To use ores as stone you have to go into the stones menu and designate it usable for normal stone work. By default ores are set to only be used for metal work.

Or, if you don't want to do that, you can smelt it and then forge mechanisms at a metalsmith's forge. It'll use fuel but give you 4-8 mechanisms per chunk of tetrahedrite and the silver mechanisms that are produced will be much more valuable.

I love you guys!  Really glad I didn't finish my year in one sitting.

Was really rusty playing last night, and kind of overwhelmed... my last fortresses got down to 15-20 fps, so it sent me into panic mode (OMG 50 FPS AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING).

Shortly after I finish playing, the forging mechanisms occurred to me... just needed to step away from the chaos for a second.  :)  Hopefully I'll be able to finish a few before the caravan arrives!

 :)

When you think about it, the no stone part may have one advantage. This fort will probably have a higher than average FPS for a long time unless people go crazy spamming metal crafts. Not to mention the corridors are very smooth and clean... but beware growing trees trapping dwarves in bedrooms once caverns are breached.

Dwarf happiness may eventually be the real issue, since you can't have engraved rooms easily.

So where's the turnlist? Just re-read the whole thread, and didn't see anything of the sort.

You should edit the OP with stuff like that. Or get somebody else to do it and then make a link to their reply in the OP.

Sandhammer, the land where no matter how deep you dig, there is nothing but dirt, and more dirt.  We have ore, but that is the only stone you will EVER find.

No, I'm just truly excited about your modding brilliance.

I've started my turn. Also I've merged the raws with popular graphical packs so any following overseer will be able to play full-fledged graphical version as well as vanilla (I use Ironhand's).
