Dang sorry to hear that the update gave you trouble.

I wasn't aware that the adventure updated had been released, all the stuff I'm seeing says the newest update is 50.12 still.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - Migrants

Unib Oiledsiege, Woodcutter and member of the Diamond Weights, was, at the moment, helping install the doors.  For some reason she was wearing a gabbro crown and a rhyolite crown.  And she was wearing a NEW wild boar leather robe over her pig tail dress.

Early spring had come.  But outside the water was frozen and snow was still on the ground.  The calendar said it was spring but the weather said otherwise.

The door she had installed was one of the new offices that had been dug out.  The Leader, and the Book Keeper, were getting sick of working among the crowds, noise, and smells of the first floor chamber.

After installing the doors she went to brew some sand pears.  She was...displeased.  She was missing friends, family, praying.  And also her two lovers were not in the outpost.

And she wanted to acquire more items.  Not doubt why she was wearing two crowns.

She then decided to have a hen egg roast.  Which was made up of finely minced cow cheese, will-minced pig cheese, finely minced pig cheese, and minced hen egg.  So more like a two-cheese omelett.

She took it to the tavern.  And while eating her meal, which was a fine dish, she felt satisfied discussing her problems with a acquaintance.  In fact that acquaintance was Rakfil Catcrested the Human Poet who had been drinking there while enjoying a good argument.  But not too happy about the worms.

Hey, that's what you get when you let turkeys into the Nut of Crafts.

Unib went to wash down the dish with a mug of Blackberry wine.  Which got her drunk.  Also she liked it for being a pretty decent drink.

At least the room and board wasn't bad in this outpost.

On the 7th of Granite she went to see the Leader.  Where she cried.  She wasn't the only citizen who was displeased.  More than half of them were displeased.

Then, on the 9th of Granite, the elven caravan from Quithecaraca had been spotted.  Well, two elves and two pack animals.

The Leader ordered the inner door of the Depot opened and FOUR cut gems taken to it.  Surely the elven traders would have no issues with gems?  Right?

After the elven traders unloaded their wares the Broker, ingiz Swordtundra, traded them for two barrels, a grown hemp cloak, a rami robe, ten apricots, ten apples, ten pears, ten peaches, ten plums, and ten bayberries.  Giving the elven traders about 2736 credits in profit.

There wasn't really anything else the Broker saw of worth.  They didn't even have any books.

Funny.  The traders' pack animals had been a Yak cow and a male unicorn.

While this was happening Unib had been in the Unbridled Mark meditating on Thralldom.  Why she was thinking of slavery was unkown.  Surely she didn't think of herself as a slave of the outpost?

Outside, in the cold, the last remaining raven flew around.  With the spring had also come the Giant Flies!  But unlike the bird they were not interested in starting fights.

Then there was a surprise.  A elven caravan from Coce Rera had also been spotted.  Oh dear.  Another two elfs and two Yaks.

The Leader decided this was not a problem.  Maybe they would have something the first traders had not?  The Leader ordered three cut gems to the Depot.

She helped move one of the gems to the Depot and then grabbed the new grown hemp cloak.

The Broker was called back to the Trade Depot.  As the first traders were leaving the second traders were unloading.

For the three cut gems the Broker bought up fifteen almonds, fifteen hazel nuts, ten pecans, five walnuts, five acorns, five mangos, five apples, five peaches, five plums, five oranges, a grown alder buckler, and two buckets.  Which gave the traders around 2807 credits of profit.

With that all the new fruits were being brewed Unib was working on cooking more lavish meals.  In this case she was cooking with hazel nuts.  You couldn't brew or plant them so you may as well cook them.

Then she got a drink of blackberry wine.

Then something weird happened.  Migrants appeared from the north.  A Third Wave of Migrants?  How?

