INFECTIOUS- Turn 5: Zombies On Acid
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:21:00 pm »

In case you're wondering, this is a zombie survival RtD. What's different is the different kinds of zombies you'll be fighting as well as the choices you'll eventually get.

Player sheets will be chosen, a backstory will be given (You'll be able to fill in some of it, it's a month-and-a-half long of the PCs getting to know each other). From there, the game begins.

For those who want to know what's going on, you're on the Mississippi River in the near future when the game starts. The infected are caused by an escaped sample from the CDC of a heavily bio-engineered Cordyceps fungus, that not only can latch onto humans before they die and turn living humans (rare cases, most people have to be dead in order to turn) but cause evolutionary mutations in a matter of weeks, as well as persist without rotting for decades (you don't know the decades bit in-character, as it hasn't been decades since the outbreak).

It's been about six months since the world stopped turning when the game starts.

You need a name, an age, and a biography of what you've been doing since the infection began.
Spoiler: Choose a Class (click to show/hide)
No two people may share a class, so I suggest posting your first, second, and third choices. Players will be chosen based on how good their backstory/history is, as it will influence the first turn's "month-and-a-half" timeskip. Certain character classes don't mix well, by the way- a Survivalist and a Mother, for instance. Survivalists throw the concept of humanity to the wind, having accepted that this is the end, whereas a Mother wants nothing more than to believe in hope of a future.
That is, if you build the characters that way, anyway. You can have a hopeless mother or a sane Survivalist, if you so desire.

Consider this fairly heavy in the RP tone, or at least try- I don't mind you trying something stupid like throwing a PVC pipe at an infected, but the eventual plot line(s) ((yes I have plans for crazy players and no this is not a railroad)) should hopefully be somewhat serious.

It's zombie survival, not a bachelor party.

Sure, I guess I could be in.

Name: Sarah Jane Meyer
Age: 39
Class Choices:
1st: Librarian
2nd: Scientist
3rd: Survivalist
Bio: It's been so long since she's seen her family. She almost forgot that they were why she agreed to come with this group instead of surviving on her own. She still refused to believe this was what was happening. It had to be just some kind of strange disease. Something she just hasn't yet read about. Something that could be cured! But there was really no denying it.
She had first heard about the attack during a business trip. The news said it was rapidly spreading, and had, to her absolute horror, had already spread to her hometown of Louisiana. She begged her boss to let her catch a plane back, but he refused, claiming that it was for her, and their, safety. She knew that was bullshit. He just didn't want the flight to come out of the company's budget, the cheapskate. But she complied. She watched the news as she was basically quarantined off from the rest of the world, watching as things got worse and worse. After about a month it had begun infecting the staff at the resort. She assumed it was from some brat sneaking out for a smoke and getting caught by...them. She created a base for the surviving guests in the Second-Floor Hallway, bringing supplies up with the dumbwaiter, and barricading the entrances with whatever they had. The stress took an excellent mental toll on her, leaving her extremely worried about her parents, and paranoid about the safety of her surroundings. The system worked out for a few months, until the rest of the group she's in now came along, looking for survivors. They said they had cleared the way, and wanted to help evacuate. In the escape, almost everyone else died, due to a malfunction with the cables running the elevator. She was smart enough to take the stairs with the others, and they made it out safely enough. She's been travelling with them ever since, hoping that one day she'll make it back to Louisiana. Maybe her parents would still be there, somehow. Surviving by the skin of their teeth. Yeah, that would be just like them...
Personality: Paranoid, but still willing to do anything to help keep the group moving. She can actually be cheery at times, but is more often than not quite depressed.

Soldier.
Survivalist.
Child.

In that order.

Name : Alexis jade.
Age : 23. Or 13 for the child.
Bio : Since the day of the outbreak Alexis has been alone, her squad had been sent to hold a city block around where the spread first began and for more then 3 days of constant fighting they had, but the radios had gone dead and one by one her squad had been killed until finally when Alexis was the only one left standing she decided she wanted to live, not die having been forgotten by her command.

The first rule for being a soldier incidentally is the same as the first rule for surviving this plague. Know your enemy, and so Alexis has traveled up and down the country hunting the zombies down and killing them, discovering everything she could about them but mostly just finding the best ways to put them down for good.

She's taken a few nasty wounds in that time and spent a lot of time living amongst ruins or in the wilds to avoid detection as much as possible until finally her sense of duty got the better of her and she set out looking for other survivors to put her training and new found knowledge to work protecting those few survivors that she was able to find.

The darkness was eternal, all-powerful, unchangeable.
She had stared into it for to many years, alone and unblinking, determined that it would not take her.
Now it never would.
Now she was lighting a candle.

