Companion chit! Everyone is so distracted by the other barbarians, they don't even notice me getting up onto the balcony.
"What are you bastards waiting for? COME AND GET ME!"
Stay as near cover as possible to minimise the threat that archers would pose to me, while drawing as much attention as possible away from my fellow barbarians.
Snatching a chair up BABRBARBAR hurls a chair at the archer hoping to knock him off the balcony.
Behind the leading three, a few more barbarians rush up, wielding axes and shouting loudly. Another one rushes for the wall, and Barbarisan vaults off the barbarian and lands neatly on top of the balcony, in the face of the archer. In a mighty blow, the archer is taken with a spear through the lungs, and dies spitting blood.
Niximos takes the position on the left wall, where the archer will have a hard time shooting, and shouts a warcry with the other barbarians. A moment later, that seems to be unnecessary, as the archer is dead and blubbering. The group of guards seems to be headed his way. With a speed that belies his age, the elder barbarian weaves in and out of his opponents, who possibly were heading for him because he looked vulnerable. They swiftly find out he is not, and fall one after another.
BARBARBARBAR grabs a chair and looks above to the balcony. The archer is dead by barbarisan's spear, but there's still the lieutenant of this place, and that would be a worthy target. However, as he throws the chair, it is hit by a massive, curved sword. The master guard is here and will defend his master. The two of them begin to circle, looking for an opening for their respective giant swords. After a few moments, they dive towards each other, slicing like samurai. The two blades each strike home true, but the soft man from civilization proves no equal to the barbarian, although the bare-chested hero was cut deeply from the guard's sword.
(BARBARBARBAR has taken a second wound, and is at 1/3 HP.)
Take the golden mace and try to destroy the black sword, then head out and follow the sound of the battle
King crow, looking at the magical artifacts, grabs the one deemed to be benign, and attempts to use it to smash the dark artifact beside it. As he grabs the golden-coloured mace, he is surrounded by a dome of blue light, which swiftly shrinks to a skin-tight fit covering the mace and the King's body. Slightly concerned, he reaches out and tries to smash the black metal sword. The only result of his mighty blow is a resounding BONG, as the sword rings like a gong, and the sound reverberates around the room.
With the sound of distant battle in his ears, and nothing more seeming available to do here, he runs back up the stairs and towards the battle, taking only a moment to slay the guard he bypassed on the way down, who is certainly no threat alone to a mighty barbarian.
The ballroom is mostly empty, with the guards destroyed, the master guard slewn, and the archer stabbed through the chest. But the mage-lieutant is still alive, and is capable of casting. With some mystic gestures, a wide ring of crystals appears around her head, floating through the air, and with another gesture, she is armed with a shield and spear made out of the same material. The hovering crystals spin for a moment, and then fly in all directions, aimed at the attacking barbarians.