There was a male Miner named Dishmab Lanternbury, a male Weaver named Avuz Girderravens, a male Woodcrafter named Rakust Walkedgilt, a male Gem Setter named Dastot Bootbridged, a male Weaver named Zas Dentbolted, a male Lye Maker named Ustuth Deerarrow, a male Weaver named Sakzul Blazedcastle, a male Miner named Imush Zealtool, a male Hunter named Shorast Gearedswords, and a male Peasant named Deler Talonoils.  There was also a female Engraver named Led Ragclutch, a female Peasant named Zon Sabrescaled, a female Iden Tradeyearlings, a female Siege Engineer named Ducim Helmsdistinct, a female Carpenter named Ral Redbolt, a female Woodcrafter named Logem Slingclose, a female Woodcutter named Alath Coalrubs, a female Peasant named Atir Wheelbone, and a female Potter named Unib Doordrills.

Led and Avuz were married.  So a new bedroom would have to be made for them.  And they had a child, male, named Inod Wheelstheater.

There was also a male child who belonged to Iden.  Named Oddom Insightsarrow.  But there seemed to be no father on the records.

At least there was bedrooms ready for some of them.  All were were formed into one-dwarf squads.  Some would train in early winter and some would train in late winter.

The Peasant  Deler was also given the position of Performer of the Silvery Church as he was a follower of Alron.

They also brought a stray Blue Peacock, a pig, a dog, a bunny, a cavy boar, and a yak.

Unib was attending a meeting at the time of the migrants pouring into the small outpost.  Which was now a Hamlet!

The number of citizens was now forty-one!  Beds, cabinets, chests would have to be produced and bedrooms dug out.

Well, at least this meant more people to talk to?

With all the new citizens the Leader decided the small library needed one Scholar and one Scribe.  Sazir Inkoceans was now a Scholar and Unib Oiledsiege found out she had been selected as the new Scribe!

She was going up in the world!

The mid spring came and some of the Diamond Weights went to train in the barracks.  Including herself.

The rivers were still frozen as the first day of Slate rolled around.

So the update broke my game.  Well, let's see how long I can handle this.  If not I can try to see if I can't create a World of Bones 2.0!

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness -   The Cast Part Four

And so the Third Wave hit the Town of Coldness.  And the little outpost became a Hamlet.  Which is not as tasty as it sounds.  Hmmm...hamlet.  Many were horrifed by the black bear dead bodies that still were piled outside the entry way.  Surely a bad sign.  But they were here now and had to stay.

First there was a male Miner named Dishmab Lanternbury.  Now, like many others a Militia Captain.  He valued self-control and was a thrill-seeker but hated hard work, knowledge, and power.

At least he was a talented Brewer and a accomplished Miner.  And seemed to be satisfied with his first work assignments.

Then there was the male Weaver named Avuz Girderravens.  Who was also now a Militia Captain.  He had poor social awareness and disdained fairness.  Also wasn't a family guy.

Which was funny because he was married to Led Ragclutch and have one child.  And he seemed to LIKE his wife.   Lovely father.  At least he could Plant as well as Weave.  The first thing he did when he arrived was grab some military gear.

The next was male Woodcrafter named Rakust Walkedgilt.  Who was also a Militia Captain.  Who would have thought!  He valued cunning but disdained romance and wasn't dutiful.

He was a High Master Woodcrafter, a Adequate Weaponsmith, a Adequate Bone Carver, and a Novice Beekeeper.  Not much in the way of military skills.  Though he had been more than happy to grab all the military gear he could carry.

The next was a  male Gem Setter named Dastot Bootbridged.  Who was now a Militia Captain.  He even had some skills with Armor and Wrestling.  And was fearless.  And frail.  Oh well.

And he had a pet piglet.

Then there was another male Weaver who was named Zas Dentbolted.  Who was also a Militia Captain.  He valued cunning and was trusting.  He was tough and had good focus.  And was already making friends.

But had no military skills.  And was kind of weak.  So that could be a problem.

Then there was a male Lye Maker named Ustuth Deerarrow.  Who was, you guessed it, a Militia Captain.  He was distrustful but slow to hate.  And had SOME skills in combat.  Sadly he was also clumsy.

His first act was to go pray to Alron in the Silvery Church.

Then there was another male Weaver.  His name was Sakzul Blazedcastle.  And was now a Militia Captain.  He had good focus and high stamina.  He was also strong and quick to heal.  And was enjoying himself.  Making friends and watching performances.

