And another year passed just like the last. I have noticed I have been writing the name Feywreath wrong for a long while. It isn`t Faywreath but Feywreath. So I changed it here lol
Yearly Legationary Report for the County of Feywreath.
IN THE 47TH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, EMPEROR INBEW OF THE HOUSE OF HURAM,
GRANITE. Feywreath was founded. I Tesgenatha Izroshkofi, Legate of His Imperial Majesty, have been tasked with overseeing the settling of this new colony and give proper support and council to whoever the Feywreathians decide to rule over them as Lord. As of now, however, there is little talk of Lordship. The initial settlers are 7, including myself. Messrs. Ulek Lesec, Ujozom Wumolcescu and Cobsit Olourwawko, as well as Mmes. Last Uzustrubgano, Heg Ejatihurultisnastha and Matug Pocwut. The first order of business was to build a simple hall for shelter and to store food, as well as to start building barrels to properly store everything we need. We have brought with us two lions, two rhinoseros and two waterbuffalos, each a couple, as well as three sheep, three turkeys, three pigs and a cat. Feywreath Castle will be set on top of a steap cliff facing south to the valley below in the Depressed Lowland. Up North we have a small river. We are three days travel from the nearest settlement of our people, the Hamlet of Pertinenceplaited. Our closest human neighbours are under the jurisdiction of the vile and thieving Emperor Acsutdusha of the House of Hashestrok, over a day's travel from here. Closer still are many Goblin settlements that surround the countryside. For now we do not have any contact with them, but I am weary of not having any walls set up for our defense. I have talked to the settlers and they too seem worried at our current state. We plan on building walls as soon as possible around this high hill. I have taken upon myself the task of the village carpenter, making all the wooden furnature and utilities that Feywreath needs. Mrs. Last is digging a channel to the river and we intend to make an artificial well fed by said channel. I am building wooden mechanisms to control the floodgates that will keep the water under control.
SLATE. Mmes. Heg and Matug were attacked by an alligator and were seriously wounded. Mrs. Heg would have probably been killed if one of our lions didn't rescue her and dispatched the monster. This land is full of ferocious creatures, we have even spotted giant ants wandering about. The faster that we create the wall and have a Lord to organize the defenses, the better.
Legate Tesgenatha was killed by an alligator in the end of the month of Slate. I, Ulek Lesec, take his charge as temporary Imperial Legate. When the Emissary arrive I will speak to him of who will substitute Mr. Tesgenatha. Most of our folk are wounded, for a great band of alligators poured through the lands attacking everyone in its wake. My main job has been to gather the wounded and tend to them, although my situation is precarious. The only ones that are in any shape to help me are Mr. Cobsit, who's responsibility is to forage for food, and Mrs. Last, who is still working on our well.
HEMATITE. As determined by the Imperial Emissary, I will resume now officially the functions of Legate Tesgenatha. I have given him the report made by myself and my predecessor. From Hematite onward I will continue writing the report to be given next year this month.
MALACHITE. Five migrants have arrived. The elderly Mr. Ismu Omaramsod and his son Horun Hurcata, together with Horun's wife Budungamarop Ethridomongub, as well as Mmes. Konom Mushcarospocpuki and Rolsu Eshrelist. This brings our population up to 11 souls. I have welcomed them to our outpost and have assigned them functions. We will need all the hands we can get. After a while I sat with them and asked them of their history. Mr. Ismu is a man of venerable age, having been born 86 winters ago. He is of a warrior disposition and does not seem to care much for intellectual conversation. His son Horun shows more of an interest in that sort of thing and has more refined manners. Father and son seem very different from one another, from mannerisms, worldview and even eye color (Ismu has tawny colored eyes while Horun's are blue), but both seem to equally have an air of coldness to them that is hard to explain. Mr. Ismu went on to say that he used to be the Sergeant of Heapclonks before migrating here, confirming my first impression of him. There he met Legate Bonena Odoocon, Horun's mother. He did not talk much about her, it seems their relationship didn't go much further. Horun himself has also seen combat, having fought in the glorious assault on Infidelityedges, that devilish goblin fort having being pillaged by him and other soldiers. His wife Budungamarop is of noble blood, having been the heiress to the lordship of the hamlet of Latitudinalcelery. She gave up her inheritance to marry Mr. Horun and come to Feywreath. Mrs. Konom had a hard life, having been enslaved by the Goblins and having to resort to criminal activities to survive at times. She is not one to talk much, but the little she did say seemed dark. I did not press her further on the matter. She seems to be a friend of Mrs. Budungamarop, having come from the same hamlet. Mrs. Rolsu has previously been a Legate for the hamlet of Skillgallstone and has chosen to come to Feywreath to help in the colonization efforts.
