Chapter 006: Battle Signals at the Border Between the Pit of Fear and the Summit of Power

Fortunately, their tribute demands were easily met with credit surplus. Now the question remains - who requested their services?

More disturbing news come to shake the Council when Metallia Umbrielian, the long-time Signal Translator, goes missing.

Analogus Saturnine was chosen to replace her at this position, while the young Motorica Mimantean is made Coordinator of the Numbers, and the governor of Metal Abbey.

That is one of few problems that have became akin to avalanche and assaulted the otherwise stable production of the Order.

Voice of the Mainframe, Cylinderius Sanguine, ordered that cutting investments and supply for our scientists and temple for the time being is the way to go.

Considerations will be put into procuring some consumer goods from independent merchants.

Fortunately, the Mainframe smiles upon the Order once more, and ancient texts and artifacts have been found.

While normally they would be studied, Voice of the Mainframe ordered them sold to collectors to help revitalize our economy somewhat.

When the Shazarak Index established a pact of mutual defense with the Hurmars, of all the aliens, the new Signal Translator proposed something rather radical.

But the Voice of the Mainframe agreed with it, and normalization of diplomatic relationship with the Hurmars begun. Rivalry was ended, borders opened and Ionica Cererian was sent as envoy to the court of Gelui Tan.

This act alone seems to have convinced the Shazarak - once again - to postpone the fight against us for some time.



2253.10.3

Telescopio Geminian continues his journey through the distant rim-stars, and has found some new xenos to communicate with.

They seem to live on a singular, if gigantic, space station. Pistonia Hyperionian has been ordered to translate their language.



2253.10.21

The venerable Nasuz Demetor finishes yet another dig, and has 'cast off the hawser' towards Aldebaran.

Perhaps he will be the one to pierce the layers of the city filled with the corpses of millions.



2253.11.30

The Arcology slated for excavation and cleaning has yielded some interesting design for a specialized energy weapon.

It also was found containing some records of the Fall of United Earth; apparently, two philosophies on interaction with machines split the Humanity in two camps. One of them uploaded its brain patterns into mechanical contraptions, while others found this appaling and declared war.

These extremes are anathema to the teachings of the Order of the Silent Mainframe, and it is no wonder they were buried with the ruined Arcologies.

Grand Calculator Horologia Hyperionian vowed to spend her old age finding a golden medium, so that the Great War might never occur again.



2254.3.21

After long time of not reporting any significant, Telescopio Geminian has brought us a chance at resolving the long-time enmity with the Hurmars.

The wreckage, once memorialized, was emptied of the minerals which were sent to the Hurmars with full report of OSMV Chamaeleon's findings on the crash site.

As the war against Sharazak seems to have petered out, Voice of the Mainframe decreed that more attention will be paid to our vessel logistics.

Meanwhile, the language of the Artisan Troupe has been deciphered and treaties made to help enrich the culture of the Order at least somewhat.

A new threat emerges, this time from the Quvarians. This is, actually, not that bad, considering we have claims on some of their territories.

Daughters of the Mainframe, OSMV Salvage as well as Apostles of Silicon were ordered by Digitalus Capricornian to converge upon Lombidus system and prepare for the upcoming conflict.

First was Metallia, now it is Digitalus whose life has came to an end. A grand parade was launched to memorialize the man who kept the Order secure for the past 55 years.

Algorithmea Sable was passed over as the next leader of Daughters of the Mainframe; however, to soften the blow, she was made the Battle Mother, given her experience in the field.

The young but very aggressively-minded Motorica Oberonian was chosen as the commander of the Daughters of the Mainframe in the same time.

This report has been classified; Nasuz Demetor and his team have found some sort of quantum entrapment device in shape of an altar.

It took great strength to close the machine and prevent the emergence of something truly despicable into our dimension.

To further secure our diplomatic standing and external safety, Signal Translator Analogus Saturnine has managed to get the Order of the Silent Mainframe the associate status with Stellar Entente.

While this does not make Quvarians scared, it does help show that we're not without certain sort of friends within the otherwise cold and unfriendly galaxy.




2255.12.11

Military Buildup continues on while the Council prepares to evolve the society of the Order further.

The time draws near for the expected Quvarian attack, but almost all of Order's vessels are at Lombidus already, including our Assault Legions.





2256.2.19

Telescopio Geminian has stepped down just shortly before the Quvarians declared war, alongside Sharazak index, against us.

His replacement was directed to continue the charter of the distant stars while Algorithmea Sable took Daughters of the Mainframe and OSMV Salvage back towards the machine's borders.

It is up to Apostles of Silicon led by Cylinderius Phoenician to hold the flank against the vile Quvarians.



2256.7.14

As expected, it seems that the Sharazak are doing the heavy lifting and are the bigger side of the threat here.

They've already captured Nosaxa system and are probably going to make quite some inroads before our forces get there to battle them.

And the other hand, Quvarian vessels seem nowhere to be found, and Cylinderius Phoenician is already moving his forces past Klendath.

And speaking of Cylinderius, the young commander is becoming quite a warrior, which is good. We need any help we can get in this conflict.

Quvarians have begun fetching small flotillas of corvettes towards Klendath, but they seem very inferior in numbers even compared to Apostles of Silicon.

It seems that Kannam will be the site of the battle between the Outcome and the Daughters of the Mainframe supported by OSMV Salvage. Voice of the Mainframe ordered Rare Crystals to be used as focusing lenses for our laser arrays to help tip the scale in our favor.

Unfortunately, Cylinderius Phoenician reported sighting of two fleets equal to the Apostles in Wyither system. Battle Mother Algorithmea Sable ordered him to fall back to Lombidus and wait for reinforcements from Sol Shipyards to come.





2257.8.27

The Battle of Kannam was evenly matched, but the supreme firepower of OSMV Salvage managed to shoot down several of the Outcome's destroyers, which ultimately caused Sharazak battle-vessels to retreat.

Algorithmea Sable has temporarily taken control of Daughters of the Mainframe to oversee the repairs of surviving ships whilst taking back the systems captured by the Index.

Apostles of Silicons report a total of three Quvarian fleets slowly making their way towards the border with the Order.



2258.3.13

The Quvarian fleets have retaken the outposts all the way to Klendath, Apostles report, and then made a strategic mistake - they've split their forces, one for Unif, one for Alvyrra.

Althought the Apostles are smaller than any, the Council has stockpiled enough resources to create some Copper II Defense Stations, which has been secretly designed a while ago, boasting high-power UV Lasers.



2258.5.1

Council of the Order has decreed that the Great Game has begun.

Quvarian fleet has entered Unif system on the same day and Apostles has begun priming their Hyperdrives to get there as well, and the first of Copper II's is nearly complete.




2258.6.20

The timing between completion of Copper II and entrance of Apostles of Silicon couldn't be more perfect. Caught between the two, the Quvarian fleet has suffered great losses.

The Quvarians, too, have engaged their emergency FTL and disappeared from Unif, and Apostles of Silicon rushed to rest and recover at Lombidus station before the other enemy force gets there.



2258.10.22

It seems that the initial Quvarian forces have been dealt enough of a defeat that they've decided to retreat for the time being.

All fleets have been ordered to repair themselves and prepare for counterattack. Horologia Hyperionian and Nasuz Demetor have been called from their studies to help research and salvage debris left by both Sharazak and Quvarian vessels.



2258.12.5

And this is why we scavenge, why we recover and tinker with the debris. Horologia Hyperionian's teams had found enough debris and intact machinery to assemble two Digitalus-class destroyers from the debris of Battle of Kannam.

The newly commissioned scrap-Destroyers were ordered to hasten south and meet with Apostles of Silicon, which are still under maximum strength.



2258.4.10

Sharazak Index Boundless is en route to the Aldebaran system, and Daughters of Mainframe were rerouted to there intercept it. A Copper-II has been commissioned to help defend against the Boundless.

Galactic geography is in our favor; compared to other systems, especiall Aldebaran, Rukbat is vast in terms of distances between Hyper-points. Daughters of the Mainframe and Aldebaran Station might have just enough time to set a trap against the incoming machine fleet.



2259.9.11

Once again, the Mainframe blesses All Numbers with the power of the exactness. Boundless group enters Aldebaran when its Station finishes its second Copper-II Defense Platform, and Daughters of Mainframe and OSMV Salvage enter the field.

