Why are guard actions public and goon actions private? If the powers out, and nobody has cameras, shouldn't all actions be private?

((Looks like fun. My first instinct was to wait a bit and see if there were too many people on one team, but I'll just join while I know I can get a spot.))

Heh, accepted.  Awareness does contribute to ranged weapon use, so good choice.  If you roll well on your character creation roll, you might even get another bonus to ranged weapons.

Why are guard actions public and goon actions private? If the powers out, and nobody has cameras, shouldn't all actions be private?

Its just for the sake of keeping some content within this thread.  If everyone pmed their actions and received the results of their actions via PM, nothing would actually need to be posted here until the end :P.  Players should still avoid using OOC information in their IC decisions, just like in any other RTD.  Guards can still pm their actions if they want, but the results of their actions will still be posted in the thread.  That way anyone observing the game will have something to read.

Character accepted.  I'm not actually revealing the number of players on the criminal team.  By the time the game starts, you could just be facing NPC goons or a dozen specialized player goons with crazy backstories.  You won't know until the game is over.

will make a character tomorrow
Reserved, will make character on Monday, k?
Ok, I'll give both of you a slot on the Guard team.

Question:  Is there a point to taking 1 or 2 points in a stat if it apparently gives 0 bonuses to rolls? Seems like we should take at least 3 or nothing at all.

Name: Kusil Zun
Gender: Male
Appearance: Heavy and burly looking, its a surprise that he is so agile and perceptive.
Bio: He became a guard because he found that his strengths made him perfect for his career. Now 20 years later, he wonders why chose his life to be like this. His lack of forethought often causes him to be ill-equipped at times, as he usually never bothers to take his equipment with him during the day. Some days it turns out to be a very bad idea. Days like today, to be exact.

Having 0 in a stat gives -1 to all related roles.

Well, as Tomasque pointed out, having 0 points in a stat results to a -1 penalty to rolls involving that stat, so having at least 1 point in a stat is a good idea.  Some equipment when worn also penalize a stat by a point, such as a gas mask which penalizes Awareness.  Having 2 points in a stat would allow you to wear equipment like that without receiving a -1 to rolls involving that penalized stat.  I think I'll probably edit the first post to make this a bit clearer and list a sample of the items that can be obtained.

Accepted.

Now that we have 5 guards, I'll start working on part of the first turn.  Just need to wait for the character sheets for Moonlit and SpiderKing.

Name: Aria Gordon
Gender: Female
Appearance: A tall girl barely in her early 20's.
Bio: She isn't stupid, but couldn't see the point of putting her mind to school. So naturally, when it came to look for a job, most seemed completely boring. Except this one. A year has passed since then, and now she's changed her mind about this being not being boring. Or so she thought...
Stats:
-Strength: 5
-Agility: 5
-Endurance: 1
-Mental: 1
-Awareness: 1
Items:
Ranged weapon (1), Melee weapon (3), Utility (1)

Accepted.

I expect to have the first turn done before Tuesday night.

Edit:  Hmm, still need Spiderking's character.  If he doesn't post a character sheet before wednesday, then I'll just start with 4 guards and allow him 1-2 more days to submit a character sheet before his reservation expires.

I am having Internet issues and a technician is coming to fix them tomorrow (using phone atm). Will make a guard as soon as possible. I don't mind coming in late if you'd like to start the first turn without me. I could be driving a prison bus or having bowel issues or something until I actually get into the game.

Ah, ok. understood. I'll start the game without you then.  You'll join in as soon as you submit a character.

When are we starting?

Working on the turns right now.  Just making some adjustments.  I should have it done in a little bit.
