let us know if we need to skip you, i know you are having technical issues, but we really should keep this moving (I have seen many sucession games lose momentum and peter out unfortunately. Lets hope not this one!)

Skip me, just make sure the next overseer fixes the well issue, turns off the pumps, and unlocks Rendell's arena door

I'll try my best to doom save this fortress.
Rendell, I really hope you don't mind this...
-----------------------------------------

1st of Granite, 553
Rendell wiped the blood off his axe. He had won; the goblin, she lied dead at his feet.
It was silent, so much for the cheering crowd. Looking above him, he noted that there were no dwarves watching.

Rendell sighed as he walked to door; he tried to open to door... Only to find that it was locked.
The door was supposed to be unlocked after he won, but with no one watching; they didn't know when to unlock it.

He began thinking on how to get out of this situation; The arena was just below the dining hall.
Someone had to be in it. Rendell began shouting, "HELP!! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

Only silence greeted him; there was no reply.
But after a minute or two, a familiar dwarf's head peered at him.

Spoiler: Feylers (click to show/hide)
((OOC: I changed Feyler's name to Mirei, because she is a girl!))

"Rendell, you're alive," Feylers said, "Why are you still down there?"

"Feylers, the door is locked! Unlock it before I die!"

"Actually, my name is Mirei; I have no idea why you guys call me Feylers."

"Feylers, UNLOCK THE DOOR!!" Rendell screamed.

Mirei looked away, as she began to consider what would happen if Rendell died.
With Rendell gone, I could probably get his room...
Nah, I can make myself a new room.

She must have seemed likely to leave.

"Mirei? Can you unlock the door? Please?" Rendell asked, a slight hint of fear in his voice.

"What? Oh, yes! I'll do it quickly..."
*          *          *
"Thanks, Mirei," Rendell said, as he took a sip of his ale.

"No problem."

Mirei began to leave, when a Dwarf ran up to her.

"Feylers," He said, "You have been selected to be overseer."

"It's Mirei, not Feylers..."

-----------------------------------------
That's how I'm going to be writing my year; deal with it
I'll begin the year now.

I suggest the first thing you do is deconstruct the well, floor it off, and make diagonal channels to a new well area; else you want to flood the fort

Journal of Artimaus:Miner

Things are getting creepy. I have had a dream that I had a dream that I was put in charge and disaster fell. Then I woke up and died because someone locked him in a room. These must be premonitions.
I will warn Feylers who has been given a leadership position.

I was passed over for promotion.

I wonder what the fort will look like when I see it again...

Btw, I design all of my wells to the level of the aquifer. I never plan on expanding them (no reason to). without expansion, it is impossible to overflow

Build some fortifications and traps on the surface near the entrance and on the roof, a siege might come
( when I was playing 2 came)

Finally, sieges show up, i was worried that they might not show. For some reason, they never seem to show up (or are uncharistically small) whenever i play sucession games.... Yet they show up in massive force in my singleplayer games (first siege one game had over 90 gobbos/mounts... 250k fort value... The gobbos hate my forts)

And yes, i have checked and made sure that invaders is set to YES, not to NO. I must be lucky (although i do miss my goblinite).

The first sieges are the smallest, but they become bigger and better equipped the longer and more valuable the fort has become

This fort looks pretty awesome so far. If it's still possible i'd like a dorf and a chance as Overseer? Hopefully the fort will still be surviving thriving when it comes to me.
Name just glloyd, and a miner/soldier if there is one, If not, I'll take an axedorf.

Ooh, vampire... Quick, stick him In a room with a pick and seal him shut (constructed walls and burrows do the job nicely). He won't attack anyone, and the fort will never fall.

I call it the battery backup.