The machines, once caught in firing range of Aldebaran Station, prove unwilling to disengage. The Battle of Aldebaran commences just as we want it! Praise be the Mainframe!





2259.10.9

The Battle of Aldebaran starts, proceeds, and ends like Battle of Unif; the combined firepower of Copper II's, OSMV Salvage and Daughters of the Mainframe inflict losses on the Boundless, and the Sharazak fleet soon flees.

Valuable debris remains after the battle and Horologia Hyperionian is called to search and salvage it, if possible, with great haste.



2260.2.28

Another Quvarian fleet is discovered traversing through Klendath, and is headed, this time, straight for the Apostles' rally point of Lombidus Starbase.

Cylinderius Phoenician retreated from vicinity of the Starbase, trying to make it look like he's cowardly running away from combat.




2260.5.18

The Battle of Lombidus ends as quickly as it began; two or three Quvarian vessels are shot down before they ignobly retreat.

Meanwhile, the Hazbuzans have subjugated the weakened Hurmar Horde, taking at least that alien polity out of local threat equations.

Battle Mother Algorithmea Sable, who recently acquired the title of Admiral, has received reinforcements and is ready to attack and retake the heavily armed Nosaxa Starbase.

The war continues, and not even the Voice of the Mainframe seems to know when it shall end; but of one thing we can be sure, that the Order shall prevail, as it did for the past two thousand years.

Chapter 007: The Blessings of the Random Number God are Infinite in Their Benevolence

The Battle of Nosaxa is a lengthy one but the heavily defended Starbase returns into the hands of the Order once more.

Daughters of the Mainframe were ordered to stand guard and repair at Nosaxa in preparations for counter-offensive against the Sharazak Index.





2260.9.19

The Battle of Alvyrra is where the main fleet of the Quvarians is lured into 'undefended' outpost with the Apostles of Silicon jumping into the system few days later.

It is a melee that quickly turns one-sided when the Copper II fabricated by Alvyrra Outpost comes online; Quvarians lose several ships and engage their FTL drives.

Valuable debris is left and Nasuz Demetor was ordered to see what can be divided from the metal and silicon.



2260.9.24

Hazbuzan Syndicate has approached us few days after Battle of Alvyrra with research agreement proposal.

Given our political influence, Voice of the Mainframe, Cylinderius Sanguine, agreed to it.



2260.11.08

The first droids are leaving our assembly lines. Although still experimental, there's more interest in their combat capabilities than anything else.



2260.12.06

Believing that there is still more to have life than just research, Horologia Hyperionian has donned the robes of the Processor. It is a tough job, but her experience will mean she will succeed in her tasks.

Forgius Centaurean was promoted to the title of Grand Calculator to replace her, while newly ordained Trinaric Centaurean, a skilled Archeologists and cousin of Forgius, took command of OSMV Azure.



2261.4.4

Following our recent victories, the Council of the Order has declared that the time for counter-offensive is now.

Apostles of Silicon shall therefore enter Quvarian space again, to take hold of at least few of outposts claimed as goals of this war.



2261.6.12

A very observant radar technician on board OSMV Salvage has notified Algorithmea Sable that the main Sharazak unit, the Ordinate, have bypassed Nosaxa.

Daughters of the Mainframe were thusly ordered to make haste towards Shiigur Nebula cluster of stars, as the machines are no doubt attempting a flank attack.

To facilitate success, the Blade of the Huntress was activated once more few days later.





2261.10.22

Elsewhere, Apostles of the Silicon have found out that the rally point for Quvarians is Wiyter system.

The twelve vessels along with local outpost were defeated one by one, further pursuing our war goals against the coalition of heathens and machines! Praised be the Mainframe!



2262.5.12

Despite the efforts and haste of the Daughters of the Mainframe, the Ordinate attack Holden system, which is protected onlu by two quickly comissioned Copper-III Defense Platforms.

Armed with state-of-art sensors and Cavitation Collapsers, these platforms manage to shoot down or damage several of Sharazak vessels, but the system ultimately falls into their metal arms.

Our traditions of naval Supremacy are developed constantly, and our designers and engineers are better for it.




2263.5.20

With the retaking of Holden system by Daughters of the Mainframe without much hassle, the Battle Mother and the yardmasters of the Order have developed new classes of warships.

They boast improved computer and sensor hardware as well as brand new Cavitation Collapsers. One Tucana-class Destroyer and three Telescopium-class Corvettes were scheduled for construction at Sol Shipyard to reinforce Apostles of Silicon.



2263.6.2

It seems that the war, or rather how it is going, has begun to turn our enemies against each other.

Sharazak has declared Quvarians their hated rivals, and the heathens have soon reciprocated the gesture towards the machines!




2263.9.2

We had another battle at Unif System, but this time it was less dramatic and even less worthy of description, as Quvarians fled soon after the Apostles destroyed one of their destroyers.




2263.9.9

Evolving Society agenda has been finished, and the agenda of Display of Power has landed before the Council.

The Sharazak and the Quvarians will soon learn the cost of their mistaken assault.





2263.12.3

The Battle of Sharku starts as an extremely brutal melee when Daughters of Mainframe, in an attempt to take control of inner Sharazak space, are jumped on by the Ordinate right by the Hyperlane Point.

Despite near numerical parity, the lethal barrages from OSMV Salvage tip the scales once again in favor of the Order, and soon the machine-ships, most importantly, the core bulk of their Destroyers, is turned into molten metal.

Algorithmea Sable and Daughters of the Mainframe begun chanting the Song of Fire and vowed not to return from Sharazak space until end of the conflict, while Trinaric Centaurean was ordered to make haste to captured systems and study the machine-ship debris.

In total, only one Cylinderius and two Digitalus-2 were lost compared to the extreme destruction on Sharazak side. Praised be the Mainframe!





2264.9.4

Quvarians are getting desperate; they've launched an attack against Lombidus Starbase whilst Apostles of Silicon were parked some days away from it.

The battle was brutal and no quarter was given to Quvarians, who were then found to have sent another flotilla to Lombidus. Whether it was a timing error or wrongly issued orders, no matter.

Apostles of Silicon defeated both groups, providing more scrap and debris for venerable Nasuz Demetor to research and salvage.



2265.1.2

A space station was discovered within Tyl system, and its communications are now being analyzed by Temporia Velar.



2265.3.28

The Quvarians have lost their warrior spirit. Humanity has not, and their terms have been rejected.

Now Apostles of Silicon are singing the Song of Fire also, hoping to hunt down Quvarian flotillas while staging attacks against systems we claimed prior to the war.



2265.5.23

They've chanced upon this group.

It has been defeated, and the Apostles continue to Sing.




2265.9.11

The new station we've discovered is a holy order of whisperers and teachers.

The Council was interested in their services, although their prices are a bit too steep at the moment.



2265.12.1

The Mainframe is Silent, for there is no Voice to Speak for it.

Cylinderius Sanguine has kept this most sacred office in his hands for almost 66 years, making his tenure one of the longest in the annals of Order's history.

For now, the Numbers of all classes chant fervently, calling forth upon the Random Number God, after the datapad of viable candidates, encrypted and with its access terminal smashed, is annointed in Titanium Dust and burned in the Brazier of Diesel.

In sixth months, we shall know the name of the next Voice of the Silent Mainframe!



2266.3.19

Apostles of Silicon once again stumble upon a group of Quvarian warships when they emerge from a Hyperlane.

And once again, Cylinderius Phoenician has reported a victory shortly thereafter.




2266.6.2

Analogus Saturnine has been chosen by the Random Number God as the next Voice of the Mainframe! May the Randomness favor us always!

His place as Signal Translator has been taken by Anvilio Arian, a skilled politician and covert agent, and he is sure to use his position to weaken our enemies as much as to establish new alliances.

At the first Council meeting, the new Voice has declared his interest in pursuing a closure of the war with Quvarian heathens and Sharazak machines in next two years.

Elsewhere, Apostles of Silicon continue to sing.

And Cylinderius Phoenician continues his string of victories.

When the Supremacy Traditions were finished, the Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine has decreed his One Vision; to unite Humanity in pursuit of technology and spirituality derived thereof.

He also swore to recover and interpret the final pieces of the puzzle behind the fall of United Earth, and, to determine if there is a middle-path between flesh and the machine, to unite the two in holiness.