And he had a pet dog.  Which should help keep him happy.  Unless somebody kills and eats the dog.

Then there was male Miner named Imush Zealtool.  Yes, now a Militia Captain.  He was frail but had high willpower and recovered quickly.  And for a Former Miner seemed pretty flimsy.

His first act had been to go pray to Datan in the Unbridled Mark.

Then there had been male Hunter named Shorast Gearedswords.  Of course he was now a Militia Captain with the coolest last name.  He was also a Competent Marksdwarf and Dodger.  Which meant he was likely the most experienced of the Militia Captains in the Third Wave.

He was already networking as he was now passing acquaintances with one of the Human Poets, the Leader, and another Militia Captain.  Maybe it was his high social awareness?  Yes, his first stop had been the Nut of Crafts.

And the last male on this list was a Peasant named Deler Talonoils.  Who was, yes, now a Militia Captain.  As you could guess he didn't have much in the way of skills.  Though he had good spatial sense and valued harmony.  But he was also cruel and inattentive.

He was busy making rock doors and seemed happy so far.

Those are all males of the Third Wave.  Most were happy, some were upset by the dead bodies, and only a few seem prepared to fight for their lives against the wildlife and future animal folk attacks.

Our next chapter will deal with the females, and children, of the Third Wave.

Author's Note:

That's not too bad.  But it took a long time filling in my notebook!  Still, kind of like the close-ups on the stat sheets.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness -   The Cast Part Five

The Third Wave didn't just have male dwarfs.  It also had the female dwarfs.  Like the rest of the new citizens some of them were surprised by all the dead animal folks.  Some just grabbed some military gear.  And some just went to work.

The first of the females was a Engraver named Led Ragclutch.  Who was now, like the rest, a Militia Captain.  She was a little on a thin side and, like many within her culture, her head was shaved.

She was somewhat happier than most as she had come with her spouse, Avuz, and her only son.  On the other hand she was a talented Axedwarf and shield user and armor user.  Likely one of the better skilled when it came to combat among the females.

Then there was a female Peasant named Zon Sabrescaled.  Who was now a Militia Captain.  With no skills.  Well, she had been a Peasant!

There was not much else to say.  Hopefully, she could now do something great in her new home.

Then there was the female Gem Cutter named Iden Tradeyearlings.  Who was now a Militia Captain.  Who had no skills in combat.  Her head was also shaved.

Her first stop had been to visit the Temple the Unbridled Mark to commune with the Escorted Fortress before going to help store a item in the stockpile.  At least her only son had joined her in their new home.  So she would not be lonely.

There was the female Siege Engineer named Ducim Helmsdistinct.  Of course she was now a Militia Captain.  Who, for some reason, went straight to the barracks to start individual combat drill.  Not sure why she did that?

She DID have some combat skills.  So maybe she just felt the urge to train?  Maybe a future Sheriff?  Or Hammerer?

The next female dwarf we will write about was a Carpenter named Ral Redbolt.  Now a Militia Captain.  Who was a talented Carpenter and nothing else.

In fact the first thing she did was start working with the wood.  In fact she was making beds.  And she had a bunny.  Which might help keep her from getting lonely.  She was patient, slow to hate, but also sickly and frail.  But unlike many of the females she had long hair.

Then there was the female Woodcrafter named Logem Slingclose.  Who didn't seem to know how to use a sling.  And was now a Militia Captain.  Unlike most she ALSO had long hair.

Funny enough she was already somewhat unhappy.  Though seemed to like doors.  And had gone to the tavern to tell a story.

Then there was another female Woodcutter named Alath Coalrubs.  Who was also a Militia Captain with no combat skills.  She was a little on the thin side, clumsy, and flimsy.

But she knew how to cook and knew something about herbs.  Though like many wasn't happy about all the dead animal folks.

Then there was another female Peasant.  This one named Atir Wheelbone.  Who was now a Militia Captain.  Without any combat skills.  Who was also slow to heal, flimsy, and frail.

At least she was enjoying the story in the tavern.

