It was definitely the best Payday 1 mission. It just felt so epic, like the gang had gotten into something way over their heads and were just trying to survive the consequences. The game definitely needs expand on the whole "not what it seems" and unintended consequences direction that they seemed to be headed with the gang acting as mercenaries for different shady characters. The closest they've gotten was "As usual, Vlad was short on the intel. There's cameras and guards."

I'd like more of "you've pissed off the entire world and now they're nuking you" missions.
Don't forget to add to that "Bain, stop being an idiot" and "Bile, while can't you fly a plane. You're a pilot, not a crash test dummy."

I miss my old enforcer-tech build, with just max damage shotguns and the 2 armor upgrades, especially;

Standing in enemy fire for 2 minutes and not taking damage (okay, being able to stand up on overkill)
Not having to aim, since shotguns autoheadshot and are op
Jumping off a roof 4 times and having berserker damage for the rest of the mission
Having a freaking saw. My heart bleeds each time all the deposit boxes just... remain closed.

After going infamous I'm trying a pistol build, with the dmg bonus from mastermind and the akimbo ammo and "for each hit more dmg" skills from the fugitive, using berrti (italian pistols?), to spam 56 or so bullets towards a enemy, increasing the damage with each hit by 10% - sure I can face-blast a bulldozer, but only if he doesn't shot at me, at any point. Overkill missions that I'd usually do just fine are a real struggle. Maybe I should get over level 60 before doing those.

Do akimbos even profit from pistol skills? Am I being played a fool?

IIRC akimbo does profit, or at least works with mastermind ones

Using an ally in heavy armor is super effective cover against juggarnauts.  As long as the lot of you can dish out the damage.

Also.  Murdoir.  Them Irish accent are funny.  I'll buy her at next sale.

Some of them.

They get the bonus from all the MM skills, though the +damage one they only get half the bonus (+7) iirc.

They do NOT the bonus from trigger happy (+damage per pistol shot) though, unless they fixed it recently.

...yes it's pretty strange that they get the bonus from a different tree, but not from the tree they come from, it's probably a bug that overkill will fix eventually (it only took them a year to fix dead presidents)

I don't use akimbo and they changed it around a while back so I'm not completely sure about the above info, but I think that's how it all works now.

Akimbo pistols are some of the most powerful things in the game, if not the most powerful. I watch dodge/crit builds slaughter black/skulldozers faster then any other gun out there.

The decision just has to be to pick up Akimbo from either the perk deck or the skill. I think, generally, the bonus to dodge you get from perks is worth spending the points in fugitive.

They are pretty good but I'd hardly consider them the most powerful. Most primaries can slaughter bulldozers pretty easily these days, especially if you have low blow (bulldozer needs a buff imo).

IMO you're better off saving the 4 (or 12) points and just using a different primary, but they can be fun and are definitely viable if you want to use them.

Finally got the game, and after about a week of playing some impressions:

The game is hard, but not so hard that it makes it unfun.
The mouse aiming is a bit too granular, and at times the iron sights don't really match with where the weapons are firing, but that's tolerable.
Experience comes rather easily, money is far too damn rare.
Card dictated weapon attachments are incredibly annoying.

But overall, it's a fun enough game to play, at least as long as you don't mind some level of frustration with it.

If so, I'll be very happy indeed. Even if it forces me to pay some hefty cash to respec every so often for different maps, as long as I can actually get the money to do so without issue, as well keep myself updated with properly modded weapons, then I'll be mostly happy.

A bit of slightly more senior feedback for you:

The difficulty stays that way. Even if you get good and top level, death wish can still be satisfyingly hard.
Aiming I can't really comment on, as payday is the main fps I play.
Just wait til the xp/money abundances switch at higher levels :P (ninja'd)
Agreed, but liveable with. The mod pack lets you collect packages to get sets of mods, and is the closest I'd say there is to an 'essential' DLC, but you can manage without with some luck/skill.

Yeah, after a while you just sort of don't have anything to spend money on except maybe weapon slots, and there's often not much point in having more than having more than you start with anyway.

I'm level I-78 at the moment - so, cumulatively 178 - and I have 15 million in cash and 117 million in offshore cash. The former gets reset when you Infamous at level 100 and doing so also costs 200 million offshore.

By the time you can consistently do even overkill missions without being carried, you will almost certainly have waaay more cash than you could need for basically anything, unless you decide to try and buy ALL THE WEAPON SLOTS like I did.

Experience, on the contrary, is really frigging annoying to get - starting around 80, you'll need >500k experience per level. Only a handful of missions offer this much even on Deathwish, most of them are DLC contracts and the ones that /aren't/ are Hoxton Breakout and Rats pro job, basically.

The most rewarding non-DLC stealthable mission is Shadow Raid at a paltry 252k on Deathwish, so if you prefer stealth over loud missions that's the best-paying mission four times for 99 to 100 alone.

EXP rewards in this game are pretty janky, all told. :/

I think I have something like 30-40 million spendable, but I do a lot of Hoxton breakout overkill runs, which net like I think 1.2m a run in spendable. Its also the best xp to risk in the game, aside from GO bank. Incidentally, GO bank is similar to Hoxton when played on deathwish, in a time to xp ratio, just have to be REALLY good at stealth.