Chapter 008: Turning Inwards to Pursue the Matters of Material Prosperity and Spiritual Enlightenment

The battles against Quvarians have, to a small extent, became an routine of wrecking few of their destroyers before rest of the fleet retreats.

Apostles of Silicon continue to Sing.






2267.5.27

And finally, just as Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine, has promised, the Great Heathen War has come to an end! Praised be the Mainframe!

Not all claims were taken from Quvarians, but Sharazak were forced to give up some territory as well, including the strategic Jenna system.

Jenna system will be fortified, while Nethupa system will serve as trade and commerce hub for all the mining operations within the newly obtained systems in the south.

With how the Machines and Heathens soured their relationship with each other, the future of the Order looks relatively peaceful.



2267.7.3

Another way to safeguard the future of the Order is to get a defensive pact going - but Hazbuzi thought the same and earlier.

It was graciously accepted.



2267.7.19

To further capitalize on the Order's political situation after the recent victory, a new Official was recruited: Trinarica Deimian.

She has been appointed Translator to the Galactic Community, to further our agendas and perhaps prepare her for some advisory role on the Council, one day or the other.



2267.11.27

After countless salvage and research operations on Quvarian wrecks, Nasuz Demetor questioned the Council in respecting his desire for a little expedition.

Feeling that his life is slowly coming to an end, he asked to be let to open the mysterious, mountain-sized egg on surface of Pyla IIIa.

"It is an enigma I want to see understood before my passing." Said Nasuz Demetor, and the rest of the Council let him pursue his wish.



2268.1.18

A report from the OSMV Chamaeleon had left the Numbers both High and Low puzzled by this contraption.

Forgius Centaurean was nonetheless giddy to find out a source of dark matter. Even if it lies far beyond Sharazak space.




2268.1.18

Battle Mother, Algorithmea Sable, has retired from her position to help devote her amassed wealth and popularity to set up some charitable foundations for war orphans.

After a brief debate, the Council decided that both Cylinderius Phoenician and Motorica Oberonian are needed where they are - with Apostles of Silicon and Daughters of the Mainframe, respectively.

Thus, another was promoted to position of a Commander, and thus, the Battle Mother - young but very war-eager Admina Mimantean, who shall command OSMV Salvage.



2268.8.1

An asteroid has been detected on impact trajectory towards Dahlberg I, where the Yarrowreacheran Hivemind exists.

Although local outposts is targeting it with its own on-board batteries, the asteroid is very resilient and might not break up before entering atmosphere.

Therefore, OSMV Salvage was requested to prevent the catastrophe; Daughters of the Mainframe are currently too far and are scheduled for much needed repairs and refits to divert them at this point.



2268.9.1

A wholly different dilemma was debated by the Council a month later. A chance for weapon experimentation was too much to pass.

Hopefully the Uthabulans of the future will forgive the Council members, if they come to contact they whilst they're still alive.



2269.1.5

News delivered to the Council by Trinarica Deimian have caused a mixture of emotions, as it has turned our political situation upside down in that very moment.

Not only the Galactic Market was founded in orbit of Qara Binam, the homeworld of Quvarians, but more importantly, the Sharazak Index gave up their independence to the distant peoples we have little interest in.

All this means that further hostility with Sharazak, which were once most feared enemy, is no longer necessary, or even ill-advised.

The efforts of our Signal Translator were promptly directed to ensure peaceful relationship with Sharazak overlords, the Ma'Kar lithoids. Even the fortification of Janna, which was about to begin, was cancelled, and the allocated alloys will be spent elsewhere.




2269.6.12

OSMV Salvage finally arrived in Dahlberg system; just few volleys of plasma and x-ray beams rendered the incoming asteroid into fine stellar dust.

The dust is comprised of valuable minerals, and there's all indications that there's enough of larger boulders that they could be salvaged.

Trinaric Centaurean offered to salvage the debris, perhaps, into something useful or valuable or interesting.



2269.11.3

Compared to the previous Voice, Analogus Saturnine is much more focused on Order's internal economy and administration than exploration and expansion.

Taking upon the role of Advisor, he also promised that soon he will introduce new reforms and traditions to ensure Prosperity of the Order as well.



2270.3.1

Cylinderius Phoenician, leader of the Apostles of Silicon, has recently complained that Silence is unbearable, compared to the Song of Fire.

Voice of the Mainframe has found him thus a new job; to fight the various critters and drones beyond Janlohikassa system, a job he has taken up with much eagerness and fervor.

The enigma which so seared Nasuz Demetor's curiosity turned out to be a gigantic slop of primordial organic matter.

Satisfied, he has agreed to accompany Cylinderius Phoenician into the East, working to investigate the mysteries of the wilderness as long as he will remain capable to do so.

The same day that Apostles of Silicon begin their warrior campaign, Voice of the Mainframe announces adoption of Prosperity traditions.

He wishes to produce a strong economic base for the next pursuit - he believes that Cylinderius Sanguine was right, and the future of the Order and Humanity as a whole rests in combination of Flesh and the Machine.

Another great battle of the Eastern Campaign occurs in Tiernar system.

Cylinderius Phoenician was heard commenting that some of these lifeforms and automated drones actually provide bigger challenge than Quvarians did.





2271.1.7

The Order could not miss such an opportunity. An engineering ship was sent to salvage the wreck in search for technological blueprints.

This soon coincided with arrival of some Ekwynians who escaped the subjugation and annexation of their homeworld by the imperialistic Mrsshans.

It was soon discovered by the High Numbers that Ekwynians possess some latent psionic potential, something that warrants a study somewhere in the future.



2271.1.18

Another battle of the East Campaign is the Battle of Hasseleh.

Despite the number of Crystalline Entities being much greater than that of Apostles of Silicon, they are dispersed.

Cylinderius Phoenician is pleased with the resulting carnage, and the Apostles continue to Sing.




2271.2.2

Much like Algorithmea Sable, the current Battle Mother, Admina Mimantean has also taken a worship-like approach to the venerable yet incredibly powerful OSMV Salvage.

Meanwhile, Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine, decreed to another world be colonized - that of Trappist V.

It is slated to be prime industry world, where forges and furnaces will make noise day and night, and so, the proposed colony was fittingly named 'Convent of Sounds'.




2271.2.23

The science cousins, Trinaric and Forgius, continue to improve their skills.

While Trinaric is definitely prefering field research, Forgius is shaping up to the eventual role as replacement of Nasuz Demetor as the Grand Calculator.





2271.4.10

Unwilling to abandon the agenda set up by his predecessor, Analogus Saturnine launched the Display of Power agenda and begun planning for Favored Society.

A new salvage and exploration expedition was commissioned to find more information about Fall of United Earth. Voice of the Mainframe has pledged to finish excavating all three remaining Arcologies within his lifespan - the truth must be finally discovered.

Furthermore, he declared that most of wild jungles and forests on various planets of the Order are to be cut down. He even allowed the use of Volatile Motes to speed up the process, something that has never been done before.



2271.5.25

The victories and speed in which Apostles of Silicon are clearing up the East is too much for elderly Grand Calculator to survey and salvage alone.

Thus, a new science vessel and new leader were dispatched. Who knows what bounties and mysteries the newly-reclaimed systems might hide within?




2271.7.9

The development of Telescopium and Tucana was pinned on creation of only few vessels with the hoard of Minor Artifacts we have.

Both Battle Mother and Voice of the Mainframe decided that this would be infeasible in long run, as said artifacts are better used elsewhere and the income is not that high. What's more problematic is that X-Ray Lasers, like those onboard OSMV Salvage, require Rare Crystal lenses for construction, and we have almost none of these precious gems right now.

The remnant debris is enough to provide resources to scavenge and strange crystalline matter to research.

The remnants of Apostles of Silicons - one Destroyer and eight Corvettes - were sent to Sol for repair, refits and reinforcement.

A curious, temple-like structure has been found on Elgerot VIIa, one of systems scheduled for receiving the outpost of the Order.

Nasuz Demetor believes a great mystery lies buried here - if his body allows it, he will be designated to try and divulge its secrets.

The 'Central' part of United Earth enacted mandatory Patterning, resulting in transfer of counsciousness into the machine and abandonment of the organic body; meanwhile, the 'Fringe' rebels advocated for purification and genetic modification of the flesh, refusing to partake in Patterning.

The labs within Mainframe Cathedral's ruins were dedicated for development of exotic machine materials that could be controlled through brainwave patterns. This gave the Council an idea that, perhaps, a body could be fitted into a machine.