The last female dwarf was a Potter named Unib Doordrills.  Who was now a Militia Captain.  And had also gone to individual combat training.  After crying on the Leader.  Seems she was already having it kind of tough.

At least she had a list of combat skills.  On the other hand she was SMALL for a dwarf.

Then there were the two kids.  The 5 year old Inod Wheestheater and the 17 year old Oddom Insightsarrow.  Both were hauling logs and seemed to be okay with everything.

Let us hope there are no more migrants!

Author's Note:

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness -   Two Little Boys

Inod Wheelstheater, the five year old male child, and Oddom Insightsarrow, the seventeen year old male child, were both hauling logs into the hamlet.

The 3rd of Slate, of mid-spring, was still so cold that there was still snow on the ground and the water was still frozen.

As they brought in logs rooms were being dug out.  New bedrooms were needed and likely a Sheriff would be needed.  Also a Hammerer.  Which meant a jail would be required.  And more temples would be needed also.

The elves announced they would be heading out soon on the 5th.  Both caravans would be leaving around the same time.

On the 7th if was noticed that a Black Bear Woman had stolen some sand pears.  Of course, the pros, the Diamond Weights, were sent out to kill her.  It was feared this was a sign of animal folks returning to the region.  And they needed to be hunted down and killed quickly before they could cause trouble.

In fact there were a total of four Black Bear Folks hanging around outside the settlement.  Along with the agitated raven and giant flies.

But the Bear folk seemed to keep out of the reach of the Diamond Weights and they returned on their own when they lost track of the female.

Ber Gemcrested, who had been a Farmer, was made the Sheriff.  Of course he was given a tiny office and dining area.  TINY.

Large chambers were dug out for future temples and another Carpenter's Workshop was ordered to be created.  They needed more barrels and beds.

Turkeys, those not inside the pens, were being killed for their meat and leather.  Soldiers needed protection after all.  And needed to be fed.

More bedrooms had been dug out and smoothed out and filled with the basics.  One had been expanded for the marriaged couple who had arrived in the last wave.

As the end of mid-spring, with the coming of late Spring, Likot the Miner was selected as the Hammerer.  And outside the warmth had come and the water was starting to pour into the tunnels.  Heading towards the well!

And the two boys were still storing stuff into the stockpiles, drinking, eating, and waiting for somebody to make some toys.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - A Working Well

Atir Wheelbone, Former Peasant and new Militia Captain, had been in the last Wave of migrants.

And was, at the moment, on the 2nd Felsite, listening to a story in the Nut of Crafts.  Which had been reopened to the public.  All visitors were now welcome to the Tavern.

And the well was filling up now that the water which was no longer frozen.

On the 13th a group of ravens rushed the entry way.  Two got smashed to death by hammers and rock traps, one was trapped in a cage, and another escaped.  Barely.

Then it returned and was killed.    Though two other agitated ravens were spotted.  And a giant red panda sow.  How cute!

While this was happening Atir had been doing some woodworking, sleeping in the Carpenter's Workshop, and getting sick on miasma.  And she had also noticed all the dead ravens.  Ewww.

Once the caged raven was tame enough it was butchered, of course.

In the Tavern was a bunch of human warriors, and at least one bard, all enjoying themselves.  Well, at least the Bard was.  The human warriors were all asking about a place called Friend-someplace-or-other.  Humans, always asking questions.  Silly ground dwelling apes.

Mining was expanded on and four more workshops were ordered to be built.  Two new Stoneworker's Workshops, another Carpenter's Workshop, and another Craftsdwarf's Workshop.

It was also decided to make another Kitchen near the Butcher's Workshop.  Meat was going rottn too fast.

Then Summer came on the 1st of Hematite.  And with it a bunch of elfs in wooden armor and armed with wooden weapons decided to visit the Tavern. Funny enough we found Atir back in the Tavern.  This time she is reciting poetry!

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - A Deadly Moose!

It was early summer and Alath Coalrubs, Former Woodcutter and now a Militia Captain, was working on making leather armor at the Leather Works.

