It is the year 1444 AA in Cannor.
It has been five years since the end of the Fourth Lilac war, and the empire of Anbennar still reels at the loss of its rightful rulers in Dameria. And a mere four since the decades long atrocity that was the Greentide was ended by the bravery of the marcher lords and adventurers who fought alongside the defiant war god Agrados reborn when she gave her life to slay the self proclaimed son of the orc god Dookan in single combat, leaving the ruined land of Escann with hope for a brighter future.
It is in pursuit of that self same hope that the ragged, wounded band still calling itself ‘the Silver Company’ has limped its way back into Esmaria to lick their wounds, and bring good news to the refugees in Cannor, not of the red haired goddess and her ascension, but of something closer to home.
In truth, the rightful queen of Adenica still lives, and she is calling upon every wandering sellsword, every exiled noble Adenican or otherwise seeking to reclaim the glory that was denied to them, and of every son and daughter still seeking the home of their fathers and mothers to march in her name and reclaim the old capital of Taranton from the greenskinned menace once and for all.
Or at least, they will… After dealing with a few pirates for the Ryalanlar temple. After all, there’s no sense in leading unproven men into the meatgrinder, and after such a hard won victory in Castanoth, the veterans of the Silver Company sure wouldn’t mind celebrating with the riverbargemen, it’s just a few weeks after all, what’s the worst that could happen?
AEF: The Silver Company is a play by post TRPG campaign using the mysterious Fire Emblem on the Forums system (
3.Elf.15 Handbook version without weapon experience, and
Elf’s Gun-Totin’, High-Falutin’ Firearm Supplement) that is set in the opening years of the popular EU4 fantasy mod Anbennar, albeit with a few points of divergences.
In it you will be one of many hopefuls seeking to reclaim perceived lost glory, seek great wealth, or make a name for yourself in the history books as part of the Silver Company, a band of wandering knights and exiled nobility who are veterans of two of the bloodiest wars the subcontinents of Cannor and Escann has seen in recent memory. While well regarded now, the company master’s royal ambitions, and the losses incurred in the struggle against the Dookanson means that the Silver Company needs new blood, among many other things.
I am currently looking for six players, there’s no like, hard and fast rule for what the exact roles would be either narratively or mechanically, but I’d like some mixture of diehard co conspirators and people who were just here for the money at first probably, actual class comp can be navigated later just pick one you like.
NPCsThe Silver Company
Vivian ‘Young Rogier’ Adenner (Cavalier Lord)
The Silver Company’s perfect queen in waiting, and chief negotiator and effective leader, albeit only off the field due to his relative youth and lack of experience. Vivian claims to be the last surviving main male line descendant member of the illustrious Adenner dynasty smuggled out by loyalist guards during Adenica’s tragic fall, and raised in exile to become the just and perfect queen she was always meant to be, and she certainly looks and acts the part, carrying herself with a regal bearing and dignity entirely unbecoming of a defacto leader of a small mercenary band, even if it is one that could boast of having fought alongside Corrin herself at one point.
She is a serious and honorable woman, who has dedicated herself entirely to her self proclaimed cause, even going so far as to swear an oath to her patron God Adean to neither cut her hair nor enjoy the pleasures of the fairer sex until she sits upon her rightful throne with the love of her people as their queen. Although she is not as strict with others as she is with herself, she prefers to keep an orderly camp, and is keen on others achieving the greatness they will need to aspire to in order to reclaim their lost lands, or make their mark on history.
As she puts it, her distant uncle, Rogier of Cantercurse chose to raise her as his squire ‘Rogier Jr’ within the company as he wanted to make something more out of the last legacy of the Adenner dynasty than a mere trophy to be fought over in some Anbennarian court to lend her prestigious name and claims to her future husband and children. It is something she is a little grateful for even if she has chosen to cast it aside in her bid for the company’s leadership.
Rogier ‘The Elder’ of Cantercurse
Big and burly bear of a man with short black hair, a long and coarse beard, and fair enough skin that you could almost mistake him for a Gerudian, especially with the way he swings that axe around in battle.
While he is not officially one of the casualties of the Battle of Castanoth, he was very close with the Silver Company’s previous leader, Arctur, and injured himself severely in a maddened struggle to reach his body. The company’s barber says he’ll be back to fighting shape in no time, but until then he mostly sticks around camp as an advisor, master of arms, and alleged bodyguard (although he cannot follow Vivian into battle himself).
