Bio: Giuseppina Abategiovanni was born to life on the seas... yet, she was not born to a life of raiding and rum, nor was she born to a simple sailor by any means; Giuseppina was born to Feliciano Abategiovanni, a fabulously wealthy merchant who had made his fortune by plying a lucrative trade in gold and jewelry along the eastern coast.
Theoretically based in Tunis, Feliciano nonetheless very rarely stopped in any city for more than a couple of days, preferring to simply live on the sea in his ship-- he had found his calling. Yet, he met a woman in one of these very short stays, and the two fell in love... but while pregnant with Feliciano's child and on his ship, it became increasingly apparent that she could not handle the life at sea that Feliciano prided himself on, and after she bore his daughter, she simply left, though Feliciano ended up convincing her to at least leave him the baby.
Though heartbroken by his lover's departure, Feliciano had his daughter Giuseppina now, and so he prided himself on POURING his wealth into her upbringing, trying to raise her to be happy and wealthy and wise. Of course, the seas aren't always the safest place, and as he tutored her in such subjects as commerce and history, he also taught the arts of combat and the axe. Giuseppina took well to this upbringing, and grew up to be much of what her father taught to be... although she ended up far more superstitious than he'd ever imagined, and far more obsessed with luck and fortune.
Still, even if she could be a little... backwards, Feliciano felt he had raised himself a fine daughter, and would have been perfectly happy to keep her on his ship as part of his company had she not proposed an idea of her own: a new prince would soon rise to the throne, and she felt that if she could serve well in his court, she could prove her worth beyond just being a rich merchant's daughter both to plenty of influential people and, more quietly, to herself. So (admittedly with a rather large payment of gold) she ended up as a part of the Prince's group.
