Every year I have this hunger, hunger for blood, steel and oil :P

The stuff that has changed compared to the previous game: Research was fleshed out, Combat uses 1d8 for rolls, you can set up Treaties (with bonuses to choose from!), set up Military Doctrines to further tweak your strategy, but more importantly, Max Army Limit is now calculated differently (factories and industry/biology techs = more armies), plus a ton of minor things. SO READ THE RULES!

Sure it's just each yeah and not hex-monthly?

Name: Great Eternal Treedom
Leader's Name: The Great Tree
Government Type: DICTATORSHIP
Starting Tech: Diesel Engine
Traits (2+0+0+1+2):  [Dictatorship][Normal][Average][Isolationist][Military Tradition]
Capital Province #: 12
Other Provinces: 10, 11, 13, 14
National Color: Blue
History: The Islands have long held to a form of tree worship headed by the high shaman, fighting against each other in service to it's desire for blood to feed it. As times have modernized however, explorers from outside have been killed, captured, or 'nativized' leading to rather fast economic development. With the introduction of the diesel engine, they've finally come together to expand beyond their borders and wage Nature's War against their foes.
Major Decisions are made through the spiritual leaders undergoing spirit quests, served by a number of young men and women. Though the leaders of the four tribes also lead the process, the Great Tree Shaman's word is the ultimate law.

Name: The Kingdom of Here
Leader's Name: Queen Alicia Heart
Government Type: Monarchy
Starting Tech: Explosive Shells
Traits (0 points: 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 1 + 1 - 2): [Monarchy][Large][Industrialized][Industrial Power][Expansionist][Traditional][Military Traditions]
Capital Province #: #27
Other Provinces: #25, #26, #28, #29, #30, #39
Starting Railroads (from Industrialized trait): #26, #27, #30
National Color: #FF0000
Starting Doctrines: Mass Conscription, Total War
History: Only thirty years ago, the land of Angland was a pseudo-theocracy, with power split evenly between Queen and Church. This changed when high church officials decreed that the Queen's favorite food of raven pot pie was religiously unclean, due to a prohibition on eating black-feathered poultry. Although the Queen claimed that the ravens she ate in her pies were a special red-feathered breed, she never let anyone inspect the palace's secret raven-breeding aviary to verify this.

However, one wise priest realized that every non-black, non-raven object they observed counted as evidence that all of the Queen's ravens must be black - and since there were a huge number of non-black, non-raven objects, the evidence was overwhelming. The Greatest of the Great Priests issued a declaration that the Queen must give up her raven-eating habit lest the Great Gods punish the nation.

Desperate, Queen Alicia decided her only option was to start promoting a secular philosophy which was growing more common as the world industrialized. She decreed that, for the good of the country, Angland had to embrace progress and abandon all belief in non-worldly things. Although at first only popular among intellectuals, the common populace soon picked up the philosophy as well, tired of long centuries of burdensome religious prohibitions and taxes, and enthusiastic about the improvements to quality of life the new factories brought.

When the council of Great Priests denounced the Queen as a heretic who was destroying the nation, she readily agreed to this charge. Angland was no more - now there was only the Kingdom of Here, standing in eternal opposition to The(r)o-ocratists and all other allies of There. After a bloody series of mass beheadings, the transition was complete, and the Throne of Hearts was the only remaining power in the land.

However, the Queen wasn't done. She declared war on literally every other nation in the world, determined to spread her Here-sy and conquer all of There. Given Her/Here's industrial power, this might not be quite as mad as it seems, although the Heretic aversion to all research that smacks of the theoretical and unpractical is a burden on their technological progress.

Leader's Name: Matriarch Galiou Etha
Government Type: Democracy *Progressive
Starting Tech: Radio
Traits: [Democracy][Tiny][Backwards][Enlightened][Industrial Power][Isolationist][Mercantile][Secret Project]

Deep in the southern mountains, the Etha sisters set to work creating just that, with their own two hands building a manor and observatory on the peak of Mount Jirro. In time, other catgirls would trace their footsteps, in the outskirts of civilization, to build a mighty house from which the Children of Catte may watch the stars and intuit the wisdom therein. Here there are no more masters, only sisters determined to build a glorious future.

Willing to form Army Limit or Research Points treaties with any nations which aren't expansionist anti-intellectual maniacs. Maybe those too if you pay me.

Note that treaties are not to be interpreted as military alliances, the House of Etha intends to remain neutral in case of any hostilities.

Also willing. Despite our warlike tendencies, we are more interested in advanced research. So long as the treaty holds, we won't attack you. *That and we're nearly on the other side of the map.*

Others all have Explosive Shells.. Barbarians. :)
Not that I don't want em too. But Diesel.

Kashyyk, The Kingdom of Here extends an offer of a +1 Province Improvement/turn treaty with you. Obviously, the Kingdom of Here would still formally be at war with the Republic of Reme, but it would be a cold war. I'll also throw in the following defense guarantee: if the Kingdom of Here ever invades the Republic of Reme, the Kingdom of Here will immediately declare war on itself.

Counterpoint: Kashyyk, how about an Army Limit treaty? That'll help you defend against the godless Heretics, with a whole extra 2 armies at game start.

In fact, you'll need it to stand on even ground, since the Heretics have two more factories than you...

Note: Decided to change my build, choosing Industrialized instead of Modern so I could get Military Traditions. If it's too late to do this, let me know and I'll revert it back.

I don't think an army limit treaty wouldn't be very helpful compared to a province improvement treaty. If I've calculated correctly, The Republic of Reme's starting Army Limit would be 9 (Base of 2 + 2 from capital with Republic + 2 factories + 3 from Mass Conscription), but the Republic only starts with 5 armies anyways. By the time you built up to the limit, you could've just built two extra factories using the extra province improvements, effectively getting a +2 army cap plus other improvements going forwards.

An army cap treaty would only be better in situations where you were at max armies and had already built factories in every province you have, which probably won't be for some time. If that ever happens, we could see about switching our treaty.

Name: The Free Unified People's Democratic Republic
Leader's Name: Mr. President
Government Type: Dictatorship
Starting Tech: Explosive Shells
Traits (0): [Dictatorship (2)][Huge (3)][Backwards (-1)][Traditional (-1)][Expansionist (1)][Secret Project (1)]
Capital Province #: 22
Other Provinces: 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24
National Color: #707070
History: After a lengthy series of bloody civil wars and ethnic purgings, the troubled land to the north-east has been finally solidified into a cohesive union of like-minded peoples under the caring guidance of Mr. President.  The land was renamed to the Free Unified People's Democratic Republic, and all were happy knowing the Good Guys won and all is well.  The FUPDR is eager to make friendships and alliances with all like-minded neighbors and definitely, totally won't impinge upon their borders to cover up any internal unrest.

Anyone interested in treaties?

Mr. President, The Kingdom of Here also extends an offer of a provincial improvement treaty to you, under the same terms as with Kashyyk. I believe our two nations have much in common; just look at all the wonderful liberties citizens of Here have:

Freedom of the Press: The Queen believes there should be no restrictions on her usage of The Press against anyone who criticizes her.

Freedom of Religion: The Kingdom of Here is entirely free of any religion.

Freedom of Assembly: Citizens of Here are free to work on the royal assembly lines as long as they wish without breaks.

The Right To A Speedy Trial: Trials in the Kingdom of Here rarely last longer than five minutes or so.

Our independent fact-checkers believe the red queen to be "just making things up", as is typical of anti-progress secular institutions.

Uhhh really though, don't see where it says how many armies we start with, just that we deploy them on turn 0. So presumably we start up to cap with them.
