Artifact/ bismuth pick
« on: September 09, 2011, 10:29:05 am »

My weaponsmith created a bismuth pick in a strange mood. My question now is: would it make sense to give the pick to someone that i want in my military? It an artifact weapon after all. But i dont know the properties of bismuth alone. Help please :)

Picks use the mining skill for fighting. If you want to train a legendary miner without mining stone, you could just draft them and have them train/sit in the danger room.

Drelon, you might want to check out the raws for bismuth versus the weapons-grade metals.  I don't actually know the mechanics of how weapons work (as in, which entry in the metal raws corresponds to the weapon's attack) but from a quick look at the raws, bismuth is an order of magnitude worse than steel in general, though a bit more dense.

Well, you could test it before completely dismissing it.  Change bismuth so that it can be used for weapons, do some arena testing?

Could be good in a weapon trap.

AFAIK bismuth has the same stats as bronze. Honestly though, I'd just put in in a weapon trap in the dining room.

If it has the same stats as bronze, then a bismuth pick is an excellent weapon. Hell, a copper or silver pick is a good weapon. They punch through armor well and can sever things well. Picks are scary good. Only drawback is they it is not considered a military skill.

I did slashing/light armor testing for each material. It's all very extensive (took 8 hours) and I consider it to be accurate.
Check my sig.
Bismuth isn't too bad, and in the hands of a skilled miner (plus the artifact bonus), it'll be fine.
