruitless.

As a side note, we've bought several hens and a rooster from them. With a bit of work we can get a proper egg industry going, and most of our working class have been asking for fried eggs for their morning breakfast for quite a while.

Explorer's Journal - 6th of Moonstone, 252

Another one of those filthy goblin kidnappers has attempted to enter our fortress in the hopes of making off with one of our progeny. Thankfully he was easily spotted and thwarted during our wall construction.

On the bright side, our perimeter defenses have been completed. I'm now working on moving Kate's barracks up to the surface to provide a faster crisis response to any problems that may arise.

(Nothing too exciting for the moment guys, the fortress is beginning to look nicer on the inside as I've designated a couple more engravers for the project. Hopefully I'll get a bit more fun to arrive sometime in the future.)

Explorer's Journal - 15th of Moonstone, 252

Deroft has been complaining lately of the lack of bins for the metal bars his team have smelted, as we've had to allocate our wood supply on other matters. Without saying a word Kamin picked up his axe and headed for the surface, followed by his faithful bear companion Yawnbridges. Every thwock resounded throughout the cold recesses of the swampland.

These goblins are annoyingly incessant on poking our fortress's defenses, feeling it out for any chance at all to take our children from us. I swear these filthy creatures attempt to get inside our fortress every week. That barracks will need to be built topside post haste.

Unfortunately, a terrible tragedy ensued in this particular encounter. The thieving mongrel managed to strike down Fikod Kikrostlibad's child, however she had managed to stick a crossbow bolt in the filthy beast's throat.

It finally died halfway up the southern mountain.

Explorer's Journal - 7th of Opal, 252

For reasons unexplained to me one of our water buffalo calves had become rather irate. In a strange showing of community the surrounding cattle on the same plot of land sought to subdue the calf, the poor beast attaining minor injuries.

Were you the pony one? Or the Sword guy? Both of the ones I have on the front page are dwarfified. Also, thank you. I just do what I feel most comfortable with in terms of fortress design.
