When we last left our hero, he had just entered Petalburg, the town ruled by his father.Petalburg Knowing his father would be in the town's Gym, CONAN went there immediately after he was finished with Wulfgar's pyre. The Gym was in the northern section of town, a large and modern building. The automatic sliding doors parted, and CONAN saw the father he hadn't seen for three long years.CONAN: Father! Is that you?
CONAN's Father: Why are you asking? Do you not recognize me?
The doors shatter as a scrawny boy of about 10 winters jump-kicks his way into the room.Wally: My name's Wally, and I'm here to get myself a Pokemon! I'm old enough now, and I'm ready to KICK SOME ASS.
CONAN's Father: What? Just get one from Professor Birch in uh....
CONAN: Littleroot town!
CONAN's Father: Yes, that is where my family lives happily! Anyway, just go there.
Wally: I was supposed to leave for Verdanturf to master Kung-Fu ten minutes ago. I just don't have that kind of time!
CONAN's Father: Fine. Take this Zigzagoon, and CONAN will show you how it's done
Wally and CONAN exit the gym and head east, to the wilderlands of Route 102.
Route 102: No Survivors
After rustling through the brush for a few minutes, CONAN spots a green and white creature gnawing on the bones of a recently-dead Zigzagoon. It is a ghastly sight, but nutrition is important.CONAN signals to Wally, and Wally immediately rushes over, assuming a fighting stance.CONAN: Wally, stand aside. Now is the time for the feasting of swords. Take this Pokeball, and throw it as soon as I give the signal.
CONAN draws his broadsword and rushes into battle with the Ralts. The Ralts teleports incessantly, dodging every swing of CONAN's sword. Eventually it tires, however, and CONAN lands a telling blow that nearly cleaves it in twain.CONAN: Throw it now, Wally! Quick!
Wally throws the Pokeball and catches the Ralts easily; it is too weak to put up a struggle.CONAN: Good job. You'll have to bring that to a hospital pretty quickly. I'm not sure how long it'll last in that state.
Wally: That was awesome! Shouldn't you have used your Pokemon, though? To show me how to catch one?
CONAN: My Pokemon are not expendable. I won't have their lives threatened for your gain. You assume much, thinking that I would throw away my companion's lives to gain one for you. For now, just be glad that you have something to protect yourself with. You shall need it.
Wally: I'm going to kill you one day. For now I must leave for Verdanturf, but I'll be a master eventually! Just you wait!
The ensuing silence was a thousand times more uncomfortable than a thousand uncomfortable eagles.
...
CONAN did not like uncomfortable silences. They made him angry. Seething with rage, he led Wally back to the gym.CONAN's Father: CONAN? Why are you covered in... uh...
CONAN: The blood of my enemies? Why not?
CONAN's Father: I find blood distasteful. So messy.
CONAN eyes his father suspiciouslyWally: I have to run next door to the Pokemon Center. CONAN nearly murdered my Ralts.
Wally runs out of the building, crying.CONAN: I must collect all the Gym Badges to challenge the Elite Four. Are you prepared?
CONAN's Father: Yes, but you are not. Show me four badges, and then we will fight. I can't fight my own son before he's learned how to be a man. Besides, your team looks like it could use some more training.
The Gym Leader suddenly stares at CONAN's Ralts, who has been watching him during the whole conversationCONAN's Father: Yes... your team could learn something too.
CONAN: Fine then, I'll be back soon. Where's the next town?
CONAN's Father does not take his eyes off of the RaltsCONAN's Father: Rustboro. Take the road to the east and head through the woods, you'll get there eventually.
CONAN leaves town quickly, having bought a new stock of healing items, including many antidotes to help him and his comrades survive the numerous bugs that dwell in the deep forests. He heads West, to Route 104.Route 104 On route 104, Boudica shows her new strength by crushing the Pokemon of Youngster Billy without taking a hit. The battle was over before it started, really. Boudica confused Billy into running in circles across the beach during the battle instead of controlling his Pokemon, and the Seedot and Taillow were defenseless against her psychic attacks.Rich Boy Winston stood outside the entrance to Petalburg Woods, confident that he had a lot of money. This changed when CONAN left him bleeding in the dirt, his face scratched at by Hrothgar until he had given up half his money in exchange for his life. CONAN had to squeeze as much money as he could out of the so-called 'civilized' folk that had no respect for the finality of death. The money would go towards proper medicine and healing, like it should have originally.CONAN was about to enter the darkness of Petalburg woods, a terrifying realm of crawling insects and the children who captured them. Though he had prepared for this journey, little did he know how much this venture would cost him.