He joined the Company about 11 years ago, back when Vivian was just about old enough to lug around a sword and pretend to know how to use it (she still doesn’t), he claimed that she was his squire (male) and closest living relative and no one paid it much heed.
He is allegedly one of many Damerian veterans of a Lilac war, although it’s unclear which one exactly. And a common joke made at his expense due to his receding hairline, perpetually dour expression, and unclear age is that he doesn’t need to specify because he is actually a veteran of The Lilac wars, all hundred odd years worth of them.
He is a fairly strict drillmaster, and swings a sword about as well as he pierces with a lance and hacks away with an axe, and in his brighter days he spends most of it complaining about the form and stance of new recruits while other, more mobile instructors go through the actual motions required to teach them.
He sleeps in his own tent now, and snores very loudly.
Anna ‘of the Forge’, Vanbury Guild Representative
A fiery haired, bright eyed and only slightly pushy saleswoman from the Vanbury Guild (based out of Telgeir) who has chosen to embed herself in the company as their defacto quartermaster, doing so in order to adhere to ensure the party adheres to the terms of the written contract they had signed to only purchase weapons and armor of Telgeir make as sourced through her specifically (for the commissions), and in order to effectively have a cheap mercenary guard and porters to escort her own goods as the company travels from town to town (she is also somehow on the company’s payroll).
Her obvious corruption and greed is unfortunately outweighed by her genuine contacts with the wider Vanbury guild network, and the company’s unwillingness to really pick a legal battle with their technically official representative, at least until the contract Arctur apparently signed runs out.
At least she’s fun to drink with though.
Rycan the Potion Seller
A young barber hailing from the county of Varaine, he joined the company shortly before the battle of Castanoth, having arrived alongside one of the many caravans that brought shipments of healing potions out into camp before the big battle, he chose to join with the Silver Company after being moved by the passion, fiery determination, and beauty of Corin, and has stuck around afterwards partly out of a sense of grim responsibility for the wounded that still needs to be brought back to civilization, and partly because the company’s ranks have largely been bolstered it seems by some rather attractive people.
He is a self proclaimed workaholic, and seems to be a capable surgeon, and while he is incapable of making healing potions himself, he’s at the very least trained in how to best utilize and transport it enmasse, and capable of discerning good and bad stock at a moment’s notice.
He has a slender build and a fresh and slightly effeminate face that makes him look younger than he actually is, he doesn’t enjoy the fact that most people see him as their eternal younger brother no matter their respective age.
Esmarian Notables
Vernel III sil Themarren
The young, ambitious, and some might say opportunistic prince of Themarren. Vernel’s dynasty has historically been one of the many princes that have laid claim to the vacant throne of Esmaria, citing in this case a complex web of royal marriages between the grand dukes and duchesses and the stewards of their most favored, most beautiful, and most prestigious of family homes.
While it’s unclear if Vernel himself seeks the Esmarian throne, the young prince has made recent diplomatic overtures to further cement his county’s status as the defacto center of Esmarian high society.
Henric II Konwell, Count of Konwell
An aging but still spritely (middle aged by our standards) scholar of some renown and Count of Konwell. Despite coming into power during the start of what would become the Fourth Lilac War, a momentous decades long conflict that made or broke various realms and dynasties, Henric’s several decade long rule is somehow best defined by his contributions to overhauling the sorting system of the imperial archives, as the count seemingly continues to be largely disinterested with managing his realm or its politics beyond the capital and a nominal fealty to the then emperor of Dameria during the Lilac wars.
The fact that he remained aware enough of the outside world to send envoys to sue for peace and negotiate more favorable terms during the closing days of the war is almost a miracle in itself, and it remains to be seen if the Scholar-Count’s realm can continue to maintain its independence, or properly recover from the ravages of war in the face of such indifference.
FactionsThe Silver Company
Brief Overview
An adventuring band turned professional mercenary company founded by Damerian veterans of the Lilac wars and surviving Adennic knights to deal with the two decade long atrocity that was the Greentide in the year AA 1427. The company earned a controversial reputation for cowardice and greed during the early days of the war, as while many other companies and marcher lords bled themselves dry with the struggle to contain and push the greentide back, or disbanded to rejoin their respective homeland’s forces as the Fourth Lilac war engulfed Cannor, the Silver Company instead chose to focus on the less glamorous work of escorting the constant flow of refugees into western Cannor, and are often accused of charging an overly steep price for their services as effective as they may be.