Engineers and Numbers of the Order inclined scientifically were tasked with development of technologies that could test this theory, and bring us closer to the compromise that could've saved United Earth almost 2300 years ago.

For once, the past year has been a quiet one, and the Daughters of Mainframe destroyed all of the mining drones they could. They're now preparing to return to Sol, while OSMV Salvage will keep watch over the empty systems and ensure safety of our scientists and construction ships sent in this direction.

A new design for a torpedo-delivery vessel, the Vulpecula, has been made by Sol Shipyard Masters. Boasting the recently developed Ancient Pulse Armor, it combines great demolition power with extremely hard armoring, which is capable to regenerating itself thanks to Regenerative Hull Tissue.

Half a dozen each for both Daughters and the Apostles are in plans, although it might take years before they're built.

There are two goals; the complete the annexation of Vanniko and Med Karash, and also to capture and take control of Qara Binam, the very heart of the Quvarians.

Daughters of Mainframe, were dispatched to seize the former goal; Apostles of Silicon, now under control of Ceramic Aurigal, were ordered to capture Qara Binam station and assist in orbital assault upon the planet which will be led by Cylinderius Phoenician. To help with all this, the sacred Blade of the Huntress was activated once again.

This time, nothing stops us from obtaining a clear victory over the enemy. Praised be the Mainframe!

When news reached the Council that the Hurmar Horde is now also attacking the Quvarians, Battle Mother Admina Mimantean demanded extra juice to be squeezed out of our warships' thrusters.

Now, Apostles of Silicon will cruise in nearby systems, to wear down Quvarian fighting spirit, while Daughters of Mainframe will capture Med Karash then move to Qara Binam and begin planetary bombardment.

Chapter 010: Approaching Perfection: The Compromise Between the Flesh and the Machine

The fighting on surface of Quntos is, quite frankly, brutal. Quvarians put up stiff resistance, and for each Defense Army we destroy, one of Order's Legions is also destroyed.

But even at this rate we have clear numerical advantage, and so victory is assured.

It takes almost three months to defeat all Quvarian armies on the planet, but finally, Order's banner is flying above the Holy Palace of Quntos.

Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine, sent a communication requesting Quvarian surrender and acceptance of our terms.

It takes over three weeks before the Quvarian leadership surrenders, but the war is won! Praised be the Mainframe!

Immediately, borders are closed with Hazbuzans and planetary and sector governors are set up.

Unlike the Order's space, the lands of Quvarians are ruled by the Hazbuzan syndicate groups, driving up crime.

While Quntos has been put under martial law rules, headed by Cylinderius Phoenician and his Legions, the bigger problem is Camburen (and to lesser degree, Genith).

These worlds need to be developed fast and their police forces quickly enlarged if they are to drive out the Hazbuzan gangs.

Still, it has been decided to move a few of the Quvarians to other Order worlds - Metal Abbey and Janlohikassa II - to reduce the overcrowding woes.

The new Numbers within the Order are Quvarians, Jhennlot and Gorothi. All of them are physically strong or very strong.

Once they're accustomed to living within the Order's social framework, their members will make great soldiers.

However, most of them declared themselves Silent and took upon black Veils to signify their outsiderness, and begun championing for reversal of our martial ways.

In midst of this, the scientists within the Order has begun working out the secrets of the drones as well as that of Irassians.

There's always a need for more industrial power, especially given the economical infancy our Order was for the longest of times.

Unfortunately, the situation on Camburen is slowly spiraling out of control.

Some believe that it might be the fault of Pendulus Deimian, although many point out the inferiority of Enforcer units compared to more militarized and centralized agencies on Quntos.

The Translators under command of Pistonia Hyperionian have struck the last of blows against the Quvarian State.

Utilizing the help of the Quvarian bureaucrat, and then implicating him in the security breach, the Order's agents were able to sow enough chaos to pilfer their research databases.

As it turns out, they've been having some experiments and research done on Psionics as well, much of it tackling some questions our own scientists had.

Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor was glad to announce that the secrerts of Irassian biology and virusology were useful for our own research.

Our Gene Clinics in particular could utilize this new knowledge, and medical personnel across every colony can do better and more for their populations now.

The attack of the Blood Host has been something of a surprise; however, all that was needed was one Copper-III Defense Platform hastily built to counter the pirates.

Battle Mother Admina Mimantean pointed out, however, what it says about internal security of the Order's trade lanes, and the Council agreed.

Several crucial Starbases have been slated for expansion and inclusion of patrol craft hangars as well.

There's more about crime, but this time it's positive news. Thanks to vigorous campaigning by Cylinderius Phoenician, multiple liaisons and agents of Hazbuzan Syndicate were arrested, and their criminal activities have ceased.

This is still a problem on Camburen. Therefore, it has been decided to move Cylinderius Phoenician and Pendulus Deimian around.

The Council of the Order has been working hard on the Higher Purpose agenda, and has decided to nudge the Quvarian residents a bit.

It's time to show them the Infinite Opportunities they have for growth and spiritual expansion within the Order, without the need to cling to old Quvarian worship.

The Ibanadar aliens appeared on the galactic map; it seems Sharazak machines let them continue on with their development until they created their first FTL-capable vessels.

Signal Translator Anvilio Arian personally welcomed them amongst the stars, hoping they will make amicable neighbours. Their presence, in fact, plugs one of Sharazak routes into the Order's space, if war would come to be in the future.

Unfortunately not every alien is comprehensible, or, indeed, of our dimension.

Ghost Ship of Hillos continues to be an enigma. Arithmetica Miranda was sent to improve relations with Wulveran High Kingdom once again.

The dissent between the Numbers needs to be addressed, and so the Council of the Order has decided that a separate branch of special Enforcer units is required.

Soon enough, this special bureau will grow big enough that it will warrant a leadership position on the Council, too.

This shipyard laid abandoned for centuries, and now it has granted uas a new ship. Like OSMV Salvage, the Dark Wanderer is equipped with some technologies our scientists didn't even consider yet.

Battle Mother has seen this as a good omen - and persuaded the rest of the Council to commission a new battlegroup, Sons of Mainframe, to include OSMV Dark Wanderer in its roster.

Cuprus Ionian, who has spoke with reverence about the Dark Wanderer, was commissioned as the leader of Sons of Mainframe and the Captain of the alien warship.

And so the war between Wulvers and Quvarian came to an obvious conclusion. With Sharazaks and Quvarians out of equation in local neighbourhood, the path of the Order is nothing but prosperous and brilliant ahead of us.

To better facilitate that future, the defense pact with Hazbuzans has been nullified, and borders closed to their subsidiary, the Hurmar Horde.

The voyage of OSMV Azure continues onto deeper parts of Hazbuzan space, and new First Contact situation occurs.

Termina Uranian was appointed the task of deciphering the signals coming from these strange beings.

Both contacts are resolved, and one of them turns out to be a trading enclave. Unfortunately for them, our strategic resource incomes are fairly robust at the moment.

The other are some spacefaring bulls and cows that other aliens, and from now on, us as well, call 'Tiyanki'.

One the same day that the colonists set foot on the soil of the Temple of Diodes, Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine, has proclaimed the Cybernetics Traditions.

"The flesh is weak!" Is the main tenet, and soon enough the gene-clinics across Order's space begin their surgeries and assemblies.

It will take about five years until everyone is equipped with basic cyber-implants, but such is the will of the Mainframe! Praised be the Mainframe!

Nasuz Demetor and his archeology team narrowly escaped a death trap that was laid on their dig, but managed to avoid the worst.

Meanwhile, the Council has decided to curb the activities of the Unseeing Veils. Their xenophobic naysaying recently included cybernetically-enhanced Numbers, something that soon will be the mandatory standard of living.

Motorica Oberonian became the Admiral, mistress of the battlefield, and Admina Mimantean became the Strategist, to guide our Navalyards and organize our Fleets better.

His summary does note that Hazbuzan agents and crime lords still have a hold on the populace, which prompted the Council to retain Cylinderius as the governor for few more years.

The Second Eastern Campaign has been announced by Battle Mother Admina Mimantean. It's goal: purge the Sarpocchus System out of the mining drones and escorting destroyers there.

All of Order's battle groups are involved: Sons and Daughters and Apostles, with OSMV Salvage providing the blessing and support of its numerous gunports.