I suggested to the settlers that Mr. Ismu be made Lord over Feywreath, mainly because of his military experience and the fact he has an Heir already present and living with us. Given how badly we need protection in these parts, nobody argued against it. And so I confirm with my Imperial Authority that in the 46th year of the reign of Inbew, in mid Malachite, the Feywreathians have chosen Ismu Omaramsod and his House for the Lordship of this Outpost. His first order of business was to prioritize the construction of the reservoir for our well and nominated Mrs. Rolsu as outpost Physician to tend to the wounded. He also ordered the burial of Legate Tesgenatha, who we haven't been able to bury all this time because of lack of manpower.
GALENA. As the well is going fast underway, Lord Ismu ordered the construction of a smithy and mandated the production of gauntlets. Legate Tesgenatha was finally buried, I took care of the matter myself.
LIMESTONE. The well was inaugurated. It is divided into three parts. A deep hole was dug in the ground on Feywreath Hill, until it got under ground level to the river. Then a tunnel was dug through all the way to the river. A floodgate was placed on the mouth of the river-side tunnel entrance, to control exactly when water can enter the tunnel. Another floodgate was placed on the midsection for safety. Finally a third floodgate was placed near the entrance to the well. Before the well's entrance's floodgate and the mid-tunnel floodgate we constructed two large reservoirs, each with floodgates attached to them so as to store a good amount of water in case we ever need to keep the river entrance closed. After the reservoir was filled to the brim, its floodgates were closed. With the tunnel itself full, we closed the river entrance. Lord Ismu wishes that it is only open when we actually need to replenish our water supply, preventing any strange creature to enter through the river tunnel. The Lord then ordered us to remove all access we can to the hill top, and build two great gates as the only entrances. All trees near the hill are to be chopped off and a road built around it to prevent new trees from growing anytime soon.
SANDSTONE. Feywreath Hill was dug around in a way that all paths up to it were removed, except the two specified by Lord Ismu. He knighted his son Horun and charged him with the defense of the settlement. Sir Horun chose Mr. Ujozom and Mr. Cobsit as his followers and with the copper we brought with us we had short swords forged for all three of them. Each were given a pair of gauntlets, greaves and wooden medium-sized shields. Lord Ismu presented his son additionally with a helm, a mail-coat, a breastplate and low boots. All made from copper. These aren't the best weapons and armor, but it was what we could do with the materials we have. Lord Ismu now wants to further dig around the cliff closer to the valley, to make it as hard and controlled as possible for anyone to get to Feywreath Hill. He showed me a plan he made of a series of gate entrances going all the way down towards the valley. There he wishes to make a town, overlooked by a future Feywreath Castle on top of the hill. "Feywreath Hill will be our safe haven in case of an attack. When that happens, we evacuate all subjects to the castle with the livestock. We will keep a large storage room here and keep enough food to last us out a siege if needed", Lord Ismu said. He then ordered that we start building the wall around said hill. Many new migrants have arrived, including a couple of Necromancers, Mr. Uwsho Ozithrezbomo and Mrs. Wuvak Elsinomuthan and a daughter of the Emperor himself, Her Imperial Highness Alos Zomkor and her husband Mr. Hakudng Estxuriset. Besides them we have Mr. Woloc Golapagebekat and his wife Mrs. Ucsur Osmkawewthric, as well as Mrs. Nocpu Apsutmanomug. Lord Ismu