How do you succesfully rescue a Lord from an on-coming army?

So I just was able to grab a lord from a City where an army was marching.   It said I can have them come with me to rescue them and I'm curious how do you successfully do this?


Right now I'm planning to drag their Lord-ass to one of my Adventurer Camps out of Range of the Army, is that how it works or can you only move them to  other cities?

 :o never had this happen... probably because i destroy said town before "the marching armies" get to it.

My advise? Kill the lord and claim the site for yerself, then kick the invaders' arse when they come

Alas that adventurer had to be retired with the Lord living in his camp.   I couldn't really drop him off anywhere I think it's coded that you take them to Family out of the Town their in, but this Lord had no Family.


My Adventurer Retired to a town to die from an Infection eventually while I build up a Dwarf Fort in said world.

it's mostly take them as far away from the site hopefully to a nearby kingdom. they should drop out and thank you for the process.
you could just plop them into a camp to work if you want,
even the invaders too.