Perhaps in a bid to redeem his company’s reputation within Cannorian society, or out of a genuine desire to help end the greentide once and for all, the previous leader of the Silver Company, Actur of Tencfort had perhaps overcommitted during the closing days of the war, leading the bulk of his brave silver knights, and himself into a glorious death at the Battle of Castonath, leaving the decimated company largely rudderless until the revelation of Young Rogier’s true identity and purpose as Vivian Adenner, the sole member of her line.
Coat of Arms/Standard
The Silver Company’s standard is a ragged, stitched together patchwork of cloth torn from the coat of arms of every knightly house whose castle’s and homes that the Silver Company has helped defend or retake during the Greentide.
The County of Themarren
Once the favored home of many a river king and grand duke, Themarenn is… not quite a shadow of its former self, the riverbarges they send out are still grand and opulent sights to behold and lose yourself in, and the lake bearing their name is still as beautiful as ever, but the grand dukes are gone now, and the sprawling palatial complex is empty and falling into disrepair.
Their count, Vernel the third, is still nursing their people’s wounds after the moon party’s defeat in the fourth lilac war and trying to find out just what went wrong for the Esmari to lead them here, while eyeing the realms around him hungrily for any sign of weakness, or just cause that could strengthen his realm’s position.
The Free City of Giberd
A burgeoning metropolis mainly inhabited and managed by the Imperial Gnomish people, who settled here long ago as refugees from the destruction brought upon by the dragonwake in their ancient homeland of the Hierarchy, bringing with them the technological marvels and artificery of their people. Whilst the city was previously content with remaining mostly aloof and withdrawn from the politics of the greater empire, the destruction of Dameria and Esmeria, and the codification of the current slate of electors has led the city to express a desire at court to represent both Esmaria and the Gnomish people as the eight elector, although it remains to be seen if anyone would take this request seriously.
County of Telgeir
The County of Telgeir was granted to the noble Alenic house of Vanbury in 1363 for Tristan the first’s service to the imperial armies during the first Lilac War, he would then transform the county into the unofficial foundry of the empire, producing good quality arms and armor in vast quantities for anyone with enough coin, rivalled perhaps only by the Dwarven Hall-Electorate of Silverforge, also conveniently enough in Esmaria.
While the Vanburies have largely continued to choose the correct side in the Lilac wars, it remains to be seen if the fledgling county can continue to leverage its economic success to ensure its continuing relevance and independence in the aftermath of the fourth Lilac war.
Ryalan Temple
A temple turned theocratic princedom after the dissolution of the Grand Duchy of Esmaria. The temple is dedicated to the Regent Court virginal goddess Ryala (true love, beauty, purity), and is largely centered around the capital city/temple complex of Ryanlar. While they have maintained their relative independence from the other princedoms (they are still vassals of the Empire of Anbennar), their lands are the only things separating the three main holdings of the County of Themarren from each other….
Glossary of TermsGrand Duchy of Dameria
Once held as the rightful if contentious rulers of the Empire of Anbennar, the Grand Duchy of Dameria, and its ruling dynasty, the Silver Family of Munas (better known as the Silmuna dynasty) both came to a bloody end through the Four Lilac Wars, a nearly hundred year long struggle over the Emperorship of Anbennar and the throne of the neighboring Kingdom of Lorent that ultimately ended in their final defeat and the dissolution of Dameria into its constituent duchies barely a year ago in 1443.
While there are rumors of surviving Silmunas wandering Escann in search of a new kingdom to call their own (largely unsubstantiated unfortunately, much to the disappointment of many a Damerian adventurer), and a much maligned Rose party branch still rules from the Marquisate of Wesdam, it is clear that the glory days of Dameria, and the relevancy of the Silmunas are long gone, and likely never to return.
Dwarves
Long lived scions of a once great empire that fell long ago, the Dwarven people have traded and intermixed with the people of Cannor and Bulwar long before the upstart elves arrived on their shores, and swayed them away from the awe of their monumental constructs, cavernous holds, and fine works of metal with their maudlin magics and wit.
Although their political relevancy and unity were largely fading over time already after the home of all Dwarves were lost to the orcish hordes long ago (even before the Greentide), shattering their intercontinental trade networks and destroying valuable infrastructure and knowledge, and leaving nothing behind but a diaspora stemming from the few holds and halls cut off from the Serpentspine and Serpentreach mountains they once called home.
