Notes on Dialogue: It That Embraces 'speaks', but it isn't language. As far as a microphone or speaker is concerned, it is both deaf and mute. However, It That Embraces can hear the meanings and ideas in words (or read them encapsulated in writing) and understand reasonably well, and is able to respond accordingly, able to 'speak' in ideas and pictures with anyone within line of sight. That said, it doesn't natively understand the constructs of language, which results in some interesting issues: for example, It That Embraces has a lot of difficulty using non-descriptive Names, usually replacing them with a sort of conceptual description of whoever it talks about. While it might be able to tell you who a given name belongs to, it struggles if given a person and asked to remember a name. Or consider puns and innuendo: if it is spoken to in words that mean multiple things, it will blink and ask you why you convey two things at once to it.
Some notes on the actual specific posts: [] are used to convey the Primordial's 'speech' as a whole, rather than "". {} enclose a proper noun, and when it is used, it should be noted that she conveys the identity of the thing (in details, history, features, etc) rather than its name. Depending on how I feel at any given moment, concepts that aren't exact English words or are difficult to convey or whatever may/use/slashes/and/multiple/words, (be enclosed in parentheses), feature question marks? after alternate meanings?, or any combination of the three. I should probably make it consistent in the future, but ehhh.
'Clumsiness': It's not really clumsiness, but... Imagine trying to study a rock with an orbital telescope, or a microbe with a magnifying glass. Similarly, to her, things in this world are too small scale to understand as clearly as she might otherwise be able to, which has a number of negative consequences for her. For instance, she can't use worldly equipment. Again, analogy helps: imagine a giant trying to wield a child's knife. It's too small to properly handle.
Names: It That Embraces (In the Cold Darkness of Nothingness); That Which Brings the Soft Grasp of a Mother's Touch; The Lonely Primordial Who Wanders Through Existence; Seeker of the Warmth of (Smaller?Thinner?Flatter?) Beings
Age: ??
Gender: ??(She or It are both fine)
Race: Primordial
Sex: No?
Appearance: A tallish, humanoid figure, possessed of an incredibly feminine, nurturing body shape. Its arms are long and difficult to number, more like tentacles that end in hands than arms proper, and range from two to eight, with their length utterly impossible to know. It seems to have no anatomy to speak of, with the exception of the eyes on its head. No less than seven, no more than twenty-one. Long plumes of midnight hair fall over the back of its head (or her head?) like waterfalls of darkness, absorbing any and all light without a care. IN contrast, the rest of her body (aside from the eyes) is a pure, featureless white that illuminates nothing, yet can be seen in total darkness or in the glare of the sun, through rain or fog, though at least, not through things that block the viewer's line of sight outright. (can't be seen through walls unless you have X-ray vision, in which case she shows up just fine, even if there are no X-rays available.) It's safe to say that her skin color and hair color are not actually any color, but rather, the idea of white and black, respectively. In addition, her eyes are always staring at whoever views her. Always.
Oddly, people tend to agree on what she looks like from a subjective standpoint: ie, tallish compared to their idea of a normal height, feminine by their standards of what feminine is. This isn't to say it's an illusion: though she doesn't have any perceptible weight, she moves and stands normally enough, and is definitely solid enough for blades to get stuck in, or for walls to stop her from proceeding, or for people to run into, or for her to wrap up someone in her wonderfully warm, affectionate embrace that she's named for. However, her physical form seems to be more an idea than an object, shaped by the perceptions of those who observe it.
Personality: It That Embraces is a difficult creature for humans to understand at the best of times, but its core motivation is something very human: loneliness. It obviously craves companionship and affection, wrapping its warm, comforting embrace around anyone it can get its hands on. It rarely 'speaks', preferring to communicate with its actions. (Who knows how hard 'speaking' is for it?)
Level: 6
EXP: 0
HP: 65
Init: 5
Stats:
Constitution- 6
Dexterity- 6
Intelligence- 8
Resistance-6
Strength- 4
Synergy- 8
Perks:
Detached From This Plane Of Existence: It That Embraces is not of this world. The thing that interacts with others is but a small projection of its vast existence. This has several major consequences, but the most important is that it cannot die, per se. In fact, it's impossible to gauge its state of injury or lack thereof, as it appears exactly the same no matter how much it's assaulted. When its HP reaches 0, it stops taking actions, but otherwise, it does not visibly change. It still stands, it still stares at those around it. It will even instinctively embrace anything warm that touches it, and if prompted, can move around as though sleepwalking. It can continue to be targeted and take damage, letting it accrue very large amounts of negative HP. Once it returns above 0 HP, it springs back to life again. However, since its true health cannot be known, It That Embraces can also suddenly 'die' without any apparent prompting, only to 'revive' at an equally apparently-random time. By random we mean when the plot demands it, of course.
