Hello b12!
Me and my rarely seen buddy Kujiun have finaly got a maptools server up and running. Now we
could run Pathfinder seeing as we have the books, but it seems like there are already quite a few 3.5ish games around.
Instead we would like to take you back to your childhoods with this:
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Pokemon_Tabletop_AdventuresThats right! A homebrew tabletop game staring every-bodies favorite late 90's/early 00's (heh or present) obsession: Pokemon!
The 1d4chan page should have links to the game files. Go ahead and give it a quick browse, and post here if you are interested in joining. I could dream up a standard gotta catch em all/beat the leauge/defeat the evil team senerio, or I could get creative and use a more exotic setting.
Just tell me what class you would like to play, and what days/times you would be available (I'm thinking Wed or Fri for the first couple sessions and then seeing what happens when school starts). I don't have alot of experience with GMing in general, but a vast majority has come from running this game. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Important:
Character Creation Rules:
Trainer Level 0
No Starter (Will be chosen by mystery dungeon style personalty quiz)
Don't forget to give your trainers a bio. They can be from any field, and may have worked with Pokemon before, but they should not have any real experience battling/cordinating Pokemon.
Submit your character sheets to Kuji, first 5 valid characters get to play and if we have many more than that we might have to run a second weekly overflow session. (Forward them to me once they are valid Kuji)
Introduction:
"Fasten your seat-belts people. We are going to be experiencing some turbulence."
You lean back in your seat, at least you get to fly first class. The airline is pretty good too: You get a personal TV for your seat. You browse through the channels, but keep flipping back to VULPIX, one of the major networks. Your nerves heighten; the commercial is on again.
The screen shows a desert, with two shadowy shapes fighting through a sandstorm and walking in the direction of the camera. "15 ordinary people from around the world..." a deep voice announces.
The shot changes to show a murky lake from above, suddenly the silhouette of a person riding a large sea-serpent dashes across the screen, under the water. "Will embark on an incredible Pokemon adventure..."
Once again the picture shifts, showing a cloudy sky. A large bird quickly tows a human on a hang glider across the shot, but both figures are obstructed by the clouds. "They will all be tested..."
The picture fades out slowly and reveals a packed Pokemon stadium. "Only 5 will earn the right to enter this years Pokemon Grand Championship..." the anouncer declares as the camera slowly zooms in on one of the battleing trainers. He is obiously male, but most of his facial features are obstructed by the shadow of his baseball cap's rim. The trainer reaches up and tilts his hat to the side, and the camera follows, preventing you from getting a good look at his face. "...And only one" the voice declares "will get a shot to be the best!"
The screen then shows a picture of battle action shots in rapid succession; A Bulbasaur firing leafs at an archery target, a female trainer on a canoe thrusting a spear into a Sharpedo, a Dragonair and Arbok entwined and attempting to constrict each other, a Machamp chokeslaming a Hitmonchan and a Hitmontop at the same time, a Blastoise disolving a gravler into rubble with a hydro pump, and a Venusaur charging up a solarbeam.
The camera pans out from the Venusaur revealing an opposing Serperior preparing a solarbeam as well. Both pokemon unleash their attacks and the beams collide causing the screen to white out before fading to black. "So You Wanna be the Best?" exclaims the anouncer declares as the exact same words appear on screen. "Premiers tomorrow after Will O'Mally's special report on how liberal crime squads are ruining this country. Only on VULPIX."
You take a deep breath to calm your nerves. You are one of the 15 chosen to compete on the show, and are currently being flown with 5 other contestants to an undisclosed location to compete for a shot to enter the worlds premier pokemon tournament.
A flight attendant, obviously understand who you are and where you are going offers all the attendants a cocktail. "Good luck." she says with a smirk. "You are going to need it!"
