Select Matrix is a good idea, but this version is a little ... thin on fluff and such.

Khipha Military Integration
The Khipha geological University, being a wing of the government, has never technically been officially categorised as a civilian institution, allowing it to come under the umbrella of all sorts of military doctrines and by-laws.
This inconsequential note means that trainees are actually subject to military laws and procedure, resulting in a far more robust training regimen, where they will be subject to more austere conditions than would otherwise be provided.
The resources invested in their training will not be reduced, but with careful beurocracy they can be reappropriated; from fine porcelain tea sets to military-grade abacus and slates, along with additional staff, courses, and the occasional military attaché, all to facilitate more learning and training into the new 20hr schoolday.

The increase in training, equipment quality and physical fitness, along with basic self defence training and a thorough quelling of any sense of entitlement will result in a more efficient and structured geological research team.

Only putting hyperlinks to the one you voted for?

Quote from: Ikusasa Select Matrix
The new Ikusasa cores are a great step forward for crystal manufacture, but they are still not as good as they could be.

The Itshanna select process produced very pure crystals, but at larger sizes even small flaws become too much. Ikusasa produces flawed crystals, but the flaws are all gathered into "dead areas".

By growing a slightly modified version of the Ikusasa matrix in a Itshanna select solution it should be possible to produce a crystal with the best features of both, very pure, with the flaws gathered into small dead zones (instead of the larger ones that plain Ikusasa produces).

The real change here is the tweaked matrix. The default design will not provide any benefit, since the dead zones are sized for flaws produced by a normal crystal solution. For an Itshanna select solution the matrix needs to be changed so the dead zones are smaller and properly distributed. Luckily most of the basic design work is already done, our engineers simply need to run their calculations again assuming smaller flaws. Hopefully the numbers work without extensive testing, but if not it should be possible to correct for calculation errors without ruining too many test batches

Fortify
Efficacy: 3
Guidelines are drafted for the construction of more permanent fortifications than those generally constructed with blocks, as well as a basic primer on the use of military weapons to harvest materials from the environment and to improve one's defensive position. While it might not be the most nuanced plan in the world, it's quite functional, and should allow our men to entrench themselves when not facing enemy aggression.

Fortify: Assigns a squad to begin constructing a more permanent defensive position. Tech can help this a great deal, such as cannons to blast rock, BLOCKs to provide material and tools, and so on. This tactic is most effective when performed without enemy aggression, and will provide increased defense the more times its used. Protection will last, even if tactics are changed, until the unit advances or is forced to retreat.

Ikusasa Select
Efficacy: 6
The merging of the Ikusasa process with the Itshana select process is a delicate and careful journey, but one that eventually does yield succulent fruit. Through purification of the growth, and concentration of the remaining impurities into carefully aligned strata, crystals of striking power and visual uniqueness can be created. While this project primarily allowed the medium core to be created using the Itshana select process, it also allowed for slight improvements in the Itshana process for all other cores.

Ikusasa Select: Applicable only to cores, the technique costs ore equal to the core's base crystal cost. The effective power of any core can be increased by 110% using a a hybrid Ikusasa-Itshana process. This effect does not stack with any other crystal enhancing effect.

Spire Wreth's Production Stands At,
13(+8)/y Crystal, 12/65 Banked
19/y Ore, 8/95 banked
19(+9)/y Wood, 0/95 banked
10/y Silk, 4/50 banked

It is now the production, deployment, and tactics phase.

Alright, well. The ships spoiler doesn't list us having three comets at TU, but I'm pretty sure we do, so...

Quote from: Plan A: We pirates now
Production
None.

Marines
All Marines @ Three Captains: Fortify.
Squad B-A: Unload at Wrackspire, Advanced Navigation.
Squad B-B: Unload at Wrackspire, Massed Fire and Charge

Ships
WOSV Marge: Load Marines, move to The Unfinished, unload Marines. Omnomnom.
WOSV Shibboleth: Move to Wreth.
WOSV Batholith: Move to Wrackspire, unload squads B-A and B-B.

3xComets @ TU: Move to central Kasgyri Demispire. Tactic: YARR

Some people want to split up our pirate fleet. I think they will be more effective as one group of three than they would as three groups of one. I could also accept a group of two, and a scout sent to Kasgyr.

You forgot the squad B-C ( it is in shibboleth, right?)
Also, the scout at TC should keep scouting.

Shibboleth, I think is already in wreth.

And I think sending 2 to pirate and 1 to scout kasgyre would be good.
