I feel like this is a bit skewed. I was dragged here by force- whereas DGR could tailor his deck to the region. I'd argue that defending a region is harder than conquering it.
Admittedly, if a region was conquered, that might indicate that the team has good cards for the region (and we do, Refinery works very well here). But I don't think that outweighs the deck-tailoring advantage- at best it balances out.

I see your point Nuke, but defending the status quo should be less profitable (in VP) than breaking into new territory. The owner of a region has already proven once that they can win that region, but someone seizing it is actually demonstrating fresh prowess and that deserves to be rewarded.
