There's a lot of fan art, especially of forgotten beasts, and usually with the original in-game description intact. The RNG must repeat itself, so... how about a program that skims google and pops up images when they match?

It'd be simpler to come up with a program that generates an image of a forgotten beast like a paper doll.

You'd require constant internet access and for the art not to go down, a lot of that art isn't indexed in a way that would make it pop up on a google search and it wouldn't cover every possibility since there's what, millions of possible forgotten beasts out there.

No need to be comprehensive. The times when you occasionally got lucky and there is a bit of art will be worth it, and it will encourage people to index their drawings. Look at it in a open source way.

Also, has anyone done a mod (dunno if poss) where announcements come with drawings e.g. your civ has crumbled? Would be similar to this, with varying images perhaps?

I doubt it. I'm prepared to work it into this mod though, and while we're at it, I'm sure you could include actual images of creatures, plants and foods where they exist. Do you think you could index your dwarven cooking thread to work with this once i figure it out?
