If they hurry him away to some closed tribunal and never let us hear of him again I will be unbelievably pissed.

It's going to be turned into a parade. Politicians from all over are going to be hoping on this to promote their own agendas, the FBI is going to use the relatively quick capture as proof of its legitimacy, and 99% of America is going to be enraptured by whatever tidbit of information comes out.

Also, it's a great distraction from larger issues, such as Afghanistan and the economy. Give him a secret trial and stuff him in Guantamano Bay or some such, those issues immediately snap back into focus, and much more strongly.

Turns out he didn't want it nearly as badly as he claimed. (and from what I understand, his few attempts would have led to a situation that was somehow worse if they'd succeeded, hard to believe as it may be)

Congress was vehemently against closing it on both sides of the aisle and the President was unwilling to use an executive order.

I think the leading alternative was shipping them all off to Syria or something to be tortured to death. Though that may have just been rumours, for some reason I doubt the reality would have been all that much better. If they weren't terrorists going in, at least a few of them have to be strongly considering it by now...

Like they aren't already being tortured to death.

No, scratch that. Ever since the current food striking began, they apparently also turned force-feeding into a kind of torture. So they're torturing them to death, and then they torture them back to life.

Holy shit. I feel like sometimes I am surrounded by conspiracy nuts. Are they going to fucking occupy the neighborhood for 10 years? NO! They just lifted the cordon, and I just saw on the news that people have heard gunfire. Jesus fucking christ, you guys think this is Europe? No, this is 'Murica, home of big guns and fucking destroying anyone who fucks with it. Remember Osama? They launched a raid without ANY WARNING whatsoever into pakistan to the government just to fuck that guy over. The Government has a revenge fantasy with anyoe that fucks with it, and that won't change.
Real defeatism right there.

Just can't help but imagine some eagle there plucking a feather every now and then, deliberating whether or not America is free.

And then it is a bald eagle, and it cries at what it knows.

I was under the impression that the giant sewer systems that feature in video games were an artifact from places like London and Paris that decided to build sewer systems out of stone ages ago, and required pretty much constant on site maintenance. New ones are just pipes aren't they?
Not sure about Paris but London's were built from about 160 years ago and maintained built upon to this day by lots of skilled engineers, making a series of underground rivers, tunnels, sewers and other such things that end up with places looking like this:

So it wouldn't really be that uncommon for any large city to have sewers you could get lost in.

Thank you very much for that Toady.

Still alive as of two hours ago. Seems like he'll live.

And really?

It's sad that that's not satire. It really is.
