A Drab Plane Game of Gods [Godgame][IC] [More Brackets]
« on: May 30, 2018, 07:21:36 pm »

(OOC HERE)

Turn 1. In which the gods appear - cockroaches swing from trees - a mortal prays - planes are seen -  the first page is written

Reality is composed of many laws, the mundane and fantastical. There are the laws of reality that enforce a modicum of stability and allow for the development of order. There are laws of thought which determine what souls are capable of what and how. And there are the laws of loops that exist in between those layers of metaphysical text and imagery that by all right shouldn't exist, but continues to be quoted again and again. Reality is a fragile amalgamation of all these laws that somehow create an existence that gives off the sweetest and most luxurious of materias in all that Is and Is Not.

Essence.

It is Essence that breaths life into the barren Void, that which births new beings that can think "I am" and have the power to say "I will". It is only through these pockets of Essence that a being of the Void can spring into existence, and by them, grow in power. However, such beings are not born without effort, nor born without care. The universe cares for its kith like children beloved, and allows only their emergence at the first sign of nourishment.

The First Prayer. In the wails and desperation of the first true act of grovelling to higher powers, the amniotic sacs of five divine newborns burst open.

Phendei first slithered out of her womb, covered in Essence-bristling scales of lightest white. It bore with it the Word of Power: Health within its serpentine mind.
The being only known as Richard Nixon, who surely could not be a crook in its young age, emerged as a cacophony of lines-forming-shapes, representing the Tides of Ambition.
From another sac shot forward an ear of pristine and perfect Corn, Fyiania. She who commanded all things Topsoil, all would become fertile wastes of organic substrate.
Lancing his own sac, Prince Sullun galloped forward into reality upon itself/a steed and bore in his hands the Word of Power: Hierarchy.
Lastly, but not least, the sac of the last god exploded in an essence-filled gore, revealing Trinitrius who bore the Mark of Explosions.

But it was not only these mewling newborns that were attracted by a mortal cry, but others beyond the safeties of Reality. As the metasound spread through the Vines of the Void, a million million hungry divines and entities emerged from the Dark. Each desired entry into the virgin world, each desiring a taste of the pure Essence it held. In the end, 5 entered, with an invisible force preventing yet more from approaching.

X’arilyg, of Mind and Soul, Hope's Mediator
Bal-Magoth, of Fire and Domination, The Lord That Will Be and Shall
Mengeshen, of Ocean and Lightning, The Storm Never Ending Nor Ceasing
Korluc, of Chaos and Creation, Twin of the Primal Concept of "WILL BE"
Culrok, of Destruction and Order, Twin of the Primal Concept of  "WILL NOT BE"

The gods looked at each other cautiously.

Under a blue sky was a world, much like Earth. It was a hot world, a world of much life and many creatures all living them in the way they had done for millions of years. Life indeed had continued without end, without true interruption, for generations beyond count. From the first compound that screamed to the universe "I AM!", to the great tree-swinging cockroaches that dominated the jungles, each had evolved and been without divine intervention for their whole existence. Whether there was disaster or bounty, whether there was grief or celebration, each being lived by its clock, and by its own rule. They were, as it was, Innocent.

In this time, there were but two continents. One greater, that stretched from pole to pole, and one lesser. This lesser one was smaller but was the very heart of the world's desire for it contained within it the very product that all things needed in the Void: Mortals.

On this continent, a peculiar lizard had evolved and grown. It had used its intelligence, its own mind, to sustain its survival. Countless generations of these creatures had thought and developed to the point that there soul no longer screamed "I AM" but "I AM AND WILL BE". In effect, they had become true sapients. Across a small segment of this continent, these rudimentary sapients developed as small bands. Some sedentary, some nomadic, depending on what food was available. Some hunted the great squivos that lurched upon the savannah, whereas others fed on the rich seeds of the kapopo tree. Some took to living in caves, others created temporary nests of leaves, and others resided on the backs of the titanic berkos, which tolerated their existence for the grooming they provided.

While all good sources of Essence, it was one particular group that sparked the emergence of the gods. A group of jungle-dwellers, they survived in shadow of the great three-peaked mountain, which they knew, grew angry every few generations. When its anger reached that point, it bled red hot earthblood and destroyed all it could touch, laying waste to the local people's home and food. Those would be the lean years. The skies would darken, the plants would wither, the prey would lessen, and home would be gone.

It was once more that time. The three peaks had exploded and the mountain's blood was even now, destroying Home. The tribe and the families would become fewer, once more. Such was the price of living in Paradise.

