You woke after your night of beating up thugs in a silly costume to find a headline about superheroes. It seems the government is trying to create a team of superheroes to be on call for dangerous instances like that alien invasion last week. You power up your computer and head to the website the newspaper mentioned people could apply to.

Are you a superhero who has been helping others from crooks and criminals? How would you like to join the fight by teaming up with other superheroes? Apply to the Amazing Superheroes today! Applications are open until Midnight September 28th or 24 hours from the time this was posted. If you are selected, you will invited in to test your powers in front of an examining board. Job: Produce Quality Evaluation and Restocking Specialist, Grocery Store
Criminal Record: None as far as he knows. The Russian government might just have it in for him, though.
Background History: a Russian native, Vyacheslav fled his homeland three years ago, completely convinced that the President of Russia was in the middle of enacting some dark plan that would, as part of its design, result in Vyacheslav's death or imprisonment. Motivated by fear, which may or may not be entirely founded, he smuggled himself to America, where he has for the past two and a half years been busy naturalizing, getting to know the people, the language. He's even managed to get his hands on a green card, a process that had been eating up quite a lot of his time, money and will to live. He wishes to join the AS to secure his place in America and to be protected from the predations of his home country, and to also do something useful with the powers that he believes are the key to his predicament, whatever that may be.
Other: mildly paranoid, but also quite ethical and moral. Rather likes living in America and would prefer to keep doing so indefinitely.

Background history: Jenny has been studious her entire life, but recently she has felt like she needed a break. around this time her powers manifesed, and she wants to become a hero, because it is being useful, but in a completely different way than her research.

Background history: The KCS chemical division is responsible for almost 15% of all superhero/supervillian manifestations, and Erins was no different. An explosion at a lab she was promoting saturated her in strange, mutant powers...her company has since then kept her identity a secret, while using 'Solaris' as an advertising tool to sell their wide range of products-such as toys, books and movies. Erin's always looking for the camera.
Other: She's quite bouncy, physically...and in personality. They couldn't have picked a more telegenic or alluring superheroine to represent their company if they had perhaps triggered the laboratory explosion purposely. Really, it was very lucky.

Background history: I'm not. I don't view myself as a superhero. I saw a problem and dealt with it, nothing super about it. As for how I got my superpower, it happen after I became a 'superhero'. I have minor cannibalism and for how I found that out, I'll say child molester and self defense and leave it at that. Anyway, I came across another child molester who had powers and it seem that I wasn't over my issues yet and I killed and ate her. I don't know if  I can gain more powers, but I'm not in a hurry to find out.
Other: My favorite movie is Bambi.

Background history: Grew up in a fairly poor part of Los Angeles. Father owned the convenience store, passed away from heart troubles and left Samuel in charge. Mother died in a mugging gone wrong. Store has been held up any number of times. No more! He will make his little part of the world safer or die trying.
Other: Samuel is a vegan thanks to being allergic to animal protein. He bitterly wishes that this wasn't so.

(One case of manslaughter as a child, one drunk mistake with one person injured and one self-confessed murder of a pedophile. I think there been presidents with worse records. But it your game so I'll think about another one. Still think the government would look past that minor(relative) blip. Like every war crime ever on the winning side.)
