*later* Elves didn't have anything terribly interesting.
The two-ton dragon raptors (trainable) and flame spitting dogs (also trainable) weren't interesting enough for ya? :P

Pet's aren't my strong point and I more interested in chasing down kobold theives and general cleanup than seizing merch. rest assured I re-ordered them for the next overseer to enjoy. With so few dwarves and minor defences I didn't feel comfortable adding to the threat-list. At least the the mithril bars left over the surface have been moved to where they belong...

And now I'm going to regret that... something just unchained a troll.

EDIT: Keas restricted to tropical forests where they belong.  Those evil, EVIL, foul little things.

Edit: The baby murderer became a friend of the fortress, which started a loyalty cascade, and now most of the squad is dead.

Domesticated animals bought from the elves never go feral. And if anything, what better way to supplement our lack of able-bodied dwarves than with giant warbeasts? :P

Aaaaah! A turn! I had taken the liberty of looking at the place earlier. Weird, the population seems pretty happy. We can fix that. The save is Exaltationhexxed 264 by Spish, right?

I've never played Masterwork, so I'm pretty lost there. Is there anything I absolutely should or shouldn't do? Otherwise, I'll stick to vanilla-ey gameplay because it's what I know.

We've lost Necrisha's dorfings, so here's the current state of things. Help me catch them up?

Currently Dorfed: (7 dorfs?)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Available for Dorfing: (8! Get 'em while they're still breathing!)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Spish has left us with some very cool waterfall engineering! However, it's not very defensible. How have you not all been incinerated by nightmares yet? (Okay, I have played Masterwork a few times, and that's how every game ended in the first season.)

I have heavy life commitments for the next 48 hours, but then we can get this train wreck a-rolling!

Edit: Whoever set the Inactive schedule to Train orders is a goof.
Edit2: What is Slag and why do we have so many bars of it?
Edit3: Is SteelOak as cool as it sounds?

Slag is a byproduct of the metal industry. It is perfectly useless and does nothing but clutter the fortress. Building a slag pit is the best way to get rid of it, either by simply destroying it or turning it into concrete.

Yes, it is. Steeloak (and Ironbark) is a type of tree. Both can be used for making weapons and armor. Anything made of Ironbark will have the properties of  iron equipment, and anything made of Steeloak will likewise have the same stats as steel. They're very helpful if you don't have a metal industry. I don't know how flammable they are, though.

Thanks, and awww, I was hoping it could be used to make steel minecarts. My war plans are almost entirely minecart-based.

It can; you can refine it into steel bars through reactions at the timberyard.

harvested saplings -> [NAME:cut farmed steeloak] -> steeloak wood
steeloak wood -> [NAME:refine steeloak into steel] -> steel

Didn't know that.
