There is no longer a "race list", so to speak. I originally planned on adding races as we befriend them, but that was a bit odd/dumb in the long run. Also, the game system is currently in a state of flux so I'm not going to plot out exact skill and stat details here (yet). Instead, I will give a general list of races that are acceptable to play as! Fortunately, they're not the only options. Some are still off-limits, though.
Kingdom racesThese races comprise the Mushroom Kingdom's main forces. Basically, they're very numerous. They're not as attuned to magic, though.
Human: The race most curious about the workings of the world. They're the quickest learners. They gain one extra stat point per level, are able to level up their abilities faster than anyone else, and can materialize the fiery spirit that inhabits them. However, this comes at the cost of starting with five less MP than most races.
Toad: Originally a barbaric race, they were assimilated into Human culture some time hundreds of years ago. They're not as sharp as Humans, but they're the best at utilizing weaponry. At lower levels they can make a dire attack and take more hits, but later on they can learn to wield enormous or multiple weapons with ease. Unfortunately, they suffer from the same -5 MP deficiency Humans do.
Forces of DarknessThese are common enemies in the Mushroom Kingdom who have had a change of heart and now seek to help the heroes for their own reasons.
Goomba: Despite lacking arms, Goombas have evolved to directly manipulate the world around them using ambient magic. At low levels they can easily regenerate MP making them magical powerhouses, but later on they're able to meld together two items through sheer force of will.
Koopa: Koopas are quick to hide in their shell when push comes to spin, reducing damage. They each have a specific color of shell (green, red, yellow or blue) which signifies the fighting style they're naturally comfortable with.
Boos: Boos are fragile tricksters who can manipulate darkness. They can fly over damaging terrain unhindered. Much like Gloombas, they're very magic-attuned and make excellent spellcasters but poor melee fighters.
Yoshi: Yoshis are loyal, dino-like creatures. They can eat weakened enemies and turn them into eggs to be thrown or spit them back out at other foes. They have a high base Move stat of 4, and other characters can ride them to take advantage of their speed.
Shy Guy: Shy Guys are incredibly adaptable ground forces. They always hide behind a mask. At low levels they gain resistance to many common status effects and the ability to easily sneak up on enemies by disguising themselves. Later on they're able to transform their very body itself into one of many variations by utilizing the items they collect.