greeted the Necromancers with certain suspician. The older Necromancer, Mr. Uwsho, was born before the Triarchy, in the time in which the Empire was under only one Emperor. His wife was much younger than him, but still middle-aged for our standards, yet neither looked even a bit aged except for their snow white hair. They unsettle me. Sir Horun vouched for their permenance among us, arguing that their knowledge could prove very useful for us in the long run. Lord Ismu shrugged and left it up to him. I overheard the good knight speaking to them about plans of making a wizard's towar in the eastern side of Feywreath Hill for them to stay, after the necessary defenses were sorted out. As of now none of us have any place of our own. We sleep on the hospital floor or on the grass. Lord Ismu lives in the same manner, but I have noticed that this is taking a toll on him. He is tough, but he is still an old man. While building the wall we are also at the same time building the meadhall. That is where everyone will sleep, each with his own bed, while we don't move to the valley below. There we will also have some much needed entertainment, with tables and chairs for us to drink and relax. Mrs. Mutag apparently will never recover from her injuries and is now incapable of walking or grasping anything. She manages to walk with the help of crutches, but she is basically incapable of doing any work. Lord Ismu does not force her to do anything and has stipulated a stippend to keep her comfortable. She is being taken care of by the community for the sacrifice she made in the foundation of this outpost.
OPAL. The kitchen is already set on the back of the meadhall, with the still always busy making different brews. A bit of civilization after almost a year of toil and animalistic conditions is not something to shrug off! The construction effort on the wall is focusing mostly on the eastern section. Because of the double effort of making the Hall and the wall, it is advancing slowly.
OBSIDIAN. The meadhall is finished! Now we are making a general temple so that our people may pray, the eastern walls and a tomb for Lord Ismu, since he has none yet.
On the last days of Obsidian, Mrs. Matug Pocwut died of dehydration. She refused to drink water... By the year's end, we have gained a total of 19 migrants this year. 2 of them died. My predecessor, Legate Tesgenatha Izroshkofi, by alligator attack, and my friend Mrs. Matug Pocwut, by voluntary dehydration. May they rest in peace. This brings the total of our population this year to 17 souls. The report for next Hematite continues in the next year,
IN THE 48TH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, EMPEROR INBEW OF THE HOUSE OF HURAM,
GRANITE. We have finished making a drainpipe from the well reservoir to the valley. Lord Ismu wanted it made so we could easily dry the well if we ever wanted to make necessary changes to the system safely. He also said that it could be put to other uses, with a dark grin. I preferred not to ask which, but I trust his prudential judgement on the matter. We call the exit of this drainage tunnel the "gargoyle" and it overlooks the valley.
SLATE. Mrs. Last got stuck on a tree. We had to cut it down to free her. Luckily nobody got injured. Lord Ismu dug a basement for the entire meadhall complex. He ordered that all our food be stored there. It is a huge space and it is clear the lord wishes to make sure that they would be able to withstand a long siege. A couple of migrants have arrived. Mr. Itsub Mumuddazomo, a cousin of our Mrs. Konom, and his wife Mrs. Iwak Ngdanrathreh. Mrs. Iwak was placed on plant gathering duties with Mr. Cobsit, while Mr. Itsub is being trained as a second brewer to help our chief brewer, Mr. Woloc.
FELSITE. The eastern section of the wall is finished. All trees surrounding the hill were cut down.