Just a month later, Nasuz Demetor alerts the Council that a strange factory of alloys has been found on Temple of Diodes.

Careful probing and exploitation of the facility has commenced.

The Battle of Sarpocchus commences when the OSMV Salvage, which reached the system first, reported the discovery of numerous mineral refinement platforms.

Despite the numerous opposition, the highly-powerful cannons of our Pegasi and Demetors have overpowered the Mining Drones there, soon causing their total obliteration.

From within the bellows of the scrapped Ore Grinder, our Salvagers have managed to extract a The Surveyor, a potent astrophysical gravimetric scanner of ancient origin.

Unfortunately, we have no intelligence on Hazbuzan ship deployment, even their civilian vessels. Our outpost sensor technicians have been ordered to keep their laser-eyes open for any incoming signatures.

Digitalus Carinal, the Translator in charge of spying on Hurmars, did manage to obtain blueprints and design specifications of Hurmar vessels, though.

If this is all the Hurmars can throw at us, this will be a very quick and very brutal war. To better facilitate that, Rare Crystals and Volatile Motes were provided for use by military ships.

The Shield subsystem employed by Hurmars, however, warrants research and study. Trinaric Centaurean was ordered to take OSMV Azure into Hurmar territory, and, whenever possible (and safe), study Hurmar wreckage.

The Battle of Cheleb System, where the Hurmarian Sun Banner has retreated, turns out to be the only major battle in the bandits' territory.

Ternary Conquerors destroy 2/3 of the Sun Banner, causing the rest to flee in disorder. Then, the local Starbase falls and the local marine transports are shot down.

The battle wreckage contains many partially functional Shield generators, which Trinaric Centaurean was ordered to study as well.

About the same time, the Battle of Martag occurs, but Daughters of Mainframe easily disable the local Starbase and proceed to bombard Hurmarian capital planet.

Recently a new faction spread its ideology amongst the Order's Numbers, that being Subprocessor Oracles.

This somewhat fringe school of thought posits that not only the Mainframe, but its Subprocessors, have Signals that can be Translated, and furthermore, those signals are present in those with cybernetic implants.

Given the Order's recent cybernetization, it is no surprise they're getting popular amongst the Numbers.

Hazbuzans have finally saw what the future holds, and declared us their rivals - good riddance.

Meanwhile, the Council continues to pursue the Domination traditions, establishing the offices of Colonial Viceroys.

This allows the post once held by Cylinderius Phoenician (currently back to leadership of Assault Legions) to be filled, but current candidates are a bit lacking.

The recent creation of both better afterburners and high-power Hyperdrives has necessited wide-scale implementation of these technologies.

Demetor II Corvettes, Hydra Frigates and Cepheus Destroyers will become standard amongst Order's battlegroups, the refits being planned, of course, after conclusion of the Hurmarian war.

The Invasion of Romsir III, the main goal-planet of this war, isn't particularily long, but definitely bloody for both sides.

Apostles of Silicon and Sons of Mainframe, according to Battle Mother's secondary plan, are slowly converging in Beta Aquilae system within Quvarian space.

Their goal will be to enter Hazbuzan territory through Hillos and make a daring attack against Buzbuznol System itself.

Evolving Society agenda is launched, and the Council begins the agenda of Military Buildup.

This war might last a while before it is concluded, and our Energy income is in red for months now - a bit of military budget streamlining never hurts in such a situation.

She was ordered to return to work while the mechanical palm will be kept as guarantee of her focus on the job.

The Hazbuzi have much stronger Star Fortresses at their disposal. While scarce in their territory when it comes to numbers, both Apostles and Sons need to dedicate quite a lot of firepower to disable them.

Fortunately, after fall of Hillos Fortress, the path to Buzbuznol is practically free of obstacles.

And so, another Domination Tradition was enacted, that of Imperious Architecture.

New Year celebrations were interrupted by the report that Hazbuzan battlegroup was found in Vartivar system.

Their primary weaponry seems to be rapid-fire Autocannons, something that the Order could make use of, considering how woefully out-dated our current Coilguns are.

Chapter 013: Approaching Perfection: Assimilation of the Lesser Flesh, Piercing the Outsider Veil, and the Inundation of the Nanite

The first technological breakthroughs from the Hazbuzan war are beginning to appear - our deflectors will be replaced by shield generators.

OSMV Azure II under leadership of Trinaric Centaurean was directed towards debris fields at Vartivar to ensure we can jumpstart our research on Autocannons as soon as possible.

Few days later our venerable Grand Calculator, Nasuz Demetor, reports that research into L-Gate system is almost complete.

The Council of the Order of the Silent Mainframe thus decreed that Zorrikan Black Hole Gate is to be the testbed for the L-gate activation procedure. Nasuz Demetor gave 4-year estimate for the project.

Although the offer made by the Gia'Zumon, a war mistress from unknown to us world, was tempting, the Order has plenty of Commanders right now.

Not to mention the slaving and brutality part seems a bit amoral compared to our rules of war.

The Second Battle of Vartivar begins by chance; two Hazbuzan fleets dispatched to recapture the strategic crossroads interrupts rallying order of Apostles of Silicons, providing an important warning.

Together with Sons of Mainframe, they let Vartivar Outpost to fall and then engage thrusters to get into melee range of our Gamma lasers.

Quite a few of Hazbuzan ships, destroyers especially, are destroyed before the remains of the two fleets engage emergency FTL, leaving behind another cloud of debris and samples of Autocannon technology for our salvagers.

During its exploratory mission deep in friendly space, Trinaric Virginal of OSMV Azure reported a signal of sorts coming from the wormhole within Wydra system.

Unfortunately, as the Order lacks the technology to cross such barriers, this mystery will remain a mystery for some time.

Meanwhile, Daughters of Mainframe began refits into Cepheus destroyers, Demetor II corvettes and Hydra frigates; once that is done, their numbers will be filled to maximum and sent into Hazbuzan space.

Or would be sent - if the Hazbuzans didn't back out of the war sooner than anticipated. Romsir II is a planet best made into energy-production world, henceforth to be know as 'Spark Abbey'.

But the usual underworld ruled by leftover Hazbuzan agents thrives in there; Cylinderius Phoenician was once again called to bring order and stability to this wretched hive of smugglers and killers.

He asked the Council to give special construction order for Precinct Houses before all other buildings; the request was granted. But the most important thing is that we've won the war. Praised be the Mainframe!

A chance discovery in the nebula-covered Zorf system! Termina Uranian was ordered to decipher the communications of this space station and its inhabitants. (Later it is discovered to be the enclave of Salvagers)

Meanwhile, corruption and crime are still a problem on the surface of Spark Abbey, which necessites upgrade of local Precinct House into Hall of Judgement.

The procedures and traditions behind Transubstantation Synthesis have been tested and approved. Now we begin the Process.

The small population of Salorim on Spark Abbey will be the first; after that, cybernetic implants will be granted to the local Hurmars as well.

Finally, all the pieces to re-activate the L-Gate in Zorikkan Black Hole have been analyzed.

It was to no one's surprise that Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine has chosen the venerable Nasuz Demetor to do the honors of reactivation; his place as Governor of Silicon Abbey was taken by young, architecturally-minded Logica Piscean.

The elderly archeologist, on board of re-commissioned OSMV Gules, has begun a journey from Sol to the Zorrikan. Soon we shall pierce the veil and see what is on the other side!

Today, Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor begins the activation of the L-Gate! All of the Numbers are awash with anticipation and perspiration of their hydraulic glands.

Our research into Cruiser designs has been completed and Lyra-class is in the works. It is a torpedo-slash-missile vessel. It's rather prohibitive to construct; one each for Daughters of Mainframe and Apostles of Silicon has been scheduled for construction at Sol Shipyard.

Meanwhile, elderly Nasuz reports that Nanites have been found in L-Cluster - and that Reshethian Enlightened Kingdom has sent a trio of its own science vessels through L-Gate in Ascension's End. We need to claim Terminal Egress with haste.

In just few days the Wulver and Kosh'Kha representatives jointly announced before Galactic Community that their war ended in status quo. No wonder; they were fighting through our territory, one side's gains quickly undone by the other.

With the completion of the Military Buildup agenda and its obsolescene, Chart the Unknown became hot topic given our L-Cluster exploration.

