The wound looks like an glass-cut wound. It's a clean cut and there's no glass in it, but it needs sanitizing and stitches. Pressure and raising at the least to stem the bleeding. The wound isn't going to kill him, however.

Helga is there another way he can enter engineering without blowing the door off? As I've already stated, there are enough holes in this ship.