HEMATITE. Lord Ismu's tomb is nearly complete. Because of this, we have begun to build the main castle-complex, with the Lord's chambers, the Lord's throne room and the Lord's study. Besides this, Sir Horun as Heir to the Lordship will also have his own chambers, dining room and studies. We haven't started this work till now because Lord Ismu insisted on focusing on providing for his subjects and preparing the defenses. But everyone could see that the living conditions were wearing him down, due to his old age. Through my insistence he ordered work to comence in providing proper quarters for himself and his House. The Emissary arrived this month and has offered Lord Ismu the title of Baron for his hard work. Emperor Inbew is seemingly impressed with how well he is conducting things in the frontier and wants to honor him. The Lord accepted the title happily.
MALACHITE. The Baron's throne room and tomb are completed. 8 migrants have arrived. Mr. Azwewtugis Xugoongothin (a nephew of Mr. Istsub and Mrs. Iwak) and his wife Mrs. Juthimuk Xacegem (who is Mrs. Wuvak's niece); Mr. Tep Epetuho (Mrs. Ucsur's cousin) and his wife Mrs. Gencoru Atorpujamuogitkel (who is Mrs. Konom's older sister!); the elderly 92-year old Mr. Oxutishmana Copteki; and finally Mmes. Iwathro Ansplegablaca, Febipupibid Vopolgosp and Thro Atluludagwa. In the end of Malachite, Innumdonen Nilumemepado, Uwsho and Wuvak's son, was born. He is the first child to be born in our settlement. I was astonished by it, for I did not know Necromancers could have children.
GALENA. We have finished all the living facilities for the Baron and his family. Lord Ismu had the drainpipe tunnel's floodgate scheme refined so that we would not have to dry the well to pass through the drainpipe. Now there is a separate floodgate to keep the well water outside the drainpipe entrance. While making the change our people discovered goethite in the tunnels. Lord Ismu's reaction to it would not have been better if it was gold. He laughed with joy, holding the little stone and said "Iron! There is iron under this hill. With this, we can create a military worthy of the Empire." He ordered immediately an appraisal of the surrounding hill to find more of the ore. He will begin a mining operation from there.
SANDSTONE. Given our new found source of weapons and armor, Sir Horun decided to expand his band of warriors and enlisted Mr. Azwewtugis and Mr. Tep. Both are men in their 50s, but they are actually the youngest men in this settlement if you take out Mr. Ojozom and Mr. Cobsit (who are already enlisted) or master Innumdonen, who is just a child. Everyone will be fitted with iron armor and weapons.
A great number of immigrants have innundated Feywreath! It seems Lord Ismu's fame has been circulating far and wide as new faces emerge from the thick forest up our fortress hill. What I find most astonishing though is that it seems that Lord Ismu's tolerance for the wizards have attracted more members of their order into our home. Lord Ismu ordered a yak bull and a donkey to be killed in honor of the newcomers. First, we ascertained who was coming to our village and what their story was. He first focused on the Necromancers. The new arriving Necromancers were two men, Mr. Wartha Budabolimil and Mr. Oxuthba Shororumethorpur. Of the two, the latter was the master of our resident Necromancer Mr. Uwsho. Lord Ismu got all four Necromancers together in his throne room and told them to tell him everything about the order. Who they were, how many, where they were located. They said they come from the Order of Dideobsa. Their founder is a woman named Cust Zabanened. She began the order in the 11th year of the reign of Emperor Huram, though she herself has been a Necromancer since the 22nd year of the reign of his predecessor Emperor Ihdetre, first of the Triarchs of our jurisdiction. She learned Necromancy by reading from a slate slab containing the secrets of life and death. This slab's name is Ngibedlemsostiggul, and it was created by the god of Death Quest Domeguxuluceslo. So although the order itself was founded 79 years