Community fortress - I play the game, you guys give input.
Each participant gets one dwarf. They get
full control over that dwarf. (That's the one on one part.)
What this means is that you give me every single thing you want your dwarf to do, and I make it happen in the game as closely as possible.
For example, you could decide to mine in spirals and try to amass a hoard of gems, even if you have no skill in mining. You could build a house for every dwarf. You could fulfill a more traditional role, simply farming or woodcutting or fishing as necessary. You could be a bum.
The catch here is that everything you do depends on the other dwarves. You can't mine if there isn't a pickaxe for you; can't build a house without stone or wood; can't survive if no-one is manufacturing the food and booze.
This is an exercise in creativity, cooperation, uncooperation, and frustration.
It's going to be slow as hell because I'll pause every time a dwarf is finished with commands.
With that all explained,
sign up now!Include name (if you want a special one), role title (a summary of your job - doesn't have to be an actual thing in DF), and starting skills/points.
Also give your input on starting location, equipment, and name. The world gen will be with default settings.
If no-one gives input on these, the location will have trees, soil, and water, with no other guarantees.
The default loadout is as follows:
2 cheap pickaxes
1 cheap battleaxe
1 anvil
30 plump helmet seeds
15 of all other seeds except for quarry bush and dimple cup
1 year of food, in fish
1 year of booze, with equal variety
2 cats - one male, one female
The chaos will begin tonight.
Just setting these up to keep maximum fun at all times, and clarity of how I'll run this.
1. Times are in central time, US. That means we have a daylight saving switch coming up soon. Precise times shouldn't be a big deal though. The hour of this post is 10AM, for reference.
2. Live hours are periods during part of which I could be playing DF. This is going to be most late afternoons and evenings, most all of weekends, and occasional other times.
Dead hours are when I'm not going to be playing DF, so commands will just queue up. I have classes and I sleep
3. After 12 live hours or one live period of no response (whichever is shorter), your dwarf will go into autopilot. After 24 live hours, two live periods, or 48 total hours, your dwarf is up for grabs by others.
4. You can give your dwarf up at any point. If you do so, you can put a hold on it, meaning you get it back as soon as you want, regardless of who is controlling it at the time.
5. Dwarves not being controlled by anyone have jobs designated by myself or whoever else has such power in the fort.
6. I'll post screenshots if they seem useful or interesting. I like to play with a pretty window. Deal with it.
