Touhou Project
« on: April 09, 2009, 08:40:45 pm »

The Touhou Project is a series of 2D (with 3D background) vertically-scrolling danmaku shooting games made by Team Shanghai Alice, with two fighting game spinoffs co-produced with Tasogare Frontier. They are similar to regular shooting games, but focus more on weaving through complex patterns containing anywhere from dozens to hundreds of bullets. Every game in the Touhou series is set in the fantasy land of Gensokyo, and the series is known for its huge cast of characters, well-developed storylines, and related materials such as music CDs and fan-made comics.

I'm going to post more, but I have lost my sources.

Anyway, who plays this?

[For those who don't know: This is a hell-hard shooting game]

Some images:

the official site:
http://www16.big.or.jp/~zun/ is in tsuki-language, so use Google Translate.

Anyway, Touhou is made by one man, ZUN, just like Toady here.
I was surprised with the similarity.

Well the menus are in English so it won't really matter unless you want the plot.

I recommend downloading the official demos, they are actually quite large.

As a side note, Okenido,
have you played UFO (Touhou 12) yet?
The demo, I meant. Since the full ver. will be released in May.

Still... a long time to go.

I'm pretty sure they only announced it.

Last time I checked there wasn't a demo.

I thought I was good at the "dodge millions of projectiles" games, but now that I see a screenshot, it seems that this type of shooter is a bit harder than the ones I'm used to.

Try it, then?
Hmm... I'll give you PCB and IN demo. PCB is easier, so if you are 'experienced' you may want to try IN first.
As a side note: PLAY IN LUNATIC! ALWAYS!

The latest demo I can find is for 11.

I can see that it's out, but I'm having no luck at all finding it.

I've seen the game and it is fun

Though I think I like making fun of the game more. Especially since the story is downright rediculous.

It invokes awesomeification <##########> when used.

Seriously. I've never figured out a storyline to a Touhou game. It's just-- shrine maidens and witch girls and shapeshifters and demons and youkai and explosions!

The storyline is irrelevant; Marissa is charging her laser.