ago, her Necromantic lineage began 102 years ago. Mrs. Cust was the first chieftess of the Order. It seems that because the half-angel Rouku Bubaam stole Ngibedlemsostiggul and took it to Jadedburlesqued, Chieftess Cust started a war with the Caliph of the half-angels, Lord Aku Bakoum. They conquored two settlements from the half-angels, so it wasn't complete foolishness. But in the 3rd of Inbew, the half-angels managed to turn the tide and sacked the tower of Rock-nutencodes, where their seat of power was. Chieftess Cust was taken in chains and made prisoner. She fled again many years later, but by then the Order was already in other hands and she had to move to another town, in which it is said to this day she schemes to grab hold of power once more. In the ensuing chaos of the sacking of the tower, Uthathradi Memoguselesmitho, a young member of the order, became its chieftess the very next year. This position she managed to hold on to for only a year, until again the half-angels attacked and she was taken prisoner. She is still their prisoner to this day, working as a scholar for them. A much senior member of the order, Odapi Loshsiguk, then became Chieftess. And again the fighting continued, with Odapi being taken prisoner and only escaping decades later, but suffering the same fate as Cust. The next chieftain was Urdinut Erthabbagwakju, Odapi's master. He managed to hold onto power for only another year before being ousted by the Caliph. He also fled from prison years later. The next to assume power was Chieftain Facos Rathrehwewom, who was under the same master as Urdinut (master Igonadapin Opgusieb), and it was this same master Igonadapin Opgusieb who later the next year, on the 8th of Inbew, became Chieftain, after Facos was captured by Aku. Facos also escaped from prison. From then on, Chieftain Igonadapin has reigned over the Order, him being a disciple of Cust Zabanened. Although the tower has been sacked many times (in fact it has been sacked as early as last year, from what they report), the Caliph has not been able to capture the elusive Chieftain Igonadapin. I leave in this writing a copy of their lineage, as told by them. Lord Ismu decided to keep it in case more of their order appear, so that he may know who they are. This is the transcript:
"The Necromantic Order of Dideobsa was founded by Cust Zabanened, who learned it from the slate slab of Ngibedlemsostiggul, created by the god of Death Quest Domeguxuluceslo. The order branches out into two distinct Houses, from Cust's two apprentices, the House of Odukocparuhob, the older lineage, and the House of Opgusieb, the younger lineage. The younger lineage is the ruling House, being Igonadapin Opgusieb the Chieftain of Dideobsa.
Quest Domeguxuluceslo created Ngibedlemsostiggul.
From Ngibedlemsostiggul, Cust Zabanened became the first.
Cust had Ipabel Odukocparuhob and Igonadapin Opgusieb.
Ipabel ODUKOCPARUHOB had Manget Ubturoxenga.
Manget had Wuvak Elsinomuthan.
Wuvak had Quem Ungotidire, Ufol Vidilrafebbak and Othrupim Zabatokibonema.
Quem had Ujit Uquenthequosa.
Ujit had Hin Uxemarinocgoc, creator of the race known as the Eyes of Uxemarinocgoc.
Ufol had Vis Zospabreturo.
Vis had Ikasm Vedolumig.
Othrupim had Ran Oquiaspibe.
From these, Quem died on the 33rd of Inbew, struck down by a golem; Hin died on the 35th of Inbew, struck by a dragon; and Ikasm died on the 47th of Inbew, fighting three dark gnomes in the siege of Immanentsally. While killing two of them, he was slain by the last. With this, the House of Odukocparuhob has 8 living souls in total.
Igonadapin OPGUSIEB had Urdinut Erthabbagwakju and Facos Rathrehwewom.
Urdinut had Odapi Loshsiguk.
Odapi had Ohwothng Acstubtungir.
Ohwothng had Sinathistram Iddajithram.
Sinathistram had Bihom Kemithcucitlud.
Bihom had Uthathradi Memoguselesmitho.
Uthathradi had Eshmuthetuth Ospifengil.
Eshmuthetuth had Keplem Cestahebor.
Keplem had Besp Uthesatwena.
Facos had Ikudo Sushagulbikate.
Ikudo had Apista Acaconmomoojorbesta and Oxuthba Shororumethorpur.
Apista had Ogor Kilusmlerostreg, Eshe Apsuucenodolerab and Ipumash Urishimel.