This time however, it was different. Rather than merely accepting this as the state of affairs, one elder thought to the sky, not idly as others had, but with conviction. Can we be saved? Is there a sacrifice possible to save Home? Is my life worth the aid of something greater?

It was that thought, that idea, that triggered the birth and calling of the Gods.

Such began the Age of the Divine.

The Gods watched with interest and saw all this, but they saw yet more. Around the plane of Reality, but before the edge that lead to the Void, lied empty space. Empty space save for 4 concentrations of incredible, tantalising Essence. No matter what they did however, they found that they could not devour them whole, nor take bits or pieces. They soon knew what they were. Planes, minor realities that existed attached to Creation that embodied particular concepts and themes. Pacts could be forged and their power borrowed. The 4 were:

The Elemental Plane of Fire.
The Elemental Plane of Air.
The Elemental Plane of Water
The Elemental Plane of Earth.

The gods could also see the shimmerings of other planes not yet formed. Even the gods could not predict when they'd appear.

The gods feel that they need to settle down. All gods must designate a Vault location within in the next 2 turns. This is a free action.

"In the shadow of all these things there will be the corn

The corn is mercy
The corn is love
The corn is understanding
The corn is courage and sorrow and the hope that tomorrow will be
     if not better than today
           at least cornier
"

Fyiania sets up shop in the Plane of Elemental Earth, spreading her roots deep into the rich topsoil. She then attempts to form a Pact with it.

”The Entity of the Eyeball sees much progress that must be preserved in the Realm of Reality, and that for the story to untwine we must all make our own impact onto the world and of the other planes”

X’arilyg decided to spread its essence onto the Plane of Water, corrupting the oceanic water into a bubble of dark purple aura and of sporadic white stripes around the sphere that expands in the Elemental Plane of Water, the designation of X’arilyg has been created

X’arilyg sees if it itself can create the first servant for the divine universe, and deviates an amount of ten essence to create a Major Servant in the image of one of the many configuration

X’ariyg creates the first Major Servant, Providence, a symbol of enlightenment and progression, the shape it takes is off a floating pyramid entity with multiple distinguished eyes that takes it place, having the power of its will and the manipulation of lesser minds of itself (10 Essence)

If Providence can perform a Action the turn it was created, it will go to the Savannah and assert superiority and even see if it the sapient reptilians are capable of Paleolithic livelihood, understanding more of the intricacies of their coexistence to the planet

There exists no medicine to cure a burning mountain. Phendei cannot help the lizardmen today. She slithers away, headed north of the three-peaked mountain, into a low-lying basin through which a lazy river meandered. Here, a drop of venom drips from her fangs, and soaks into the ground.
Subsequently, the land trembles, and splits, and gives birth to a structure of gleaming white stone. Domes, pillars, and spiral towers, carved with the likeness of serpents, stacked haphazardly to form a great temple. Deep within, sealed by doors of divine sapphire, Phendei creates her vault, where she might rest when needed.
Not finished, she imbues the temple with essence, causing the highest tower to gush forth water. Spouts and gutters emerge from the stone, channeling the water around, over, and through the structure, before it finally cascades onto the surrounding area. With impossible swiftness, the ground is saturated, and muddy pools are formed. The morass spreads quickly, soon encompassing the entire basin.
Phendei descends from her temple into the quagmire, surveying her new swamp. Where she goes, plantlife is transformed- adapting to the new conditions, thriving even. Trees bear fruits of every colour, flowers bloom with a million different scents, whilst roots and stems are altered in more subtle ways. Amongst their number, one might find a cure for most every ailment- but caution would be well advised, for one could find poisons (and toxins and venoms) of all sorts as well.

Phendei creates her vault north of the Three-Peaked Mountain, in a temple of gleaming white stone. She surrounds this temple with Phendei's Swamp (Create Region, -2E), which she fills with plants of both medicinal and poisonous natures (Create Ecosystem, -6E (or -9E if considered 'fantastical'))

Ahhh yesss... a lush virgin world, ripe for taking and dominating. Bal-Magoth's ever displeased visage eased for a slight moment. Here he was in a land of plenty, and his competition were mewling newborns with few nomadic spirits for company. He, of course, thought himself above the immigrants- he was a Lord of many a world that he left behind, either burnt to cinder for displeasing him, or shattered in  cataclysm as he refused to let go. One mortal race always seemed to stand in his way, and that race repeated itself throughout the multi-verse, like a cancer.

He liked them well enough for their malleability, their minds that he could dominate, but in the end, they proved a plague that even he had a hard time to control. Herding the proverbial celestial cats, one could say. The myriad of races of Men must not be allowed to thrive in this reality as well... which was ideal, for they have not occurred here. The grand project became ever so sweeter and easy to carry out.

