hey guys, i got new on my war against the humans: I think I won

I'm checking this out now and will post the results soon. Remember the terms given in the first post are:
Quote
* If a civilization has no sites at the start of that player's turn then that player is OUT.

Broseph Stalin (humans) has the next turn so everything is down to whether the human civilization still runs any sites or not.

AND IT'S CONFIRMED!

The human civilization "The Realm of Tours" controls no cities, hamlets or other civilized sites. The first species has fallen!

In other news it seems that the legends viewer utility can not be relied on for site counts. Whoops. So I won't be using that for any future rounds.

I think elves might be mechanically the most difficult race to get rid of despite how terrible they are at everything.

You forgot fires.  Burn every named tree.

And if you ever get ahold of a secret book you can do pretty well with that.

I think you did eliminate the Weatherwhims forest retreat, leaving them with 9 sites. I'm checking that now. Not that it makes much difference.

[EDIT] Nope, there are still two elves there and they say the Fortunate Intricacy still rules there (the original founding group).

Not a problem. The goblins are doing the whole "Mongol Horde" thing anyway.  I think I'll play the long game and just start training up lots of heroes who will invade sites and slaughter the innocent during other Player's turns.  The Dominant Daggers will soon be on the trembling lips of every sentient above or below the world!

I wonder if its just the fecundity of goblins that allows them to overwhelm everyone else - like vicious green rabbits.

Well, that was a bust.  About the only thing my fierce little rabbit was able to do is rename a tribe of animal-people up north.

Well, I'm going to do something silly this turn. Possibly somethings silly.

Quote
NOTE! DUE TO A NASTY BUG FORTRESS BUILDING TURNS ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK ONLY!

Yeah, that's the first silly thing I'm going to do. The second one will be left as a surprise, but is based on information my adventurer uncovered during my previous turn. (Dwarves are psychic, obviously :P Or, she left a journal. Yeah, I'll go with that one. She was accompanied by three companions, two of which lived, so it's fair game IMO.)

Because of the potential crash-causing nature of fortress construction I may skip my turn and pass Timeless Bob's save on to the next person if it turns out to cause repeatable crashes during fortress construction or for adventurers visiting the site (I'll test for that).

[Edit] Lol. 'Sneezy' has just turned up as a migrant.

So, my fortress building turn is over. I had an adventurer visit it to check it doesn't crash and it seems OK so I'm uploading it now.

52 Late Summer 19th Galena
Our secret and very dangerous mission has begun. Nay Armok have mercy on our souls.

Autumn arrives.
We are still alive. Shortly afterwards a dwarven caravan arrives. Of course we have nothing to trade, and the trade depot has not even been built yet.

52 Mid Autumn 18th Sandstone
4 migrants arrive.

52 Late Autumn 25th Timber
Our excavations have uncovered a great cavern underground. A barren muddy expanse, I quickly decide it is best walled off and forgotten.

52 Early Winter 13th Moonstone
Another cavern. This one is rich in vegetation and fungal trees. Just what we could do with. I only hope it is not host to anything particularly nasty.

Spring arrives

53 Late Spring 6th Felsite
Progress has been made, but not enough. We will not finish The Project this year, and next year may not come for us.

Summer arrives
Our location remains pitifully undefended. We can only hope for the best.

who would have thought that goblin bandits would be a harder target than unarmed human civilians...

i made yet another elf swordsman by the name of Adela Ridiemofe and ventured to pacify the region. So I gathered a motley crew of humans and dwarfs from Paperscale and set to kill some troublemakers. I killed a goblin master lasher in the dungeon of a temple (it seems goblins really love s&m) and then headed to a camp in the north. there we killed several gobbos (mostly my allies did, i only killed one and wouned two more) until i got into a battle with a wrestler. it seemed fairly standard, i chopped off his arm and then fractured his other arm, until he bit me into the head and killed me with one strike

X(

next thing you know, my adventurer's body is impaled somewhere in Treasurehell. i really hate biters!!!

at least i killed some outlaws, led to death only one elf and now i know what i want to do with my next adventurers. on bad news, yet another metal weapon from the now lawless human lands is lost. for the time being at least. i don't worry too much for now, but i really don't want to end up using MMA and copper spears on the endgame.

save is up

I thought of something earlier. When you successfully claim a site it leaves the original civilization, but it doesn't join _your_ civilization. I wonder if it makes a difference if your adventurer talks to a site leader of your civilization and chooses to serve under him.

Year 53 from Galena 1st to Galena 1st, was taken up with building the skeleton of a goblin "observation post", in the Plains of Tenderness, well out into the southeast of the other goblin lands.  The name of the place: Dotomlunzor "The Bloody Road"...

