Miguel stood there in a moment of shocked silence.

: "Well now... That was odd."

He fiddled with his mustache idly. Upon his honor, if he didn't know better these poor mercenaries were being taken advantage of. Such an occasion was an outrage! Verily, Miguel was going to a nice cordial discourse with Matilda about the subject some time soon. It simply wasn't right that these people were being strung along like this. Perhaps... Yes. The legal wheels started turning in his head.

: "Hohoho."

After thinking about it, Candy decided Fezz was right. Candy wasn't just a dancer. Fairy powers were a package deal!

: "Oh, that's right! You weren't around when the thing happened with the stuff. Maybe ask Leo or Sheila. Efa would kill me, take me to a bishop, revive me, and kill me again if I said anything. What WERE you doing that whole time in the castle town, anyway? Did they have a library?"

"Thing with the..." The historian muttered in confusion at Candy's response, more than a little confused. "I think I shall ask them. Later, though."

"As for the town, it wasn't very eventful. I don't believe we saw a library in our trip, but we did catch up with Leopoldo and Shelia and watched a play with them. I, er, sort of slept through it. Afterwards, I bought a new tome and we headed back to the keep. We saw one of the mages, Sakura, when we arrived to find that she was... Rather..."

The man was at a bit of a loss for words, before finally settling on the truth. "...Hallucinating? It seemed an invasive plant in the garden was rather potent, and caused her to, well, become ill and started seeing and hearing things. She kept mumbling about a 'scary horse lady'. Grifen and I--mostly Grifen admittedly, I'm not that knowledgeable about such--took care of her until she was over it."

"I take it this event you're not suppose to talk about took the most of your time?" The monk asked inquisitively.

Meanwhile, a bit earlier...

"Well, one day shouldn't change anything. I don't mind going to Arma, Captain." The lardy captain grinned and walked off.

BACK TO DA FUTUR.

Matilda stopped by Grifen and Alec.

"Captain Inara will be taking a short detour to Arma. Some business I believe."

"Shady town, shady merchants, shady everything. Also, an Arena, where, if I recall correctly, people bet money and get themselves killed trying to win. I've never been at one. Most of them were demolished during Empress' rule."

~~Chapter 2xx: More than Unlawful~~

The ship sailed to south-west, alongside the coast and then, around the island, to the port of Arma. Officially, it's a loyal Imperial port and territory of Mireos, but everyone knew it was den of piracy. As it was far from more important cities and lands, not even the imperial officials bothered to maintain law in here...

Captain Inara was the first to disembark, together with few of his stronger-looking sailors. Matilda looked at the port, at half of the buildings crumbling or unkept, and then she looked at the large oval construction seemingly standing in the centre of the town.

"I would rather have you near me... I don't think that many people will be kind to us here and some might be downright dangerous. Let's go, we should at least check the stores and maybe the Arena before the captain returns to continue our journey." And they have disembarked only to find trouble...

A group of drunken men was walking down toward the pier and their leader, with an axe in one hand and bottle in the other, pointed at her.

"Oi, you, blondieface! Dat's our pier ya know! Get yer ship off 'ere!"

"Um, that's not our-"

"Ya deaf? Get that old wreckage off mah pier ye frog spawn!" Matilda's left eyelid twitched.

"Get lost, pig, or else!"

"What? I will cut that tongue of ya mouth ya whore! Get her boys, teach'er a lessun!" Some curious bystanders overheard the conversation and looked at the street; there was even a pair of soldiers clad in imperial armor, plus some sailors and pirates, who decided to watch the event.

"Is he blind or- nevermind, just knock him out, people. Maybe he will sober up a bit after getting some bruises."