Bal-Magoth became immediately drawn to his element, and the Plane of Fire. The geyser of essence and power to use were his own in this reality and it seemed that the fiery dominion would be his alone to control, unchallenged by anyone else.

With practised ease he slips into the fiery plane and begins his work. Imbued by the background essence of the plane the smoky body of Bal-Magoth quickly reveals his titanic appearance. As he scooped up the shimmering essence and impressed his will upon it, his Vault began to take shape - a large temple, made of black volcanic stone began to rise. Within it, tall statues of himself, holding up the ceiling as columns and pillars. On the walls he engraved many scenes of his previous conquests - stories of the worlds burned and dominated, and of the many mortal races vanquished and consumed by the flames. Their skulls underneath Bal-Magoth's foot were a silent witness of the power of the Lord That Will Be and Shall.

At the very end of the temple, large obsidian seat he erected, of chipped and rough stone that seemed to be made of a single enormous piece. Bal-Magoth would rest not in any other way other than as the Lord of his domain.

Bal-Magoth sets up his throneworld in the Plane of Fire - he creates The Obsidian Throne (Vault) in there. Bal-Magoth attempts to make a pact with the Elemental Plane, taking it into his sole custody.

Interlude.
(Other actions will be processed at the end of the turn)

Fyiania takes root in the Elemental Plane of Earth. She finds it quite cosy.

X’arilyg coagulates the oceans of the Elemental Plane of Water.

Korluc settles directly on a currently active volcano.

Prince Sullan stables himself/his steed in the Elemental Plane of Air.

Culrok settles directly on the antipode of the currently active volcano. That is, the bottom of the ocean.

Mengeshen establishes a home in the not-so polluted parts of the Elemental Plane of Water.

Phendei established a vault north of the currently active volcano, beyond its range presumably.

Bal-Magoth takes sole occupancy in the Elemental Plane of Fire.

...

Fyiania attempts to make a pact with Elemental Plane of Earth. The Earth opens and shares its blessing, but it does not bend to her Will. Pact Established. 1E Base Earth Essence (EE) granted per turn.

Bal-Magoth attempts to claim the power of the Elemental Fire by right of occupancy. The Fire rises and grant him boon, but deigns not to now . Pact Established. 1E Base Fire Essence (FE) granted per turn.

The Elements do not seem to recognise either of the gods as their masters.

Prince Sullun makes a pact with the Elemental Plane of Air, lose his own head if it weren't attached.

"But stay thine hand, O holy Undisclosed,
A youthful world is this, in which are grown
Scaled peoples undeserving end proposed:
I see no crime so great, nor sin t'atone.
Indeed, now let there be a high abode,
The Nephoros peak and a lofty road.
"

Prince Sullun creates the Nephoros, a towering cloud in the Plane of Air topped with his vault and encircled by a permanent wind ascending and descending. (-2E)

Tired of this silly poetry and being awake but not wanting to waste time, Prince Sullun also creates Whim, a minor servant in the form of a stereotypical cupid. (-3E) Once Sullun gets a chance, Whim will be sent to offer wings to the poor, flightless lizards.

Mengeshen returns to the Material Plane. He scoops a handful of clay from the ocean floor, and forms it into a jug with his mighty hands. He engraves it with delicate runes using the spine of a sea urchin. Then, he calls a magic thunderbolt down from the heavens and guides it to strike his creation. It sears the jug at thousands of degrees, transforming it into a solid artifact.

It is the Unquenchable Jug. All liquids poured into it are absorbed, and can only be released if the Jug's possessor wills it (or if it is destroyed). The Jug can hold up to a lake's worth of liquid because of this special property.

Mengeshen uses his newly-created artifact to carry enough water to harden the flow of lava.

Korluc Created a major servant(10E), it would be known as Lars the Iron man (Description). Lars would be sent forth to the nearby tribes to tell them that "A Great being" would be willing to help them survive the great disaster, but would have some strange requests which would be fulfilled in exchange.

Even as other gods sought to quench the fires of the Three-Peaked, Phendei decided instead to offer sanctuary to lizardfolk fleeing the mountain's wrath. She reached out into the dreams of one of their elders, a man by the name of Suono, telling him of her swamp, and how he might find a safe haven there. She offered the gift of plant-ken to him, that he might identify what plants could be eaten and which would kill, so that his tribe (and any others who might follow him) could survive in her realm.

Phendei 'creates' a champion named Suono (Tier 0, 2E invested, total cost 3E. Hears the voice of Phendei, can identify the properties of plants). She bids him gather all who will follow and migrate into Phendei's Swamp.