The dwarves bear a millenia long ancestral grudge against the orcish and goblinoid peoples, blaming the former for the destruction of Aul Dwarov by their ancestors, and the latter for the thousand years worth of conflict between the two species for control over the mountain ranges they both called home.
While a growing number of dwarves now yearn to reclaim their former homes, it remains to be seen if any of their efforts will bear fruit.
Elves
Long lived scions of a once great empire that fell long ago, the elven people arrived on Cannor and Bulwar after a thousand years of wandering the ocean in search of a new home after the violent destruction of their ancient home of Aelantir during the Day of Ashen Skies, splitting into two distinct groups that further fragmented over time.
The Cannorian elves claim descendancy from the fleet that followed Munas Moonsinger (Founder of the Silver Family of Munas), who led his people north into Cannor and earned the trust and respect of the local human population by joining them in their struggle against the Sorcerer-King Nichmer, and they have largely integrated and interbred into the local population, retaining independent enclaves only in the electorate of Moonhaven, and various elfrealms dotted around the region such as Ibevar.
The Bulwari elves claim descendancy from the fleet that followed Jaher ta’Diranhriá, a skilled warlord who led his people south to the arid realm of Bulwar, and helped the local Bulwari human population fend off the Harpy and Gnollish threat, who in turn forever immortalized him as their God turned Emperor, Surael reborn, who’s descendants have struggled to maintain control of their realms as near God kings, queens, and empresses ever since.
Notably in Cannor, outside of maintaining historically close ties with several noble dynasties throughout the region (most openly with the Silver families of Lorent, Dameria, Istralore, Arbaran, and Busilar, which has allowed elements of elven culture and language to propagate throughout high society), the elves have maintained their relevance by being the near sole practitioners of the fledgeling 9th magical tradition of Restoration, having inherited at least some of the Lifehand’s teachings within a voluminous and often meandering 1,500 page tome called ‘The Aelantiri Agriculture’ composed of a mixture of philosophical treatises, supposedly well preserved ancient elven myths, the cultivation practice of a various Aelantiri staple crops, exhaustive treatises on soil fertilization techniques (both magical and mundane) and an often excised but passionate rant about ‘disturbingly muscular Gerudian wolfmen’ that was written and compiled by one of her disciples.
While a growing number of elves now yearn to reclaim their former homes, it remains to be seen if any of their efforts will bear fruit.
The Empire of Anbennar
A largely decentralized elective monarchical empire ironically named ‘Unity’ that technically rules over most of southern and middle Cannor, the EoA was founded several hundred years ago by the mages of what would become the Magisterium as an attempt at ending the violent struggle for dominance between the various warlords that sprung up after the destruction of the Jexisian Phoenix Empire (long story). In that time the EoA would spend most of those several hundred years at war mostly with itself, over some prince’s claim to some other throne or some attempt at internal reform of leadership.
Still despite it all, the emperorship itself and the largely nominal rule over the unruly princes’ remains a fairly prestigious and coveted title, one that is currently held by the unpopular, but victorious Lothane sil Wex the Grand Duke of Wex after the destruction of Dameria in the Fourth Lilac War. While the Wexonard emperor reigns with the backing of the powerful Kingdom of Lorent, and his own powerful magic and prestigious realm at his side. It remains to be seen if his dynasty’s rule will be a lasting one.
Esmaria
A region in Cannor named after the goddess Esmaryal (of hearth, fertility, family, and health) and defined largely by the many bountiful rivers running along its length, and the years-long parties held every decade in the River Esmar. Esmaria is a densely populated land that was once united by the Grand Duchy bearing the same name until its dissolution into its constituent princedoms as a compromise between the many claimants to the suddenly vacated throne after a particularly bloody succession crisis during the first Lilac war almost a century ago.
While there are few still alive and ruling today who could remember the ‘good old days’ of its unification, there is no shortage of princedoms and claimants to the Esmari throne still vying for control of the region, and with the threat of the Greentide and the chaos of the Fourth Lilac war ended, it’s becoming increasingly clear that it’s just a matter of time before the dust settles enough before one prince or another will lay claim to the vacant throne once more…
Gnomes
A species native to Cannor often mistaken for the halflings, they are largely known for their skill and magic, and the fledgeling field of artificery which they lay claim to inventing, along with losing most of their former homeland to the kobolds in the Dragonwake.
