Head pain continues for the 4th day in a row. Right now, it's only a dull throbbing about an inch in and above my right eyebrow... but when it gets bad, the area around my right eye gets inflamed, and it feels like there's a knife jammed through my orbital socket.

Dad sent me a bundle of painkillers he couldn't use anymore because of the meds he's on. I appreciate the gesture, but I'd already mentioned it didn't respond to anything I'd tried in the past. Just ice packs, and vasodilation via caffeine.

Canada, can I borrow your socialized medicine for a minute? I would rather like to see a neurologist, I think.

That sounds like a bad sinus infection.

Unless I've had a sinus infection on and off for 6 years, which never changes location, rises and falls in intensity every day, causes blood vessels to pinch my optic nerve, and makes skin and tissue around my eye socket inflamed, (none of which are things sinus infections normally do, to my knowledge) it's something else.

Also, sorry if I'm grumpy. It got a lot worse since I last posted. Trying to keep a log of the times it hits, what I was doing, and the pressure/humidity conditions I was surrounded by, to help diagnose what's triggering it. Gets hard to focus when it gets bad.

Have you seen a doctor about it?

I've only brought it up during a visit to an optomotrist, and at the last general physical I was able to afford. Physician was highly concerned about what he saw when looking into the back of my eye, and referred me to a Neurologist. However, that referral was immediately prior to when I lost access to medical insurance, and thus it became prohibitively expensive to see any doctor for anything, much less a specialist.

Kind of got to hold off on that option unless I'm literally dying, as things sit. I'd like to not be in debt for the rest of my life because I needed an MRI. I am looking into ways to participate in university research to get a free MRI, though.

Huh? How do you know that?

So, red or swollen or itchy or... well, what, specifically?

I've only brought it up during a visit to an optomotrist, and at the last general physical I was able to afford. Physician was highly concerned about what he saw when looking into the back of my eye, and referred me to a Neurologist.

Specifically, he saw inflammation of the blood vessels around the optic nerve. As for other specifics, my skin is very slightly swollen and hot to the touch in a rough triangle, from above the eyebrow to the back of the ear to the cheekbone. Eye is bloodshot, as well as light- and pressure-sensitive. Pain is sufficient to make thinking and focusing difficult, akin to an icepick coming in through the frontal bone above the eyebrow, through the orbital socket, and back to somewhere behind the right ear (some overlap with the pain of a sinus/ear infection, with other parts different). I suffered a fracture of the skull in roughly the same location when I was a kid, which could possibly be related.

Pain does not respond to pain killers, but does respond to dilation of blood vessels and reduced blood-pressure. When aggravated, it surges and fades every day for weeks at a time. It's been mild but persistent for the last 2 years, and intermittent for about 6. Most days it's mild enough that I can ignore it, but it seems to become aggravated on days when I skip meals, since I've taken to eating 1-2 meals in a day.

That's about all the specifics I've got.

Do you know if Obama care is going to make health care a reasonable possibility for you? I know it's been a thing for you for a long time, but it does sound pretty disconcerting.

Cought some sort of cold or sore throat in the last two days, nose is constantly clogged up and runny while my throat feels as if sand papered.

Just the damn thing I needed to start me off, I really need to get some damn house slippers since my last ones mysteriously disappeared two months ago.

Was reading through Onion articles from the not-to-distant past, and came across this. I laughed when I first read it, then slowly felt more and more depressed about it.

Right, so, I had a moment where I realized I'm the kind of guy who people don't like. For some reason. I don't know why.
Also --though still related to the above, this deserves its own mention-- jealousy. Argh. Such a stupid emotion.

Can't find screenshot LPs of several old games I'm enver going to find the time or machoism to play through. Trivial matter, of course, but still saddening.
