Normal: Maria is noticeably taller than many of her compatriots, standing around 5'6''. Her hair is a deep red, tied behind her head in a bun and kept in place with a stick. Her eyes are an equally deep red, framed with thin red-rimmed glasses, standing out against her light skin. She is lightly built, but not overly thin, with the body of a perennial jogger over a boxer or a runner. Maria's stature and build are such that she appears to be two years older than her actual age, seeming to be an attractive young woman over a cute teenager. Her dress sense is quite modest and business-oriented, adding to the mature air around her; she's often found with a black skirt, long black stockings and a white shirt when she isn't wearing school uniform. Maria has the air of a mature businesswoman around her, despite being rather sweet and kind beneath her seemingly composed face. Altogether, she leaves a mature, albeit not overly imposing, figure.
Magical: Maria's hair is down in this form, extending a curtain of long red hair down to her waist. The tips of her hair turn silver in this form, seeming to fade into the moonlight at night, and inset on the right side of her hair is a small crystal brooch shaped like a stylized dragonfly. She is clad in blue and silver raiment, with a silver chestplate, pauldrons and a skirt of metal plates that alternates with blue cloth. Her silver chestplate covers a thin blue chemise, which extends over her sleeves to her gauntlets. Underneath her skirt, she wears white trousers over tough leather boots. Behind her extend four beautiful ornate wings, seemingly made from silver and silk, resembling those of a dragonfly, and a dragonfly is embossed on her chestplate over an upwards crescent. Her build is far tougher in this form, with a little more definition here and there, although most of it is hidden beneath her armor. She resembles a princess with an armored dress, standing resolute in moonlight.
Description: Maria is rather quiet, often keeping her voice out of something unless absolutely necessary; when she does speak, she is soft-spoken, albeit with a firm undertone beneath it all. This, combined with her excellent work ethic- Maria is often one of the highest graded students in a class, due to her hard work more than any inherent talent- lends itself to a mature, adult air around her. She sometimes worries about being unskilled, sometimes lacking confidence in her abilities or her looks. She is friendly, if reserved, and tries her best to watch out for her juniors, remaining polite even to people who attempt to tick her off. Maria's fury is rare, but when someone incurs it, her tongue is quick and her words acid. For the most part, Maria was instilled with virtues from a young age, and she tries to keep to them as much as possible, although she can adapt when the situation calls for it. She believes fervently in justice, but if faced with a situation where her sense of justice is triggered, she will prefer to use words to defuse the situation.
Background: The daughter and older child of an Italian banker and a Japanese nurse, Maria lived most of her childhood in Ectleyo in relative comfort. Alessandra, her mother, and Yuuto, her father, were often away on work, leaving the young girl and her younger brother Akira alone on some nights at home, usually in the care of a neighbor or a babysitter. However, they were nonetheless doting parents, caring for their daughter and trying to instil virtues in her, both of a secular and a religious kind; Yuuto was a devout Catholic, while Alessandra nonreligious. Nonetheless, they tried to teach their daughter how to grow up to be a good person, even if sometimes they disagreed on how this should be. Maria also looked up to her parents, loving them dearly for always watching over her even when their occupations made it difficult, and looked out for her younger brother, a rambunctious and chaotic, but loving, boy who was in every way but heart the opposite of his sister.
When she entered school, Maria was the center of attention, both good and bad. The good attention was for her hard work and her friendliness at times. The bad was often aimed at her looks; she always looked and felt out of place, whether it was because she was mixed-race or because, as she grew older, she grew prettier and thus looked much older than her comrades. Whatever the reason, Maria grew to be a quiet and reserved, but intelligent girl, something that carried on through her high school. She was always protective of the younger ones, who looked up to her, though worried for her occasional lack of confidence. Eventually, she entered the senior year of the local high school, and was known in some circles, though Maria was hardly notable in the social circles of students bar those who she'd occasionally come to the defense of; by this point, she was no longer the center of attention, much to her relief.
As she grew older, Maria grew less and less satisfied with what she saw around her. Though the world was prosperous and wealthy, she could see people suffering and struggling around her, both in school as bullies tended to pick on the less wealthy children, and near her home. Maria had also suffered herself from being bullied for her mixed-race status, and never understood how such behaviour was acceptable. She resolved, eventually, that she would become a lawyer, to bring about justice, and protect the weak. However, for now, it was better for her bide her time, maybe to build her confidence; after all, if she intended to change people's ways of thinking, it would not come easily. One day, however, Maria vowed, she would help to bring justice to the world, and help the weak have a voice that they may not have, either for lack of platform or by suppression.