Formless Form Fatale: The lack of any internal organs or even a definite shape means that It That Embraces is immune to critical hits (though she cannot inflict any, either, due to her 'clumsiness'). In addition, she gains a +Dex bonus to rolls to dodge opponents, slip past a block or parry, escape a grapple, etc. Anything where she can use her undefined nature to her advantage against the more defined 'shadows' she deals with.
Brilliance of a Star Burning Upon The Earth: Due to its larger-than-reality nature, It That Embraces is easy to notice, and is always the first target considered in battle. Intelligent foes may choose to ignore her, but less intelligent ones (or just bloodthirsty ones) will always assault her.
All Embracing Goddess:Those lots of hands are good for something. Several somethings! ItE can make an extra Embrace-type action (so Passionlip, Warmth/Embrace, Lullaby) every other round.
Equipment: She's far too clumsy to use the thin shadows of this world as any sort of tool or armor. But manages to find loot anyways.
Pisces Essence
Type: ?
Description: Essence of Pisces Vertex. Gives the ability Light Barrier.
Light Barrier: Allows It That Embraces to reduce all incoming physical damage by 25%. Cooldown of three turns.
Sister's Love: Passive: Allies gain 10% extra RES for one turn after being Embraced by ItE.
Active: Summons the spirit of Sachi Honda to attack the opponent with a pair of massive lances. This deals 2d10+SYN damage to a single opponent and ignores RES, but causes ItE to lose the RES boost upon Embracing for three turns. Three turn cooldown.
Actions:
Passion-Lip's Love: Soul-Crushing Ten-bladed Embrace: (Basic Attack) (Level 4)(Passion-lip) In which It That Embraces assaults its foes in the most basic way it knows: by squeezing the life out of them. As one might expect, it's more the idea of a crushing embrace, and besides, it's impossible to tell objectively what It That Embraces touches, and thus it uses Synergy for its rolls, but does Melee damage. (3d6+8)
Level 2: If this attack lands successfully multiple times in a row, it adds an extra (Synergy) damage for each turn after the first, as her grip tightens upon the one she holds.
Level 3: This action can target multiple- effectively unlimited!- enemies. Damage is divided by the total number of targets.
Level 4: Even the Embrace of Death is welcoming and alluring. Enemies hit by Passionlip have a 10% chance to have Lullaby applied to them as well.
Dodge Charm: Amigara Evasion: (Basic Defend)(Level 1)(Dodge) It's called dodging. Dodging like your life depends on it. She's pretty good at it. Math is probably opposed Dex or something.
The Soft Grasp of a Mother's Warmth: (Main Action)(Level 4)(Warmth) It That Embraces performs her namesake action on an ally, the embrace that means warmth and comfort and safety. Heals the target for 9d4+Int ( 8 ), and removes one debuff. If there's no debuff to remove, it adds 1d6+Int to the target's next roll, as the sweetness of the Primordial's touch reinvigorates them.
Level 4: 9d4 + Int instead of 6d4 + Int
A Sweet Lullaby Sung to a Restless Child:(Main Action) (Level 1)(Lullaby) It That Embraces gives a warm, cozy Embrace, filling the target with lethargy and sending them towards the land of sleep. The tiredness reduces their rolls by Synergy ( 8 ) for one turn.
Gather Strength in the Stillness of Nothing:(Passive) (Level 3))(Gather Strength) It That Embraces recovers 2 (INT) HP per turn, slowly gaining strength from the vastness of her form outside this plane of existence. (Note: Can't revive her when below 0 HP. Probably doesn't work at all below 0 HP, but...eh.)
Level 2: It That Embraces can 'overheal', effectively having no maximum HP, although it nonetheless can't start battles with more than her 'normal' HP value.
Level 3:2 INT HP recovery instead of Int.
Taunt to the Shadows with the Immovability of Light:(Passive)(Level 2)(Taunt) After It That Embraces is hit by an attack, any enemies who witness the Primordial being damaged and fail to roll above their Intelligence on a 1d4 ('he without reason would not fear even God') receive a Synergy ( 8 ) penalty to their next roll, unsettled and/or demoralized by her complete lack of wounds after clearly being shot or stabbed or bitten in half or whatever.
Level 2: The Synergy penalty stacks for each time they suffer the effects of Taunt. This resets if they are able to resist for a turn or if they go without triggering Taunt.
Flare with the Awe of Greater Creation:(Main Action)(Level 2)(Awe) It That Embraces demonstrates her true nature as a complete attention whore makes everyone around itself painfully aware of her true nature. Has no effect on other Elder Things and such, but otherwise, when this action is used, enemies who don't resist it (her Synergy versus their Intelligence) must either target It That Embraces with an action or just kind of cower in awe.
Level 2: Doubles Resistance on the turn that Awe is used, as she prepares for the attack.
Inventory: Nothing here yet either.
Summons: She used to have many lesser souls, or so she may tell you, but they were lost to the Trespassers. Many of them... but maybe not all?
