-Ghosts; When a fortress dwarf is not properly burried there is a chance a dwarven ghost will spawn (unkillable). The ghost will act entirely on its own, its actions may be effected by it's personality. If it was antisocial in life it will scare dwarves more often, if frendly it will rarely scare dwarves. It may cause mischief such as deciding to move objects around. It can also scare off intruders.
-New office; Scientist. I find it really silly that any dwarf nomatter how stupid knows how to make anything. Advanced technologies like ballista should require a sciencedwarf. How good of a science dwarf it is effects what technologies are available, and partly effects how long it takes to build.
Mining Hazards:
-Natural gas deposits; found in large sealed off reserves like magma, exept when you first break into it causes a catastrophic explosion and releases suffocating gas similar to maisma. Luckily all is not over, because the explosion often causes a cave-in, re-sealing the gas deposit.
-Steam vents; causes injury or death to the dwarf who first breaks into it. Can be diverted into pipes or used to turn a fan to power things.
-Hot Lava; Being within 3 blocks distance from magma for too long causes heat stroke. Making adamantine more of a challenge to get. Dwarves drink more and automatically leave the area when they get too hot, mining is done in short shifts. If ice is present they mine normally.
Items:
-Blackpowder; (greatly needed IMO) China had explosives long before industrialization. It is created with alchemy. It is stored in a barrel. It can spontaneously explode if stored too long. It rarely produces usable stones when used to mine. Use: *the much needed catalyst *mining hard rock (when thats implemented)* mining multiple squares at once* delayed mining such as light fuse, run, place floodgate, barrel explodes, water is released and contained, dwarves are dry * destroying walls and buildings (invaders can also bring powderkegs to use against you)* [perhaps could be used in wooden/stone cannons (thers no technology for casting large metal objects), they have a chance to explode when used, damage varies depending on weight of material used for cannon ball (solid gold cannonball, shiny yet painfull) ]
-Acid; alchemy, when used on enemies it can destroy items. Use: *for traps *For melting vertical shafts in some stone* when dumped on corpse, produces bones, or destroys corpse * When placed next to exploding powderkeg causes very nasty acid fog