She liked the work as she was somewhat skilled with leather.  She had been working a lot lately.  Likely to overcome her negative feelings.  Like how she had run into a cloud of miasma.  And all the black bear corpses.

On the other hand she now had a nice bedroom.  A great bedroom to be honest.  And the booze helped.

As she worked on the armor the Leader decided to build a THIRD Carpenter's Workshop.  Right next to the wood stockpile.

Also it was decided to work on the entry way.  More traps.  And maybe to make it longer.  With so many living within the Hamlet it was felt more care was needed to protect against monsters, wild animals, and invaders.

On the 4th of Hematite a request was handed to the Leader, Id, from Kashi Fondledelbows.  A human Bard who wished to reside in the Town of Coldness to entertain the citizens and the visitors.  It was approved.

Then a new Temple, the Chapel of Taxing, was made for Berdan Soldwealthy.  He is linked to trade and wealth.  And had eight followers within the Hamlet.  A rock statue was ordered to be made in his likeness.

A worshipper of the Deity, Militia Captain Led Ragclutch,  from the last Wave was picked to be a Performer for the Temple.

On the 13th of Hematite the human caravan from Beruomon arrived.  The paperwork was checked to see if the Hamlet had any deals with the humans.  There were none.

So it was decided to trade two cut gems and all the backpacks.

As this was happening a raven was spotted and a unit sent after it.  It was killed but the body was right next to the Depot.  Oh well.  Hopefully it didn't scare off the humans.

In the mines more rought black opals had been found.  More than enough wealth to pay anything the Hamlet needed for years.  If not more!

The humans seemed to be carrying mostly food.   The Broker bought 19 bilberries, 5 blueberries, 5 blackberries, 5 grapes, and 5 raspberries.  They could be brewed AND give us more seeds for the above ground farm plots.

They didn't have much else of interest.  Only one gem was handed over to them which still gave them a profit of 940 credits.  They seemed very happy.

As this was happening a Moose cow was spotted and a unit sent to kill it.  For some reason the child Oddom went off to also attack the Moose and was murdered by it.  Luckily there were already coffins available.

Two more units were sent out to help as it seems some of the soldiers of the first unit, the Diamond Weights, had rushed out without being armed.  Sigh.

The Moose cow was finally overwhelmed by ARMED soldiers and went down.

Seemed to be a lot of wild pigs outside.  But they were normal wild pigs.  On the other hand the Age of Ravens seems to have ended as the last is dead.

Near the end of Hematite Alath was cooking.  Another skill of her's.  Too bad about the clouds of miasma!

Then Mid-Summer came.  And with it came twice as many wild pigs!  But also the second death of the Town.  Hamlet.  Whatever.

And yeah, I found a map of North America and made sure we have a Pole on the North.  Sorry Canada.
How? Did someone craft it by hand, or is it generated somehow?

IT was crafted by hand.  You can find maps on the net.

I got this map from a file from here...it also has Middle Earth.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - Possessed!

Iden Tradeyearlings had come to the settlement with her kid to start a new life.  And had it been crushed by a wild moose when the animal killed her son.

In fact she was having a hard time feeling anything and was displeased with her lot.  Not as bad as some but she was in a pretty bad emotional state.  She was trying to overcome the sadness with entertainment and work.  But....

As she worked to overcome the horror of losing her only family member the Hamlet kept on going.  Turkeys were butchered, hides turned into leather, and even a Petition was turned in.  Seems Muthe Adorejoked, a female human Bard, wanted to reside in the Hamlet.

At least it was assumed she was female as she lacked a beard.  She was welcomed to the 'Town' and given a bedroom.

On the 5th of Malachite Cog Fencedashed, while in a tree picking sand pears, got possessed by a unknown force!

As this was happening another Petition was turned in by Gamo Birdskisses to reside in the Hamlet.  But no one individual fit that name. Was it a group asking to live in the Hamlet?  That seemed like a issue.  So it was turned down.

Then the human merchants announced they were leaving.