Bio:  Horrified with the death of his (Insert loved one of choice here) He managed to make his way to the hydroelectric dam with the rest of the group. There he withdrew into himself and a bottle of whiskey he nabbed while getting there. He has only just got over the depression of his losses a couple days ago.

Scientist
Survivalist
Soldier
In that order.

Name: Oleg Volkov
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Bio:
Dr. Oleg Volkov was studying the virus in a laboratory in Missouri, but the outbreak reached the facility and accidentally released the virus he was working on, increasing the numbers of infection. Oleg managed to run to a safe zone, but even that was not safe from attack.

Oleg is around 6'5, with blonde hair. He is generally mild-mannered, and speaks only when needed. He was a bit more fun before the outbreak, but the loss of his friends and family over the past month has scarred him. He managed to fend them off for quite a while, using his scientific expertise to improvise weapons and tools. He just hopes to find some hope that humanity can be saved.

He was sent to study the virus in America, from his homeland in Russia. He was sent by a military plane, and landed in the secure facility in Missouri. He and his team of five got to work on trying to understand on how the virus worked, and hoped that there was someway to stop it. Until the attack. One of his teammates became infected, and it drove him insane. He wanted to take his team and everyone in the facility down with him to hell, and he shut down the security. The Undead rushed in, slaughtering everyone. Oleg was the only one who escaped.

First: Child
Second: Scientist
Third: Mother

I'll just post the child sheet, I guess.

Name: Jethro "Jay" Cunningham
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Bio: Jethro's lived a pretty quiet, almost routine life these past 6 months. The dead, while rather numerous, have also been no more dangerous than wild animals would be. Running and hiding has worked for him so far - after all, he's still alive, unlike his parents, his friends, and pretty much anyone he's ever known. However, food's running low, stuff's spoiling, and the things following him around seem to have changed somewhat. So he needs shelter. And, for the first time in a while, other people. But he keeps an optimistic outlook on life - after all, no matter how bad it gets, it could always be much, much worse. Jay divides his life into two parts - the pre-apocalypse, which he views as unimportant and not worth retelling due to its complete irrelevance to his current situation (in his own words, "I don't care about it, so why should you?"), and the post-apocalypse, which he considers both pertinent to his situation and valuable experience, as lacking as it is right now.
Personality: Jethro, his teenage angst sidelined by the fact that the world has effectively ended, is not a very emotional person, and frequently exhibits aberrant behavior, including a slight tendency toward manipulative behavior, amorality and selfishness. He has a utilitarian, yet also rather optimistic outlook - not that the world's gonna get better, because he's pretty sure it won't, but about his own capability to survive it. He is not asocial by any means, but the four and a half months of ceaseless running and hiding mean he is somewhat unused to company, although rather eager to fit in and find new people to both shield himself with and to get support from.

First: Doctor
Second: Librarian
Third: Survivalist

Name: Max Sauer
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Bio: Max has been doing pretty well, as far as apocalypse survival goes. Mainly because nobody in their right mind would kill a doctor, when that doctor is one of the only few around who can fix up their injuries well. He honestly hasn't had much to do after the apocalypse -- he's just been hopping from survivor group to survivor group, tending to any injuries that happen in exchange for food, water, and protection.
Personality: Cynical.

You're just kinda, like, around the Mississippi. On a hydroelectric dam.

Chink and Harry, there are a couple of problems.

Chink, yours isn't detailed enough in any way. I have to write like at the very least a month and a half about you, as well as there being a good amount of psycho marauders out there.

Harry, a very minor nitpick, but the dead are anything but "slow". Well, some are. However, most Stage 1s (one to two weeks post-infection) match humans in speed if not surpass them. Also, more info please.

Greenstar, Alexandria, you're OK right now.

Also, personalities. Give me a little bit of bone to chew with that, please. Again, gotta write as you guys for the first turn.

Added a personality section, and corrected the error. Slightly expanded biography.

1st Soldier.
2nd Survivalist.

Name : Robert Reeves
Age : 18
Biography : Robert was a young soldier who'd only just left boot camp when the world went to hell. His squad was on it's way to another base to await orders when the convoy they were in crashed and most of them died.
A few survived the crash and the slaughter that followed and kept moving hoping to reach the base and the safety they believed it would hold but the longer they traveled the fewer of them it became apparent would make it.

After almost 2 weeks Robert was the only one left on his feet and decided that it was time to change tactics and so looked for a place to hold up, he has succeeded in surviving since then but only just.

Personality : Robert is a courageous and optimistic person most of the time and believes that everybody deserves a second chance.
Despite this however he knows that sometimes things have to be done that he will not like and he has no problems doing what has to be done.

On a different note and sorry for using your thread for this Tsuchigumo550.
Can somebody recommend a good game for me? Something with a lot of options and very few rules preferably thats still accepting players.
I'm trying to read through things but it's a big forum and some of the threads run over 1000 pages.
