OMG Backpacking trip this weekend, guys!

I've been wanting to go backpacking for years now, and I'm finally going! It's a farewell of sorts to a friend of mine, who is moving out of the state for grad school. We're heading down to Red River Gorge in Kentucky, and we're going to be hitting the trail on Friday afternoon, and wrapping it up Sunday night. I'm ill-equipped, have an injured back, and am totally inexperienced at backpacking, but I'm going to love the heck out of every minute of it, I'm certain!

Okay, I'm not sure how this works, but even thinking about it gives me a shiver.

I have a British passport, and my Uncle went to Cambridge. From what I've heard from him, this gives me automatic right of entry (legacy or... something, I don't know). I don't know if that's still how it works or if this is some prank, but Cambridge.

I am going. To study. At Cambridge.

And even if I don't have automatic right of entry, I've still got a British passport. I'm going to work to get into that place, no matter what it takes.

I had a good time drinking and eating for Cinco de Mayo (America will co-opt any holiday involving booze) and I bought this on my way home from work, so I'm doing my part Drone.

I break my back carrying freight around and it doesn't cover half the cost of going to a state-funded college.  If it weren't for a guaranteed fund set up before I was born, I'd be about a third of my way to a degree by now.

Of course, this is America I'm talking about, the World Capital of Price Gouging.  I know absolutely nothing about the British educational system though.