By the 18th Cog was still in the tree.  Seems somebody took the ladder.  The fruit tree he was in, while useful, was ordered to be cut down.  Which was cancelled when he moved to another tree.  Then another. Seems he was trying to find a way to one of the other ladders.  And was failing.

Also one of the pet birds was found dead.  And the Temple to Berdan Soldwealthy finally got its statue.  Funny enough, by accident or misunderstanding, three other statues of Berdan had been made.  Oh well, they could be exported with the backpacks the next time traders showed up.  Well, non-Elf traders.

When late summer arrived Cog was still in the tree.   While this was happening Iden had gotten drunk and was now carrying out a individual combat drill.  Always good to mix booze and a silver battle axe!   Which was weird.  Surely she was meant to train during winter?

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - Heroes Are Sometimes VERY Tiny

Dishmab Lanternbury, a Former Miner and now Militia Captain of the Clouts of Ink, was drinking.

In fact he was drinking prickle berry wine from a rhyolite mug which was of superior quality.  But he wasn't in the tavern.  He was in one of the storage chambers dipping the mug into a barrel of prickle berry wine.

And unlike many of the people of the Hanlet he was somewhat pleased with things.  He enjoyed work, he enjoyed chatting with others, he had even enjoyed praying to Alron.  Even had a good bedroom to sleep in and was satisfied with yelling at the Leader.

At least the channel from one of the branches of the river that went to the pond that fed the well had been finished last month.  The pond had almost been completely empty.  Now it was full.

And the tombstone to Oddom had been placed in front of his coffin.

And now the well was overflowing.   Sigh.  Luckily it soon stopped and all was well.

The inner bridge of the Trade Depot was lifted  to close off that entry way and it was also announced that four bee hives had been finished.  They would be placed in the barn.

On the 16th of Galena there was some alarm among the populace as a Tribe of Bear Folks had been spotted!  Should the units go after them or should they be ignored?

And Cog was still trapped in the tree.  Sigh.

On the 17th of Galena it was decided to close the Hamlet.  To activate the barrow, in other words, and kick out all the visitors.

In fact many of the units were ordered to station themselves in the tavern.  But one idiot, named Atir Wheelbone, a female dwarf outside decided to attack the approaching Bear Folk.  While unarmed.  And unprotected.  So plans had to be changed.  Now all units had to go out and attack the Bear Folks to save this one idiot.

And Cog was stricken by melancholy.  To be honest nobody cared.

The first to die was Urvad.  A cavy boar who attacked one of the Bear Folk.  So a pet was the first to die in defending the Hamlet.

The next to die was Ustuth Deerarrow.  The third dwarf to die in the Town.

By the 22nd all the Bear Folks were dead.  And the units were recalled back to the Hamlet and their normal duties.

Both Rakust Walkedgilt and Sazir Likotmigrur were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.  Militia Captain Litast Scrapedoar was also recovering a third wounded soldier at the time - Logem Slingclose.

Dishmab, after the fight, went straight to his bedroom to sleep.  He is unharmed but also had no kills to his name.

Cog finally got out of the trees and seemed to be heading back home.  In a zig-zag kind of way.

Ustuth was placed in a coffin as early autumn arrived.  And the tavern was reopened to visitors.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - Following Melancholy

Cog Fencedashed was healthy.  At least in body.  In mind he wasn't going well.

While he bounced about like a drunken bumble bee a human Bard turned in a petition to become a reside and was welcomed into the Hamlet.

On the 10th of Limestone the dwarf caravan from Taberiton had arrived.  The extra statues were ordered to the Trad Depot.  The backpacks were already there.  Also one cut gem was ordered to the Depot.

It seemed the liaison Bomrek Theaterlearn had also arrived.

At this point Cog was very upset and thirsty.

Leader Id Adducim, was at this point, meeting the liaison.  Id asked for nothing but the liaion said the King wanted shields or bucklers and blocks.  The Leader agreed and ordered bucklers, shields, and blocks all be made.

As this was happening the pigs, cows, and many of the herd animals were either giving birth or the young ones were becoming adults.  Which meant more milk, wool, and meat in the future!

