IC Thread.

Setting:
In the world of Dartnoth, psions are considered evil abominations, an affront to the natural order of magic. Even though many have been exterminated, thousands of psionics individuals and creatures still live in secret.
You all have your reasons to see them dead. Revenge, challenge, wealth, fame and power, etc. Luckily for you, there is an informal inquisition of psion-hunters, collectively called the Hunt. They are tolerated, feared and respected by the general population for their efforts and methods.
Their membership requirements are quite strict, as a matter of pride: only professionals are allowed to dish out justice. One must participate in a number of Hunts, under the guidance of a Hunt-Master before they are accepted into the Hunt’s ranks.
The queendom of Tomann is hosting a tourney for prospective Hunters, overseen by the Hunt-Master Logan Trenar. You have all stepped up to prove yourself as potential Hunters, along with hundreds of others. This is your one chance for greatness, but you’ll have to fight for it.

That was a wall of text. So what's actually going on?:
This is a D&D 3.5 campaign based around hunting down psionic creatures. It is a sister campaign to Kalgena, as they are occurring at the same time, on the same continent, in the same world. The parties are welcome to interact.
32 point buy, first level. Rolls for HP  and money.
Due to the setting, I am working on new prestige classes. They will be revealed later.
Even though it sounds like psionic characters would be banned, they are not. However, you will be closely watched by your team and your superiors. You still have to be constantly vigalant, doing your best to avoid young, eager Hunters who are looking for an easy kill. If something goes wrong, you will be the scapegoat. Basically, everyone will hate you and will want to kill you.

The standard game would be starting at first level, with 'quick' level ups for a Play By Post game.

The Second Option sounds interesting indeed. I am however very unsure how it would play out, so maybe testing the method in a smaller setting first would be adviseable. Another problem that I would see with that method is character creation. As soon as it does pick up interest, there would be likely to be far too much choices that the players easily agree on which chars to vote. I imagine that those of us not so well-versed in DnD would vote based more on character concept than the practical use s/he would be in the party.

While I doubt that writing for the characters that make up the party would pose much problem to an experienced DM, driving along character developement all by yourself is, well. Something of a feat, I guess? So it really would be interesting to see how it would work out, but maybe rather on a "disposeable" campaign.

Not sure how relevant this part is, but what I am currently working on goes into somewhat of a similiar direction - though it will not be a DnD game. Either way, 6 players with their normal hero characters, plus a suggestion-character that is... certainly far less normal a character. More like a sealed demigod that employs the players to help him back to might? Yeah.. not really all that relateable. I guess.

-snip-
Those are valid concerns, and I'd like to address them.
Firstly, the reason I didn't cap the number of characters in the SG type was so we could have many, many concepts mashed into one game. I'm totally willing to have a bard who only danced, next to a standard sword and board fighter.
I doubt that players are really going to mind if I don't do much character development for the PC's in this scenario.
Good luck with your game! That sounds cool!

Free LA is a thing, of course. You just get one level of it. If you want more, buy it off with templates.

More homebrew rules will be added latter.

So I've got 4 votes for the standard game and 1 for the SG, and 4 definite "I'm in"'s: GiglameshDespair, Harbingerjm, lawastooshort, and AlleeCat. I'll cut the voting down by a day so we can move forward.