Eshe had Iwarolera Gabpathadoecsu.
Iwarolera had Jelthralithi Ohudpasoncist.
Jelthralithi had Wartha Budabolimil and Dolmo Ufodasmal.
Wartha had Ipbin Ufodawumol and Sesmi Picpukidunel.
Ipbin had Nacnam Ujithaegetob.
Nacnam had Jastiga Carimielothen.
Oxuthba had Uwsho Ozithrezbomo.
Uwsho had Oquov Ceszizemeko.
From these, Bihom died on the 8th of Inbew, struck down by a bronze colossus; Eshmuthetuth died a year later, killed by a giant mosquito while hunting giant beasts; and Ipbin died on the 22nd of Inbew, slain by a dragon. In total, the House of Opgusieb has 26 living souls.
The entire Order of Dideobsa has in total 34 living souls."
Of these, Oxuthba is Uwsho's master and part of the ruling House of Opgusieb. Wartha is also from this House, but farther down the line from Cust. Mrs. Wuvak is of the House of Odukocparuhob and much senior up the line, having as master
Manget, who's master is Ipabel Cust's apprentice. Of these it seems clear that Mr. Oxuthba holds precedence, and so we are treating him as such. Lord Ismu made him responsible for the behavior of the other Necromancers of the order while in Feywreath.
Talking more with them, we have found that many of them faught in the siege of Infidelityedges, which increased manyfold the goodwill of the Feywreathians towards them. Most from their order were enslaved by the half-angels. Although many managed to escape, some are still in bondage, others are imprisoned elsewhere. Most of them seem to be free, though. Inquiring over the slab that founded the order, it seems it was stolen from the half-angels by a dark gnome named Zug Nimematistekzagoth, and to this day she has it tucked away in the hillocks of Penancemenacled. All of the Necromancers here seem to speak of the subject with anger. They feel cheated on and it seems like they will not forget this slight until they recover what was once theirs.
Besides the Necromancers, we have also received as migrants Mr. Ucstrib Vicditow (Mr. Tep's uncle) and his wife Tot Oxurfanid; Mrs. Tot's younger brother Wenilluh Thdomceste (both being cousins of the Necromancer Mr. Wartha); as well as Mmes. Ditkit Zabiiwol and Hibtu Lumoljonmuthi. Mrs. Ucsur (Chief Brewer Mr. Woloc's wife) is a niece of Mrs. Tot and a cousin of Mr. Tep! It seems many of our migrants are sending letters home with the merchants and Emissary. Their kinsmen
are all coming to the barony.
OPAL. Mr. Oxutishmana has forged all of the iron armor Sir Horun and his followers will require. His work is ver impressive, most are masterpieces!
OBSIDIAN. This year, we had 17 new migrants to the barony, one birth (our first, master Innumdonen Nilumemepado) and no deaths. With thus a total of 35 souls and counting. The report for next Hematite continues in the next year,
IN THE 49TH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, EMPEROR INBEW OF THE HOUSE OF HURAM,
GRANITE. 18 new migrants have arrived! Lord Ismu didn't even bother to interview all of them. He just accepted them all like that! When I told him that we should check up these people and know where they come from, he just shrugged and said "We'll get the gist of it over time." He also seems pleased that the extra hands will help us finish the walls quicker. And from there, the valley below will be safe to settle.
SLATE. A new baby girl was born to Mrs. Juthimuk and Mr. Azwewtugis. Her name is Ipa Quablastriluleth. That would be the third child in the barony so far (the second one was not born here, but came as a migrant. His name is master Sinast Ojoltud, son of Mr. Lura Warlupestamsanth and Mrs. Ot Epucshsingenpa). Farmers among our people asked Lord Ismu to give them a guildhall. He agreed and decided to make that the first building in the valley.
FELSITE. A new baby girl was born to Mrs. Ucsur and her husband Mr. Woloc, our Chief Brewer. Her name is Nem Ocoosmka.
