Keep making doodles, Ant! They're pretty cool. Same to everybody else, really.
I had another go at it, and I think it turned out more dwarf-like, but something was also lost in the process. I need to give it several more goes, I think, although this does look pretty coherent.
This excellent stuff, as usual, Tofu!
His expression looks more adult, steady and serious, I think. Or something changed slightly in the stance. You definitely got rid of the effete quality in his appearance I picked up before, even though I can't tell exactly how.
While the muscles are clearly there, the proportions of chest width and arm length don't strike me as being very dwarven (for an adult, anyway). Now that might just be me and my personal opinion of what a dwarf should look like, but I'll mention a few things that seem off
*to me*The first thing I see is that his arms are a bit too short. They do appear to be a little longer than average for a human, but I have always imagined dwarves as having arms that allow them to grip their calves when standing. Not knuckle-dragging if they have good posture, but with age, poor posture, and/or a little spinal curvature, knuckle dragging might happen. This might also be resolved by making the legs a bit stubbier, thighs and calves both?
The second thing is that the torso isn't wide enough. I see dwarves in my head as being barrel-chested. My shoulders are wide for a human's, and when I look in the mirror, my head, at the same angle his is, is a lot more narrow in comparison to my shoulders. This either means that your dwarf has a very big head (possible) or his shoulders are proportionately narrower than mine (maybe he's a skinny dwarf?) His arms also hang down, with little separation from his waist or legs, much like a well-muscled human would, instead of gapping due to very wide shoulders as I would expect.
The third thing is also shoulder related. To me, your dwarf seems to have too-round shoulders. Based on the apparent muscularity of the arms and the lack of excessive belly fat, this dwarf is no stranger to manual labor, or they have a very active metabolism. The shoulders seem to slant too much downward after the point where the neck muscles connect. Either that, or the neck is too long. Or a combination of both.
These are my opinions about what a dwarf should look like though. Mileage may vary
