I am Tonnot, ninety-eighth of my name. I have done my ancestors proud by producing a stellar piece of artwork and engineering in the form of the might artifact gem hatch, "Shecedthedak," and even now it keeps the horrors of the caverns at bay. It is the 107th year of our calendar, and I have watched the fortress of Irritan Anam grow for six of them.
The role of Overseer has passed through new hands every year, and now the honor is mine. I don't know why
our king doesn't step up to lead. Something about being busy administrating the affairs of the realm, so now we have a bunch of other nobles visiting every so often.

First order of business will be to quell the rabble-rousers. There's enough problems dealing with invaders and giant monsters, we can't have the people at each other's throats. It's a good thing that there's a few scapegoats that everyone agrees on. Shorast Amostser with eight counts of Disorderly Conduct, and Erush Rodumegel also with eight counts of Disorderly Conduct. And strangely enough, Dasmir, a human lady-consort, admitted to trying to steal an artifact. So she's going to the dungeon as well.

Oops, one of the guards decided to beat Dasmir to death with her bare hands. I hope this doesn't have political consequences.
Only a few hours later, a force of goblins has arrived! A group of six thieves and ten or so bowmen. They're easily seen off by our heavily armored infantry who suffered not even a scratch. The men tell me that even the giant flies were harrying them on their way out! Ha!

There's been a recruitment drive! For all of these poets and bards that have been growing fat off of our generosity, it has come time to reap our harvest. If they truly wish to call themselves citizens of our great nation, then they must be willing to wield a sword and spill blood for it. I made two new infantry squads and a marksman squad and told them to get to training ASAP. I could've made a fourth with the left-over poets, but this should do for now. Hopefully the dining hall will be a bit quieter...

Unruly children... Must I threaten them with a spell in the dungeon?

An elven caravan has arrived, and so has a giant monster from the caverns!
It's occupying the same level as the previous dust-breathing monster, perhaps we will lose a rival in their confrontation?

The king redirected an elf diplomat my way, and he threatens consequences if I cut down any more than five trees this year. I made sure to issue the order for those trees to be felled while the elves are leaving so they can watch.

The two forgotten beasts tangled with each other in a terrifyingly loud duel! In the end, it was a mutual kill as whatever their "deadly dust" was disintigrated both of their bodies. Perhaps the 2nd cavern layer should remain sealed off until a more engineering-oriented overseer can flood it and clean away the contamination.

I've told the Mayor, Avuz to be our broker from now on. He might not be as skilled of an appraiser as As, but As has recently spent all of his time worshiping fervently, rather than working. We traded some rock crafts for some fruit. The Elves only had fruit and nuts on offer, so I'm not sure they could really back up their threats.

Hmmm...
Justice served. I sicced a guard on her, and he broke her hands with that beat down.

That 14 year old I arrested earlier just murdered another person and put two others in body casts. The others describe Shorast as "being in a constant state of internal rage." I need to get rid of this issue before this gets out of hand. He's only gonna be a better fighter the longer he does this!

Some thief tried getting away with an artifact, but drowned in the river. But now we can't actually get the artifact because no one can swim...

Fath Zanegoddom, creator of Atoltaran just killed a giant fly with her bare fists. Not just any giant fly, but Torchsounded, the bastard that's been breaking every other visitor's arm or leg for the past few months.

Welcome to the Limestone Quarry / Arena! It's under construction right now, but we already have our first contestant! It's none other than the double murderer, furious fourteen year old, Shorast Amostser! I told the kid that he has a new, bigger room with a mini menagerie of his own. He flipped me off and went to bed. The door's barred, and all that's left is to pull the lever. If he can wake up and defeat three angry troglodytes bare handed, then I might just let him live...

Summer has been uneventful lately. The trogs refused to kill the child, so I had to send the military in to kill them. So then I stuck the Blind Cave Ogre in there with the child. Even the ogre refused to harm him! What other proof do I need of this child's evil, when even the creatures of the deep see him as one of their own?
12th of Hematite
The human caravan arrived, and one of their guards got killed by a swarm of giant flies, which scared off their diplomat. I sent the men out to kill this grounded swarm, and they did, but it was too little too late. I just hope there's no political consequences for this...

We were attacked by a large group of giant flies and lice, and luckily the soldiers were already in the area and quickly dealt with them. But now the people have formed a large, static crowd outdoors. They're not throwing parties, praying, or going to guild halls. They're just standing outside in the rain. What's going on here??
27th of Hematite
OOC: Okay now I'm really worried. They've been standing there for two weeks spamming "felt vengeful when in combat" and cancelling jobs because of an agitated fly and they're all thirsty now. The one living fly that remains is staying still in one spot at elevation 60, out of range of the marksmen.

While trying to coax people back inside, Shorast threw another tantrum and killed three performers. Now he's a quintuple murderer that cannot be dealt with by dwarven law because of his age.

I don't get it. I really don't. Even the most dangerous and universally despised creatures refuse to touch this child! What evil has possessed our fortress? The people stay outside all day staring at the sun, and this child freely murders people in fits of demonic rage!
I think I've had enough. Instead of trying to coax the creatures of the deep to kill this demon, I'll keep him locked away in the limestone quarry. I'll have to find some more flux stone elsewhere to continue steel production, our troops may be armed with the finest swords but we're lacking in proper armor still!