HEMATITE. The Imperial Emissary has visited us once more. She was impressed both with my report and with what she saw in our barony and has declared that in the Capital we are spoken of in good favor. "A stronghold in the middle of Goblinhome! A spear to thrust at a moment's notice at the House of Hashestrok if ever Acsutdusha grows too bold!" They have been incentivizing people to move to our lands and it seems to have been working so far. He finally declared that he had been given the authority to grant Lord Ismu the honors of Count. He accepted the title, of course. It is rather symbolic that our lands have been elevated to a country right now when we finally finished the Walls on Feywreath Hill! Sir Horun bought three books from the merchants this year, one of them being what seems like a wizard's grimoire. Much meat, drink and other foodstuff was bought, as well as many toys for the children.
MALACHITE. Another wave of migrants has arrived.
LIMESTONE. The valley's well has been innaugurated. It is fed by the same source as the castle's well. The water goes through a drainage tunnel that can be accessed through a hole dug near the well and that is separated from the water by two floodgates (one at the entrance to the hole, which we call the Dry Entrance, and another that accesses the well's mouth, which we call the Wet Entrance.) The tunnel then goes down the hill underground and comes out of it south, overlooking the valley. A wooden and roofed aqueduct protrudes from this drainage hole and ends in an opening downwards. Before the opening, there are two floodgates. One directly before the hole, making it possible to stop the water from going down; and another right beside it, making it possible to let the water fall downhill outside of the system, if needed. Going down the opening, the water goes through a deep tunnel with a floodgate at the entrance. After that, to both sides, there are carved two large reservoirs to store water, with four floodgates at each side. Going still on, you get to the well's mouth, which also has a floodgate. Beside the floodgate, before reaching the well, there's a drainage tunnel blocked by another floodgate. It leads to the mine, where we are digging for ores. The idea is that if ever needed, we can remove the water through those tunnels and spread the water thin so it may evaporate by itself. This tunnel is also accessed from the mine's entrance, bypassing the well completely. So that we do not have to drain the well to actually mine. Three guilds were formed in Feywreath, one of farmers, another of craftsmen and a third of woodworkers. Their guildhalls will be the first three buildings in the valley. Count Ismu had the meadhall expanded so that everyone from the county could comfortably fit inside it. "This hall will be the temporary dormitory of the entire village in case of a siege, it needs to be spacious enough for that", he said. It seems the Count is always thinking of invasions and sieges. He is always planning on ways to better protect his people. After the guilds are satisfied with their guildhalls, Count Ismu wishes to build barracks where Sir Horun and his men may dedicate their days training. He will also have a wizard's tower built to accomodate the Order of Dideobsa. From the blueprint he showed me, the tower will have at its lowest area a library that will be open to the public and managed by the wizards. Right over that, they'll have their laboratory where they will be free to study magic as they see fit, as long as they do not put the Feywreathians in danger. Over that floor will be their individual rooms and on the top floor the Chief Wizard's quarters. We currently have a good number of hunters that have been helping supplement the Feywreathian diet with much needed meat. We currently survive mainly by this effort and by the diligent work of our Chief Herbalist Mr. Cobsit and his team, which are responsible for foraging. Now that we have a farmer's guild and have the castle secured, it seems natural that we will soon begin developing the land for agriculture. Other facilities for the offices necessary to maintain Count Ismu's estates are also in demand, but these the good Count says can wait.
SANDSTONE. New migrants have arrived. Among them, to the general glee of all of Feywreath, Count Ismu's fourth son, Sir Secrolthur Sisharturvalcorusmal! Sir Horun is Count Ismu's second son. His eldest son lives elsewhere and for that reason is not being contemplated for the inheritance of the county. The Count promptly made Sir Secrolthur a knight and charged him with assembling a band of men and helping Horun with the defense of the county. The safety of the succession now strengthened, the Feywreathians feel more at peace. The Count also ordered iron armor and weapons to be made.
