but neither does the one declaring that toady should do a bug fix every week.
well, there are more than 10 new bugs reported everyday, so fixing only one bug a week would be too little...
he should fix at least one bug per day, and one community chosen bug per week.

You have a perfect place to say so. It's called the bug tracker.
yeah, i'm a heavy user of it and frustrated from seeing the ignorance from toady's side.
You know The Grand Toad in The Sky is one person who also does new features and most games have whole teams just for bug locating. Your fix would make another bug pop out somewhere else. This is alpha; likely the most stable alpha I've touched.

There is a place to vote for bugs getting fixed -- it won't (As has been mentioned before) be a silver bullet, but just put your vote on the bugs in the voting on suggestions mantis site.  Some bugs are on there and I have voted for some of them.  Some have gotten fixed, some may not for a while -- but if you want to put your request via numbers that's the place.
do you have a link? i have not found any voting facility on the bugtracker.

Still on top; there's a reason I update on bugfix updates only.

What are you talking about? 31.17 is possibly more stable in Fortress mode than any of the previous .31 releases (not to mention that speaking of it is pointless as it's completely redundant now). There are far better examples for you to select, if you must do such a thing.

Crashes in an alpha aren't the venal sin you make them out to be, especially when they're patched out with a quickness, while new content is being added.

The matter simply boils down to this: You're unhappy that Toady isn't working on the specific things you want.  Regardless of the fact that he is patching out bugs left and right, your displeasure is simply how you feel.   While faster progress is always better, people here overwhelmingly understand that Toady is just one man, doing a project he derives joy from first and income second.  Toady, while still grinding bugs out of the way, has decided it would be fun for him, and keep his interest in the project alive, to try a different tack for a while- an especially neglected one (that you've erroneously addressed as being his primary goal, without addressing when I corrected you).

And being unhappy is fine.  I'll ignore some of your less obvious logical flaws, but trying to say Toady'd rather fix typos than 'real bugs', when this has been proven false, and similar untruths, is just trying to rile people up.   And, since people here tend to follow the ins and outs of the development of DF with more studiousness than should be considered sane, people are rightfully calling you out as basically throwing a tantrum.  Which isn't fine.

There were more severe bugs than, say, the weapon trap crash in previous versions (dwarfs never waking up? Spending entire seasons eating and drinking?) that were actually completely gamebreaking (as opposed to locking out a specific feature). Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean I can describe those versions as "less stable", but the bugs involved had more of an impact on gameplay.

I don't think that toady should be forced to do anything, though it would be nice if he did seem a bit more open to bug fix suggestions from players, for instance, if a creature is assigned to a cage, pit, or rope, but is qued to be milked, then a hauler and a milker fight over the animal forever trying to take it to it's proper spot... that kinda breaks the entire miking industry.  But anyways, no he shouldn't have to do what we want, it'd just be nice if he'd try and clear the bugtracker before moving onto an entirely new part of the game, he's gonna end up with soo many bugs getting covered over and quick-fixed, that the game is going to end up unplayable, and unfixable in a few years.

That would kill the project, if you got it to work somehow, the opposite of your plan. And lets say there is no fix, then what?

Sure sounds like the logic of the Minecraft DDOS whingers around here.

Tell me, anallyst, have you donated to Toady?

This has no bearing on the discussion because donations have no bearing on what Toady does or doesn't do. Outside of the creation of ASCII or crayon art.

It does, because it's laughable to suggest
my idea was initiating a donation boycott, if he don't fixes the bug of the week >:V
If he doesn't already donate, and receives DF for free, which already has bugs fixed daily (and bugs introduced by new features & bug-fixing, but lol-alpha).
