Smelter Reactions: Corpses/Bones
« on: November 16, 2008, 05:06:00 am »

Yep, posting again. I am just full of questions tonight.

I would like to make some smelter reactions involving corpses, bones, and/or remains. Would these Reagent tags work?

Code: [Select]
[REAGENT:1:BONE:DWARF:BONE:NO_MATGLOSS]
[REAGENT:1:REMAINS:NO_SUBTYPE:NO_MATGLOSS]
[REAGENT:1:CORPSE:DWARF:NO_MATGLOSS

And if you're wondering what the hell I'm up to, the only answer I can give you is this; it's going to be fun.

First reagent needs to be [REAGENT:1:BONES:NO_SUBTYPE:BONE:DWARF]

Your second and third reagents are definitely wrong (needs 4 tokens, not 3), but I don't know how to fix them.  I have no idea what corpses and remains can use as their basic material type, or whether they use the creature name as item subtype or matgloss.

First attempt didn't work and just made the stuff anyway; after altering the tag to your specifications, the same result occurred.

Edit: Forgot to change the first "BONE" to "BONES". Retrying.

SUCCESS!! Although dwarf bones might be a bit more precarious, what with them being designated as graveyard corpses and having post-mortem dignity and all...

Alright, second try; corpse smelting.

CORPSE:NO_SUBTYPE:CORPSE:NO_MATGLOSS doesn't seem to work so far. Maybe CORPSES?

No, CORPSES doesn't work. Fiddlesticks. I assume there must be SOME kind of entry for corpses in reactions, if the currently-hidden reactions for other workshops are similar in structure to the ones we have now... maybe some .exe digging could find it.

Yeah, there has to be a corpse material type of some kind.  It would be pretty ironic if corpses were the only item that couldn't be produced by ITEMCORPSE.

Fire breath + ITEMCORPSE: Steel barrel = EX-TER-MI-NATE. EX-TER-MI-NATE.

Alas, I am mac-bound and incompetent in the ways of extreme modding! Somewhere a true modder can plunge the depths of the .exe for this!

Why would you need to look inside the .exe? The argument possibilities are right in the wiki.

Does [REAGENT:1:BONES:NO_SUBTYPE:BONE:NO_MATGLOSS] work if I want to use any kind of bone?

PLANT is a valid material token though (with plant name as the matgloss) and is also used for seeds and drinks.  Confusingly it's also an item token for regular harvested plants.

e: actually, I'm not sure about this anymore

If I remember correctly, this is the correct syntax for plant reactions:

[REAGENT:1:PLANT:NO_SUBTYPE:MUSHROOM_HELMET_PLUMP:NO_MATGLOSS]

If corpses work like plants do (possible, but not a certainity), it'd be something like this:

[REAGENT:1:CORPSE:NO_SUBTYPE:ELF:NO_MATGLOSS]

Also, the "matgloss tokens" page and the "item tokens" page on the wiki ought to be combined into one page. They used to be like that, but some idiot went and seperated them.

I just tried the plant one and it works.  Huh, I didn't know plant types could function as a main material in addition to a matgloss, that's strange.

The corpse one doesn't work, though.  I'm experimenting a little more now.

The pages should stay separate in my opinion.  Item and matgloss tokens serve very different roles.

e: no luck with CORPSE:ELF:ELF:NO_MATGLOSS either.  However, you can get elf meat with MEAT:NO_SUBTYPE:ELF:NO_MATGLOSS, so that much at least works like plants do.

Well, there's a fine line between meat and an entire corpse - have you tried this with remains yet? REMAINS:NO_SUBTYPE:ANY:NO_MATGLOSS?

EDIT: GUYS I MAY HAVE DONE IT

REMAINS:NO_SUBTYPE:DWARF:NO_MATGLOSS

I have all the other ingredients and it's not letting me do it...

Time to make some dwarf remains!

Also, CORPSE:NO_SUBTYPE:DWARF:NO_MATGLOSS allowed me to do the reaction without dead things, so that's out...

REMAINS:NO_SUBTYPE:DWARF:NO_MATGLOSS

Haha, apparently this isn't just for vermin corpses -- when applied to fullsize creatures, it creates chunks.  That's useful.  Still not corpses, though.