Incidentally, Maddam Pickpleat "The Flutes of Cresting" is a dwarf who serves the tortoise-demon "Scrapebite the Violent Seizure".  She holds one of two titles of "Lady of the Dominant Daggers" - the other held by Neblime the Courtesian in Ramscourge.  As such, she should be considered property of the Goblin race, rather than the dwarven one.

Also, the necromancer's Tower "Sensespraised" is still a human site, so someone should tell Broseph that the humans aren't really out of the picture yet.  Looks like there is a human woman named Destis ruling from Specialshocks as the Lady of 'The Band of Sprays" too...

The necromancer tower isn't part of any civilization. Similarly the 'Hooves of Polishing' owns specialshock, and they are an elf group. Destis was probably forced to collaborate with the elves and was left to run the place on their behalf.

[EDIT] I've done a quick check on site numbers. Dwarves and Goblins both have one more site (player gen fortress) than at the start of the last round. Note that it is quite likely that any attempt to un-retire either of those sites will result in horrible DF crashes.

It's my turn first, I haven't yet decided whether to risk a fortress turn or do an adventurer turn.

[EDITx2] Fortress turn is out. I did a trial run where I just let DF play itself and unretire after adventurer = crash.

Here's the first part of my adventurer's journey. Summary: Everything is insane.

54 Late Summer 16th Galena
As is now traditional, I pick up three drunks for company. Next stop: The Project. The last reports weren't hopeful, but I'm going over there to see if anything worth collecting has been produced there. My first battle scar is from an enraged emu. I hope it doesn't get infected. One of the drunks has heard that an army of goblins is marching on the dwarven fortress Gorgehelp! I hope that information is wrong. I spot a herd of unicorn, but leave them well alone. I check a known kobold camp on the way, none were there. They had either fled, or died.

Just before reaching my destination I find what appears to be a dwarf fortress in a location unknown to me. I investigate and find, a goblin! What madness is this? He seems to be alone and poorly armed so I greet him warily. Apparently his name is 'Snotty' Wingstole. He says the local ruler Mongrelbane rules the Bloody Road. I have never heard of either. I decide that it is safer to have Snotty at my side where I can see him, and not at my back in the dark. A short while later I find a goblin axeman. She flees at the sight of us, and my drunkard companions charge her. It seems her name is 'Bobby Jo'? My third encounter in this strange place is the goblin 'Jade' Monsterobyed. She seems open to conversation. I ask her about the local ruler, hopeing to get more details, but then she decides to run away afterall. I think one of my companions must have spooked her. I find a strange half-finished building. The floor is made of ice! There is a giant arrow pointing to it.

One of my drunks is chasing a goblin child. I shout out at him to stop, but he pays no attention to me and proceeds to beat her to death as I run towards them. We are supposed to be better than this, are we not? I no longer want them to accompany me and tell them so. Before we part ways I ask one of them for the steel crossbow he carries. I don't trust him with it. After some acrimonious haggling I make a deal with him, but he stole what I offered and gave me nothing.

Enough is enough, I attack! I slaughter the thief, the other two disappeared during the fight.

Continuing to explore the site I encounter the chief medicine goblin. I walk over to talk to her, surely now the drunks are gone I can deal with matters peacefully. However Snotty goes into a rage as soon as he sees her and strikes her down. This is all too strange for me. When I see the expedition leader Snotty kills them as well. Are there even any goblins left here? I'm not sure. I decide to claim this land in the absense of anybody sane.

54 Galena 16th

I reach the site of The Project. Luckily Snotty behaves himself. The Project itself appears to have failed, but I am able to pick up many useful supplies.

54 Galena 17th

The site of The Project is highly dangerous so I resolve to make my way from here swiftly. There are rumours of  a bandit camp somewhere to the west. That will hopefully allow me to hone my skills. Snotty is a good, if psychotic, fighter but is hopeless with directions. After using several dozen bone bolts in practise I feel more confident in my marksmanship than my swordsplay.

Returning to the site of The Project for some more bolts I encounter the Desert Titan. Terrifyingly strong and large, but slow of wit. In a moment of recklessness I decide to take it on.  I weaken it with the crossbow from a distance while the dull witted brute stands in confusion. Then I confront it and finish it off with my sword. Not an easy task, but in its wounded state I managed without sustaining a scratch. Hopefully this deed will bring me much needed fame for future tasks. And as The Project had failed, it wasn't like we needed that titan, Athe Earthensimple, any more.