The Broker, Ingiz, was so busy moving stuff to bins that he was ignoring the traders.  So another dwarf was given the job.  Ubbul Tanglerampart, who was cooking at the time, was told he was the new Broker.

Once he finished cooking he ran right to the Trade Depot!  Good dwarf!  With all the items to trade he had 1145 credits to work with.  As the Hamlet had enough food he looked for weapons, books, stuff that would not rot.

He bought two ropes, a nanny goat and a billy goat, one waterskin, one pick, and ten plump helmets.  Giving the Traders about 631 credits in profit.  Need to keep them happy.

The goats were sent to the barn and the plump helmets were sent to be brewed!

By now Cog was thirsty and drowsy.

On the 22nd of Limestone a agitated bull moose was spotted.  The Diamond Weights were ordered to station themselves outside the entry, to give them time to arm and prepare themselves, before heading out to kill it.

Sadly, that plan went to hell when a dwarf, a elite crossbow dwarf, attacked the moose.  Without a crossbow.  So the Diamond Weights was told to get out there and attack the damn thing.  At least when it was overwhelmed and killed nobody was wounded or hurt among the unit members.

Oh, and there was a giant wolf out there somewhere also.  And killed by some passing soldiers who were on their way to kill the moose.  The moose caused more issues.

Mid autumn came.  And so did the cry for logs.  Everybody needed logs.  And Cog was still alive.  Barely.  He was hungry, drowsy, and dehydrated.  And bored.

Dwarf Fortress - The Town Of Coldness - Sand Pear Cider

Avuz Girderravens, Former Weaver and Militia Captain of the Armored Bodices, was enjoying a rhyolite mug of sand pear cider.  Which seemed to be popular those days.  Likely due to having so much of it.

He was married to Led and had a young son Inod.  Lucky for him both were alive and in the Hamlet.

As this was happening Cog was still wandering around dehydrated and hungry and needing sleep.

It also looks like Ducim Helmsdistinct was in the hospital.  Recovering from the fight with the Bear Folks or the Bull Moose?

By the 5th of Sandstone Avuz was in the library, the Crystalline Home, reading To The Forest And Glory!   A 100 page guide that concerned the forst retreat of Handleddive.  While not awful it is not very good.  The library had a small collection of about seven codices at this point.  And a few citizens visited it daily along with some guests from the outside.

The humans announced they would be leaving on the 6th of Sandstone and started to pack their stuff up.

The workers continued to scream for logs.  Shields and bolts needed to be made.  More barrels and beds were needed.  But everyone was busy doing this or that.

While this was happening Avuz was binding books.  And outside the winter came early as the water froze.

With the cold coming Avuz went outside to gather the bilberries from the farm plots in the barn.  Then he went to sleep in the bedroom he shared with his wife.

A Human Poet, Gelu Pinetrims, put forward a request to stay in the Hamlet to entertain the people.  It was approved.  But mostly because he was a Wound Dresser and Suturer.  And might make a good future doctor.

Another Human Bard put in a Petition but was denied as he had no special skills.  Not even as a Bard.

By now Cog was starving.

Near the end of mid autimn Avuz was helping the others plant seeds in the below ground farming plots.

And as the month drew near a end he picked up his pig leather armour, shell gauntlets, turkey bone helm, and shell leggings.  Then went to individual combat drill.

On the 22nd Sandstone Cog was found dead.  Dehydrated.  A coffin had already been selected as his tomb.  And a slab was ready to become his memorial.

Chief Medical Dwarf Dodok Diamondburied took his corpse to his tomb.  Inod, the five year old child, would be the poor chap to haul the memorial slab to Cog's tomb.

Of course, as this was happening two Hunters went out to kill some animals and one ran into a Cow Moose.  Sigh.

Another Human, this time a Dancer called Satheth Trickstills, asked to become a resident.  He WAS skilled in fishing, fish cleaning, and fish dissecting.  So his request was approved.

And the demand for logs continued!  Also the Diamond Weights were sent to kill the Cow Moose before it murdered anybody.

Then Late Autumn came.   And Avuz drilled on happily improving his military skills.  And the Cow Moose fled a unit of will trained soldiers.