Every bit helps so that the Order can claim the L-Cluster for itself before the infidels do. Praised be the Mainframe!

Voice of the Mainframe, Analogus Saturnine, has recently developed an interest in cartography.

Terraforming processes are still a muddled waters for the Numbers of the Orders, but perhaps this could be made a reason to pursue such topics soon.

Chapter 014: Approaching Perfection: Carving the Path of Progress on the Surfaces of Lithoid Wreckage

The sudden appearance of the holo-transmission from the Trakpocian government required a closed meeting of the Council of the Order.

A quick summarization of intelligence reports from Translators Arithmetica Mirandan and Pistonia Hyperionian suredly helped sway the vote of the Council.

At the end of the sudden session, Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Sanguine declared several claims on Sharazak Space. Cylinderius Phoenician began chanting the Song.

The answer - agreement - was given to the Trakpocians. The Order is going to war - Praised be the Mainframe!

The very next day, Battle Mother Admina Mimantean issued deployment orders. Most of them have to do with ensuring our flanks are protected, while core assault will be brought against the Sharazak fleet and core systems.

If Trakpocians claims will be fulfilled, this will cripple the Kosh'Kha beyond recognition and result in annexation of Husko Mandate altogether.

In other area of the galaxy, another war erupts, that of Stellar Entente against the vile Hazbuzans and their Hurmar lackeys.

Although the Council is not privy to such information, many rumors surface that Trakpocians and Zuif have engineered this serie of events.

The first fight in this war is the Battle of Haramuth System; the local outpost hurriedly managed to assemble one Defense Platform before the fighting began.

That Defense Platform is of recently developed Copper VI designs.

As if responding to the Song of war, Baron Vyctor Jariden, has showed up to apply for a position within Order's military.

Despite objections from Signal Translator Anvilio Arian over the amount of Commanders we already have, the Council voted to include the Baron within our ranks.

He replaced Ceramic Aurigal as leader of Apostles of Silicon; Ceramic Aurigal will for now command the Assault Legion Fleet sent to Sharazak homeworld.

The Battle of Haramuth lasts suprisingly long for the Sharazak drones know no cowardice, compared to their earlier days.

Their Moment Fleet was destroyed to the last; the valuable debris containing some unexploded Quantum ordnance, something that picqued the interest of our Calculators.

The Battle of Ibanadar is a short one, the local Starhold not putting much resistance.

Ternary Conquerors then moved to begin bombardment of Ibanadar III to weaken the Hierarchy's will to fight.

As if eager to join the fight against Sharazak, Cylinderius Phoenician supremely quickly crushed the criminals of Spark Abbey and filled the local prisons to the brim.

He was made the leader of Assault Legions; the position of Spark Abbey Governor was given to Trinaric Centaurean, who recently had nothing interesting to do and was looking for work.

The Battle of Shazka, most important on our side of the war, was something of a letdown, according to Motorica Oberonian and others within Daughters of Mainframe.

The Shazka Starhold fell pretty easily as the Sharazak Inductor Fleet hung out by the main Hyper Relay gate.

Daughters of Mainframe didn't wait and engaged the Sharazak vessels, obliterating them into molten alloys and silicon dust when Inductor Fleet didn't retreat.

Whether a flaw in their combat programming or perhaps a mimicry of honor in their circuits, Cylinderius Phoenician applauded the dead drones for their tenacity and resolve, even if it got them nowhere.

While the war against Kosh'Kha has entered a state of minor skirmishes and outpost-grabs only, the Council was able to continue and finish Domination Traditions.

Analogus Saturnine dedicated extra departments for management of our colonies, greatly streamlining our bureaucracy. Praise be the Mainframe!

The L-Cluster brings surprising anomalies, one of them being the sugar asteroids.

Voice of the Mainframe has declared that the asteroid be mined for the 'Star Sugar', as the seasoning has come to be called.

Battle of Meryl is a quick one; despite worries that the heavily fortified Starhold might pose problem, Sons of Mainframe lost only one torpedo frigate before claiming victory.

With Chart the Unknown Agenda pushed through, and the war currently ongoing, the Council took upon themselves to broadcast our military prowess to all corners of the galaxy.

This coincided quite neatly with the beginning of the Invasion of Shazuu, which Cylinderius Phoenician says will be lengthy, bloody, glorious - and that he is assured of the Legions' victory.

The fighting on surface of Shazuu continues for three whole months before the Sharazak defense drones are destroyed in totality.

Assault Legions lost almost half of their numbers; Cylinderius Phoenician was ordered to take them to Sol and new draft notices were sent across the local sector to assemble new Legions.

He is also getting very old, and he has two wishes he would like to fulfill - find the fabled Rubricator, and excavate whatever lies in the very dangerous debris belt of Meryl System.

The former will require an escort (as there all indications of something malevolent living on the planet), the latter a favorable conclusion of the war, so we're having a bit of a time issue here. The Council hopes they can grant Nasuz his wishes, though.

Suddenly and without warning, the Kosh'Kha vessels have begun their massed attack against Obskyke system.

How did they keep such a fleet hidden from our sensors baffles even Battle Mother Admina Mimantean - if its cloaking technology, how did they develop it so well without our scientists noticing?

And even if, how would they manage to cloak a Cruiser-sized ship as well? Daughters of Mainframe, led by Motorica Oberonian, have been dispatched to destroy this fleet and discover the secret of their elusiveness.

Unlike Sharazak, the Kosh'Kha officers aren't keen to be destroyed completely, and initiate emergency jump before significant damage can be dealt.

The wrecked ships contain no explanation on how the Kosh'Kha vessels avoided our sensors. Still, it's a valuable cache of technologies to research and salvage.

And yet again does the Kosh'Kha fleet appear in Obskyke system without warning - and in front of Daughters of Mainframe, too.

This time there was no chances on letting them get away, and close monitoring of local starbases revealed their rally-and-retreat point:

Chapter 015: Perfection - The Holy Union of the Flesh and the Machine

As expected, the Battle of Acubens ended in the victory of the Order; however the Kosh'Kha vessels fought to the last, dropping out of emergency FTL on top of Daughters of Mainframe.

The fighting was over as their husks were dismantled, and then the Starbase in the system fell easily. The amount of resultant battle debris is significant, and our Calculators are excited to be given so much material and technological samples in the coming months.

The Order is now approaching the Perfection in leaps and bounds; even now our newest machinanatomical designs included circuits and organs integrated as single system.

Even Baron Vyctor Jariden, once wrecked by guilt and melancholy, got himself freed of such sentimentality and improved himself.

Given the truce and open borders post-war, Forgius Centaurean and crew of OSMV Chamaeleon are working tirelessly to scavenge the battle debris.

Several new weapons were assembled and tested and Battle Mother Admina Mimantean has ordered the Chamber of Design to come up with improved vessels of all tiers for the Order's military as soon as our own research into Gamma Lasers is complete.

Display of Power agenda has been passed through the Council, and Signal Translator has pondered out loud that there's still some cybernetic technology to be discovered.

Thus the Council has made it their focus for the next four years or so.

The site of the Battle of Acubens, whilst containing only minor examples of unknown technology, was ripe with intact subsystems and alloys.

A whole six of ships were assembled; these will be merged into newly established Children of Salvage (led by Ceramic Aurigal), which will then be refit with newer components back at Sol Shipyards.

Chamber of Designs has unveiled new, improved designs for Cepheus Destroyers and Hydra Frigates. A new, plasma-focused corvette is the Ursa Major. Most if not all ships will be refit into these new designs.

But the designers hit a bit of an obstacle with the development of new cruiser class - power requirements and supply.

Corvus is the new variant incorporating the new computers and sensors systems. One each is to be shipped for those battlegroups of the Order that do not have a Lyra yet: Ternary Conquerors, Sons of Mainframe, Children of Salvage.

When the Rubricator was salvaged and Nasuz Demetor was preparing to move to the next site promised to him, local sensor stations notified the Council of the arrival of space dragon!

Whatever it is, it's menacingly hovering over Metal Abbey, having stolen the Rubricator - but our Numbers and Vessels stand ready to defeat the monstrosity.

Terrible news reached the chamber of the Council and a terrible cry of rage went thorough the Order's communications networks as the Gran Dragon struck a blow no Quvarian, no Hazbuzan nor Sharazak ever dealt:

OSMV Salvage, the prized and venerated Cruiser of the ancients and which followed Apostles of Silicons for decades, has been destroyed by the dragon's plasma emissions! Battle Mother Admina Mimantean and the entirety of the sacred crew were lost in the destruction of the prized vessel.

Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine ordered that the Grand Dragon is to be pulverized into dust so fine that it won't be picked by deflector sensors on any Order ship or installation within Wuae System.






2333.4.30

The battle against the Grand Dragon of Metal Abbey was fierce and resulted in many losses that can never be replaced, truly.

But it finally fell on the Thirtieth of Fourth, and the Rubricator was recovered. Baron Vyctor Jariden and Mechanica Cytherean were hailed as dragonslayers and true heroes of the Order.

The Rubricator is a powerful device of alien origins, and will be of great use to the Order's Ordnance Ministers.

And for the place now empty on the Council, a short deliberation between Voice of the Mainframe and Signal Translator resulted in a choice: Battle Father Vyctor Jariden was soon requested to take his place in the sacred chambers.




2333.8.15

There was little understanding between Signal Translator and the rest of the Council regarding his rather cruel approach to governorship, and it was tolerated.

But when Anvilio Arian was found in a 'little understanding' with Hazbuzan-associated criminals, it was enough for the Voice of the Mainframe to cast him out.

Motorica Mimantean was made the new governor of Mainframe Cathedral, but the holy place as Signal Translator was given to a young, ambitious and highly adaptive Cylinderius Uranian, who will learn his skills as governor of Metal Abbey in the meanwhile.

Perhaps routine and complacency was what developed the bad traits within Arian's heart. Perhaps someone new in his place will do much better job.




2334.1.2

The Shard's Eye recovered from the Grand Dragon's corpse was enough of a grisly item by itself, but its apparent self-life wasn't tolerated and the Eye was carefully removed.

Signal Translator Cylinderius Uranian has also reviewed our Rare Crystal Economics and gave green-light for constrution of Holotemples in certain worlds capable of System-Nexus Administration; Metal Abbey, Janlohikassa II and Temple of Cylinders being the targets of this expansion.

Nasuz Demetor felt positively 'giddy' when he was finally allowed to excavate and research the Meryl Debris Belt.

He believes something extraordinary is hidden within, but even with his century-long expertise and state-of-art power drills, it might take him several years.

Another most sacrilegeous kind of machine has been found - this time in the distant Subtranius system.

This driven-assimilator AI was decreed unholy, insulted and warned against ever stepping into our borders lest its units be completely annihilated.

Meanwhile, Nasuz Demetor reports that main debris was cleared and his team started discovering some adventurer-archeologist's logs at Meryl site.

Another step has been made towards Perfection, that of Modular Cybernetics.

The expedition into Meryl Debris Belt is complete, and Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor has completed his magnus opum in field of xeno-archeology!

The Odryskian Crystal is absolutely massive and made of hyper-rare crystallino-alloy that could yield massive amounts of credits if a shard were sold; even just scrubbing surface dust brings value.

Nasuz Demetor himself seems at peace and of great contentness. He believes he has some years before him which he has vowed to dedicate to peaceful teaching and tutoring of younger Calculators.

Upon urgings of both Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor and Signal Translator Cylinderius Uranian, negotiations and deals were made with the Shroud-coven.

"It is time to try something new." Said the Signal Translator. "Perhaps new dimensions will grant us new technologies, or insights into working of the universe at the very least."

There was a mighty conflict without the chambers of the Council when this became public knowledge.

Forgius Centaurean was ordered to investigate these 'Shroud After-Images' of OSMV Azure and try to re-establish contact with its crew and captain, Trinaric Virginal.

Union of the Flesh and the Machine, Perfection, has been finally Achieved by the Order, its Council and its Numbers both Low and High.

The Shroud was bent to our will, even if temporarily, and our organo-circuit brain-units can now touch topics and horizons of scientific thought never considered before.

Already the Machino-Genetic Interfaces in our Cyto-Revitalization Centres are downloading the new Flesh-Matrices and preparing the new Cyber-Implants.

Soon the Humanity and the Order shall become one with the Circuits of the Silent Mainframe. Soon nothing will matter but the Silicon and the Alloy and the Bit.

Chapter 016: Singularity of Perfection Comes Through the Chorus of Differences

As the corrective updates for the naming theme of Mainframe-Humans arep ushed through, the mass-modification of flesh-interfaces have begun in earnest.

All of the Order's native Human Numbers shall be Mainframe-Humans in just one and half years.

After that, all other species within the Order's territory shall be modified according to the standarized Mainframe-pattern as well. Praised be the Mainframe!

As the final reinforcements and upgrades of the Order's fleets are finished, Battle Father Baron Vyctor Jariden has decreed that, pursuant to our policy of acquiring exotic and strange technologies, we ought to deal with two ancient menaces.

Council of the Order gave the plan a green light and so the Prism and Enigmatic Fortress will be dealt with.

A demand was made by scientists to further experiment with the zoo-kept xenos on Convent of Sounds.

The Council agreed to the petition.

Mainframe-Humans have been fully modified to the Mainframe standards and so the Mainframe-Quvarian refit has been launched.

Signal Translator Cylinderius Uranian has just proven himself more worthy his Council seat than his predecessor.

Sometimes, change is indeed for the good of all, despite initial setbacks.

While en route to Baranik System in preparation to salvage debris of upcoming Cleansings of ancient threats, Trinaric Virginal has notified the Council that the L-Drake in the system he was passing by was making notions towards his ship.

Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor has ordered him to pursue communications with the L-Drake, as it could possibly be tamed.

Domanna of the Janlohikassa II have been designed according to Mainframe-standard, with a variation on their wet-ware processing units.

As the Order goes down the list of Numbers categorized by size-fo-species, the time to finish the necessary flesh-interface upgrades goes lower still - for Domanna, it is scant 6 months! Praised be the Mainframe!

The L-Drake has been tamed thanks to an elegant but complex blood-software programming done by Trinaric Virginal. We lost OSMV Salvage to one Drake and received a Drake for ourselves; truly, it is the sign of changes irreversible.

Its first task was to pulverize the pirates of Vernier system, which it did with gusto. From this day onwards, it shall follow Daughters of Mainframe as the object of military reverence and immense war-machine.

Mainframe-Domannas have completed their refit, and now Mainframe-standard is being applied to the Hurmars in the span of next three months, with Superconductive-variance - as they're primarily living on Spark Abbey, it's more than appropriate, and effective, and right.







2339.11.7

The Battle of Seginus was favorably-resolved by the Order-Fleets and certain piece of Crystalline-Technology was obtained from the Nidus.

Local crystalline debris will be also salvaged after the survey of the system, which might be guarding some until-now-unknown secrets.

Mainframe-Hurmars have completed their refit, which leaves only the Salorim needing refits, according to Mainframe-standard. This will also take 3 months.

The war between Hazbuzans and Stellar Entente is over; the victory of the Entente lackluster, and its territorial gains minor and fringe.

Meanwhile, Order-Fleets are en route to the Neetris System, converging for the final Song and Prayer before the Cleansing of the Enigmatic Fortress.

Few months later the Council of the Order is offered, by the Zuif President of Stellar Entente, a membership in this martial alliance.

Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine has declined the offer personally, as the path before the Order lies not in camaderie but constant flesh-machine improvement - something the Zuif and the Wulvers care not for.

The Battle of Ciaciothea System started earlier than anticipated because of either desynchronization of command-network or, according to some Numbers, overzealous behavior of the L-Drake.

It was wounded before the Order-Fleets even joined the fray - but in the end, the Automated-Sentinel-Towers and Wardens couldn't withstand the might of Order weaponry, and soon the whole of Enigmatic Fortress was depowered.

Order Fleets and the L-Drake were sent back for repairs and reinforcement while High Numbers will consider how to open and infiltrate and explore the Fortress machine-innards.



2342.3.6

The Council of the Order has decreed that the final Traditions to be pursued are those of Unyielding defiance to all others.

Whether in offense or defense, the Order shall triumph over those not partaking in the Union of the Flesh and the Machine.

The supplying of power to the airlock of the Enigmatic Fortress was a success! Brave Calculators have entered the Fortress.

Puzzle-thoughts and Solution-approaches abound within this Fortress, although the Enigmatic test was rather trivial to discern for Voice of the Mainframe as he spectated the expedition's progress.