MOONSTONE. As our population is now on 74 souls, and given that the barracks are well over way, Count Ismu ordered that a census be made of all able-body men, divided into age groups, so as to prepare for the creation of the comital host. Excluded from the roster are the children, the elderly (over 60 years old), the wizards and myself. I accompanied the sons of Ismu as they took to this task. Here is the full roster:
"Roster of Able-Body Men of Feywreath.
Ethngostra Ushonulxuthu, 20, Single.
Bas Spratupusetstur, 21, Single.
Igenopo Slimenihomsa, 21, Married.
Lura Warlupestamsanth, 24, Married.
Enpatal Sathadoowbamatuk, 27, Single.
Adul Otholodetokurimbordeve, 28, Single.
Ojozom Wumolcescu, 32, Single.
Bezi Ladtemtodural, 35, Married.
Cobsit Olourwawko, 35, Single.
Felathrek Beheomsin, 41, Married.
Himel Gopugespudacarte, 49, Married.
Istsub Mumuddazomo, 54, Married.
Udmiz Repaawkixi, 56, Single.
Azwewtugis Xugoongothin, 58, Married."
When the Count saw the roster he frowned slightly. "Including my two sons, we only have 16 men available for service in a population of 74", he said before shrugging. "We'll work with what we have.".
Of the squires of Sir Horun, Mr. Tep was relieved from duty because he passed the age of 60. In his place, Mr. Ethngostra was recruited. The current followers of sir Horun are thus Messrs Azwewtugis, Cobsit, Ojozom and Ethngostra. For Sir Secrolthur, we recruited Messrs Bas, Igenopo, Lura and Adul. Besides these personal squires for the House of Ismu, the Count also made Mr. Enpatal the Sergeant of Feywreath and responsible for the recruiting of the other five able-body men into the comitatus. The forges are up day and night preparing the armor and weapons that these men will take to war. Count Ismu wants to begin training them as soon as the barracks are ready. These are being built right in the mouth of the upper Southern Gate and goes all the way up to the Northern wall.
On further news, we found out we actually have a centenarian among us, Mr. Aqui Abehrocapashim. He is 106 years old and his wife, also a resident, is 92!
Talking to these people, it seems many are refugees. It explains why so many of them are women or elderly. Emperor Inbew seems to be in all out war with the dark gnomes and so far it doesn't seem to be going in our favor. This just made Count Ismu even more resolute in preparing and equipping his soldiers. After they are all battle-ready, he told me he plans on sending them to help in the war effort. Given the copious amount of food we haev stored, as well as our fairly good defense structures, the Count does not feel threatened by the perspective of sending all his men to battle. In case of an emergency, the older men of the village can grab arms to defend it.
OPAL. The barracks were innaugurated and the men have begun combat drills. The barracks is composed of seven rooms in total. One room is to be the training room. Three of them are for the Sergeant's accommodations. Another one is to keep their equipment, another the private military chapel and the last one is space for further expansion. Count Ismu ordered the first residential house to be built in the valley. It will be the home of his son Sir Secrolthur.
OBSIDIAN. The extra space in the barracks was repurposed to serve as the base of operations for our captain of the guard. We will presently only have one person responsible for justice, without any helpers. He will be one of the elderly men of the village. Count Ismu will still choose who. He is currently just waiting for the proper equipment given to the guardsman to be made.
This year, we had 37 new migrants to the county, two births and no deaths. With thus a total of 74 souls and counting. The report for next Hematite continues in the next year,
IN THE 50TH YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, EMPEROR INBEW OF THE HOUSE OF HURAM,
GRANITE. Mr. Tep, the retired squire of Sir Huron, was chosen to be the captain of the guard, in honor of his previous service to the House of Ismu. He was given the standard iron armor of Feywreath, but instead of an actual sword he has been given a wooden sword, so that he may punish criminals without striking a lethal blow.
