Design : Krakenblade Spine (Average Difficulty)
2+4 = 6: Above average

The new blade core proves just what the Krakenblade needed to actually work. With a spine to work off and stabilize the blade, it no longer shatters upon striking its first target, and also can persist twice as long after the user uses the dash part of the special. Granted, in this case 'twice as long' means 'about four seconds', but that, combined with the ability to potentially take down more then one target, should still work wonders for the blade's usability. Using the hilt as a conductor for the energy also improves the dash, somewhat increasing it's range and allowing users to do a 'blade dash'. Or, otherwise, a dash at the same time the sword is swung, striking all targets between the starting and stopping point, though this will burn out the special and prevent the use if it after the dash is over.

Lastly, the base time of the special is increased to around fifteen seconds, and the hilt+spine, with its larger, less finicky components, is no longer Complex to build.

So, weather conditions are a thing, Lets make a system that predicts the weather patterns in advance, Then we can design equipment to take advantage of current conditions.

Dofley, Warrior-Poet
Hero

Trained under military escort, Dofley will show the world what Octoling Sub-Races can accomplish when they play to their strengths. As a Giant Octoling, it only made sense to issue Dofley our largest primary weapon, the Splatling, and an oversized custom Ink Tank with twin pumps to feed it. Additionally, Dofley has been granted access to a prototype Giant Krakenblade suitable for their stature.

Importantly, Dofley was chosen from the volunteers willing to brave the protestors from the SFPBSI for their artistic talents. Between battles, Dofley will be producing dramatic scrolls depicting their exploits. These scrolls will be sent back to Octo Valley to be copied and used in PR campaigns to combat the messaging from the SFPBSI and promote the use of specially trained Octoling Sub-Races in combat. With public opinion on our side, protests should dry up and Giant Octolings will be willing to join our training programs.

Design : Dofley, Warrior-Poet (Average Difficulty)
4+2 = 6: Above average

Dofley has taken to mounting an old style 'hilt only' Krakenblade on his extra-large Splattling Cannon so he doesn't have to put the gun away when he gets stuck in. Not that his reinforced Splattling Cannon can't just be used as a club when it comes down to it, which several protestors found out the hard way. His immense strength, even for a Giant Octoling, allows him to use the Splattling Cannon out into medium range at low firing speeds, and greatly increases his accuracy when at maximum fire. And speaking of maximum fire, his custom ink tank (Ie, two normal ink tanks with their systems interlinked together) allows him to keep that up for twice the normal time!

Oh, he still has the experimental giant sized Krakenblade too, even if he just uses his gunblade generally speaking. Somehow, he's managed to figure out how to control his Ink Energy so he can flash activate, and deactivate, his gun mounted blade with little preparation and warm up time. This allows him to use it with far more efficiency then you'd think possible from one of the old style blades simply by only having it on when he wants to hit someling with it.

Overall, Dofley should be an effective and skilled warrior for the Octoling Race.

...On the other tentacle, his posters don't really have that much effect on public opinion. Oh, Octolings often think they are cool or at least decent art, but it's not having any real political effect. Either because most people don't consider wall art as a reason to contribute against sign waving crowds, or because the SFPBSI have a series of posters showing him hitting them with his gun in that once unfortunate time when a group of idiots tried breaking into the training ground.

As well, the effort put into this PR campaign instead of training Dofley means that while Dofley is a well trained combatant, and his Ink Energy self control is amazing, he doesn't really have... well, any unusual or noteworthy combat talents or attributes beyond that. According to his trainers, he could have been even better if they'd had more time or had to devote less time to 'stupid publicity tricks' (their words), but c'est la vie, right?

The "Born This Way" Initiative
The SFPBSI are a problem. Not just to our efforts to defend ourselves from the Inklings and secure our future, but to Octolings and Octoling culture as a whole.
It's a good idea certainly, that no Octoling should be looked down on because they weren't born as capable at certain things as another, but that doesn't mean that races of Octoling with exceptional traits should be repressed instead. What these people are doing is actively oppressing Octolings that aren't just the bog-standard variety by preventing them from using the gifts they are naturally born with to their fullest potential, and saying they aren't allowed to do so, or aren't allowed to serve their country as best they are able, all because they're different.
This initiative seeks to show the people a better way, and show them how oppressive and harmful the SFPBSIs idea of 'equality' really is. Using art and music we'll show our people that they should celebrate their differences, and not let anyone tell them they need to be the same as everyone else!