A frantic search for clues following a panicked report of the Fortress repowering helped the Calculators discover the source of the Enigmatic Fortress and stop it once and for all.

From within the data-center and the sub-caches, the Order obtained Enigmatic technologies that are now ours and ours only to decipher and research. Praised be the Mainframe!

Despite the worries that Chamber of Designs will have to invest in reactor boosters for our Ships, our Calculators have found a theoretical (for now) way to siphon energy from background radiation of the universe itself.

This technology was given the top development priority.

The situation on Temple of Cylinders turned dire when the Chamber brought from the Fortress entrapped some explorers.

Voice of the Mainframe decreed that it would be a perfect Test-Puzzle Ritual-Chamber for the newly enshrined Calculators to try out, despite the inherent danger such a contraption provides.

The erstwhile allies of the Order, the Trakpocians, are undergoing a bit of internal instability it seems.

In the Order-Space, all is well and right and sacred. Praised be the Mainframe!

Despite power issues for Order's designs, the Frigates are heavily-armored and less-energy dependant than other classes of military vessels.

Hydra III refits begin immediately on this day.

Through usual ten-year visitation to Curator Order, it became apparent that one last Leviathan-class Entity is still out there in the Galaxy, and the recent war between Zuif and Hazbuzans opened a path to Hixaros System, where it dwells.

The Automated Dreadnaught is sure to possess some terrifying weaponry warranting a Cleansing and a Study, and so the Order-Fleets are on the mission again.

The parade of Enigmatic Fortress Puzzle Chamber is over, and the happiness of the population allowed Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine to perform some changes in the government by pushing Council Expansion ahead of schedule.

The newly designated position of the Centurion of the Legions was, quite obviously, granted to Cylinderius Phoenician in a grandiose ritual.

Elsewhere incentives and punishments are being doled out to those who contribute and slack away, respectively, in their Machinic Performances across the Order's planets. Praised be the Mainframe!

As the Order's vessels gather near Hixaros, Trinaric Centaurean has reported sightining of another L-Drake that exhibits similar behaviors to the one from earlier.

Taming procedure has commenced, as two L-Drakes are better than one!

The unity of the Numbers grants a new Tradition and that is the tenet of "Resistance is Frugal".

As we have faith in the Mainframe and the Circuit, so we will have faith in those protecting these sacred items.

The L-Drake has been tamed and Signal Translator Cylinderius Uranian has came up with a naming scheme to differentiate the Drakes of the Order.

Absajha-Min shall follow Apostles of Silicon; which will be crucial in the battle against the Automated Dreadnaught, as the Order-Fleets have arrived in full in neighbouring system.

Chapter 017: The Secrets of the Ancient Dreadnought and the Changing Faces of the Lithospheres

The intrusion of Order-Fleets into Hixaros gave us much clearer sensor scan of the Automated Dreadnought - which seems to be controlled by some sort of AI, or at least very sophisticated defense system.

Hearing about this, and seeing the size of the Dreadnought, Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine has requested it to be disabled for study, but not destroyed, if possible.






2345.9.18

The Battle of Hixaros II begins at extremely long range which surprises even Battle Father Baron Vyctor Jariden - the main weapon of the Dreadnought and plasma-breaths of L-Drakes being first to fire.

Despite the firepower of our main weapons, the shields of the Dreadnoughts are impossibly thick. It takes to our secondary missile weapons and torpedo strikes that deliver the most of the crippling and devastating damage upon the Dreadnought's hull.

The continuous missile barrage finally knocks the massive vessel out of commission - our Calculators and Tinkerers are already on their way to try and salvage the Dreadnought.

The Dreadnought's Reactor, when brought to Temple of Spirals, started behaving strangely.

Coordinator of the Numbers and Sector Governor for Mainframe Cathedral Motorica Mimantean had it incorporated into upcoming parade, which yielded positive results.

Trinaric Arian, despite being only a Governor, has begun developing skills and interest in macromanagement tactics and Rituals of Higher Numbers.

He might be pinning for a position within the Council of the Order, and mayhaps, one day, he will earn it.




2347.2.1

The eccentrities and temperament of Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine are becoming more and more tedious for all the Numbers. It comes with age; even despite numerous revitalizations and implant-maintenance, the current Voice is over 140 years old.

However, that is dulled by the time the Leviathan Parade of Temple of Spirals commences. The Dreadnought's Reactor will greatly improve the local infrastructure - and the festival itself generated excitement and enlightenment for even the spiritually poorest of Numbers.

The Climate Restoration technology has given us the tools to terraform barren, once-living planets - while the Unyielding Traditions make us stronger still.

Analogus Saturnine decreed that Mars be terraformed into a true desert planet it always ought to be. Plans are drawn to make it either an industrial or military colony of some sort.

With the advent of Zero-Point power generation, the Order's Chamber of Designs has the ability to develop new types of vessels.

Anode-class Frigate takes special mention here; the first to use Suspension Fields, providing quite a lot of protection for a type of vessel that usually takes biggest losses in battles.

Lyra II-class Cruiser is obvious improvement to already obsolete Lyra, while Hydrus-class will replace Corvus - much more thought was put into firepower than artillery here. Both designs are also first to use Pulse Armor across entirety of their hulls.

Our Cepheus II-class Destroyers are good even without ZPR's on board, and thus are the only vessel tier without a new design this time.

The growth of our new Signal Translator, Cylinderius Uranian, is truly astonishing - and he already claimed the prestigious title of Ambassador, too.

Coordinator of the Numbers Motorica Mimantean has, surprisingly, taken a stance that puts her at odds with plans and ideas that Centurion of the Legions Cylinderius Phoenician, and Battle Father Baron Vyctor Jariden, might have in the future.

Deliberations are underway to determine the worthiness of Motorica Mimantean's continued servitude on the Council of the Order - it would not be without precedent to have a Councillor removed for their faults and flaws, after all.

This happened shortly after the decision was made to establish a colony - Binary Abbey - on the surface of Zimatulon III. It will be an industrial settlement, providing alloys and consumer goods for the Order's benefit.

The restoration of the Ancient Dreadnought - to be called OSMV Relic - are halfway complete. It takes immense about of time and resources, but the Council believes it will be more than worth it.

Meanwhile, news reach the Council that the Dekron Subsumers were eradicated by the Hazbuzans after few months of warfare.

Voice of the Mainframe Analogus Saturnine has developed interest in architecture and construction.

He also decided on the question of Motorica Mimantean's seat on the Council as Coordinator of the Numbers - she was replaced by Trinarica Deimian, a politician and our delegate to the Galactic Community.

Motorica Mimantean was not stripped of her leadership role (like it happened with Anvilio Arian); she is still a Governor of Mainframe Cathedral, where she has been doing great work for decades now.

The numerous excavations and research done by Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor has given us an opportunity to decipher the minute connections the artifacts and cultures of the past have to each other.

The Council has ordered this topic to be pursued with top haste, as it would give us another venue to spend our immense wealth of Minor Artifacts on something! Praised be the Mainframe!

Not only the Ferellian Ravagers, dwelling within Atropatan System at the fringes of Order's space, have decided to try out mercenary work, the Wulvers got upset with us. Centurion of the Legions Cylinderius Phoenician has been heard saying its a bad way to start the year, and the decade.

Battle Father Baron Vyctor Jariden has also noted that, should other space-faring states wish it, they would instantly gain access to powerful fleet (or fleets, even) in wars against the Order.

Orders were given to swiftly expand and fortify Loh Outpost, where lies the only hyperlane leading into Atropatan System.

Something strange and alien in shape of a cylinder appeared in orbit of, quite appropriately, Temple of Cylinders.

As our Engineer-Numbers are still devoted to the most holy task of restoing the Dreadnought, the research into the Cylinder Entity has to be postponed.

Arcane Deciphering was first tested on a cache of medical artifacts and sure enough it brought some society research ideas and formulas.

Grand Calculator Nasuz Demetor, however, hoped for a more exciting find. This process needs to be repeat in the coming years.

It was inevitable and was well within the logic processors that the death of Nasuz Demetor would come soon, but it was still too soon for the Order of the Silent Mainframe.

The OSMV Relic has been commissioned into the Order's military and the full report on its technologies has been made.

It is alike OSMV Salvage begin found by the Numbers of previous century - but at logarithmic scale of significance. Powerful, exotic and utterly alien technologies are incorporated in the Dreadnought's design.