Goblins
A species of little green men that were driven out of the serpentspine mountains into Escann and Bulwar by the Greentide, or taken there as slaves by the Orcish tribes/clans that had them. Most peoples still see them as being little better than the Agrados Spawn that Castan ‘Beastbane’ drove out of Escann and large parts of Bulwar long ago though, but just like the orcs that once persecuted them the goblins are capable enough of integrating into society if given the chance, but this soon after the Greentide though?
Humans
A species native and dominant to Cannor, Escann, Gerudia, and arguably Bulwar as well as many other places not worth mentioning here. Once upon a time the Escann based empire known as Castanor (or Castan’s Empire) ruled over most of humanity in Cannor, but the empire’s borders gradually contracted over time until its final, violent death during the rule of Nichmer the Sorcerer-King.
The greatest legacy left behind by Castanor’s long history is the Common language group, their network of fortresses and great works throughout Cannor and Escann (which now mostly lie in ruin or relative disrepair), and the great distaste most Cannorians have for the magic school of Enchantment.
Halflings
A species native to Cannor known for their small stature, wit, positive outlook, fine cuisine, and ongoing centuries long subjugation in their own homelands by the occupying Kingdoms of Lorent and Gawed.
Korgus Dookanson and the Greentide
Say his name and let that spit out of your mouth. Korgus Dookanson was a mortal orc who claimed divinity in order to unite his people, now forever marked green by his magic in order to launch what he believed would be a cleansing war against Cannor and its Gods to free his alleged father, the orcish patron god Dookan. What would become known as the Greentide was a two decade long atrocity that destroyed the various realms of Escann, including glorious Adenica itself in one intentional if chaotic campaign of cultural, and religious extermination.
The long nightmare he ushered into existence was only ended through the courage and sacrifice of Corin the Martyr of Escann (soon to be known as Corin the new Goddess of War) and the valor of the Marcher Lords and Adventurers who fought on her side as she slew him in the Battle of Castanoth, scattering his unified Greentide into many bickering tribes throughout Escann.
Kingdom of Adenica
The Kingdom of Adenica, birthplace of knighthood and chivalry, blessed protector of Escann and eternal enemies of those petty and now equally dead fools who worshipped a mere shiny blade, was a powerful and glorious kingdom wisely ruled by the Adenner family from the shining city of Taranton.
Renowned for the valor of its knights, and its championing of Adean, the regent court deity of Chivalry, duty, righteousness, and firstborn son of the head god Castellos, Adenica unfortunately fell to the Greentide, its brave and magnificent knights torn apart by the millions upon millions of orcs ravaging the countryside, and its people scattered throughout Cannor in search of refuge from the coming storm.
Orcs
A hardy and warlike people hailing from the serpentspine mountains. While the various orcish clans have largely contained themselves within the mountain range to pursue their strange, cultural affinity for a monomaniacal hatred of the dwarven people and their creations, the ascendancy of the orcish prophet/God son and warlord Korgus Dookanson and his new if controversial theology would change things forever. And soon millions upon millions of orcs, now branded with green skin to swear their allegiance to the Dookanson would pour out of the Serpentspine into Escann to launch a cleansing wave that they genuinely believed would free their patron God from his allegedly Regent Court pantheon forged bindings.
The atrocities committed against the Escanni peoples and the faith they shared with the rest of Cannor would forever change public perception of the Orcs from a mild reaving annoyance and Zoological footnote the dwarves sometimes complain about to the great enemy of all civilized peoples in Cannor, and while many orcs refused to follow the Dookanson, or opposed him outright (such as the Gray orcs who would settle in Vrorenmarch to the north of Escann), this distinction hardly matters for your average Escanni or Cannorian in the year 1444 AA.

Civi, Innovatio Imperii (civi) and all of the localization writers for creating the Themarren Mission Tree this is loosely inspired from (I did not complete it sorry), and definitivedoge for the still WIP reworked Giberd MT (I did not complete it sorry) that this also takes inspiration from. If you know what these contain before applying, no you do not.
And also everyone who maintains the Anbennar EU4 fandom wiki for your good work.
And lastly but most importantly, credit goes to Solymr, ElfCollaborator, SirAston, and many others for continuing to maintain and improve the Fire Emblem on the Forums system literally more than a decade after it was first made by Cecil, and also Elf again for making the version and supplement we are using, I have no idea why you are still doing this but thank you.

Unless I get a flood of applications, recruitment will be open until January 3rd because it's December, I have other projects, and I want more time to flesh out the rest of the plot and make maps, and as mentioned I am looking for around 6 people right now.
