QoL mods

Where can I download the QoL mods if I have the non-Steam version?
I'm looking for mods to save work settings and improve the stock listing, as in showing all items of the same kind in one entry instead of having them listed one by one. It would also be nice if there was a mod to re-organize the menu of available materials to build into wood/stone/metal/glass etc and then expanding into each subtype.

It sounds like you want DFHack.  Non-Steam Download, Discussion thread.

DFHack adds hotkeys to save/load work details and standing orders, and to shrink down the stocks menu, and it has an extension that reworks the way construction materials are selected.

DFHack comes with extensive documentation to explain everything you need.

On the Labor/Work Details tab, DFHack adds a little popup that shows its added keys.  Ctrl+e to Save work details, Ctrl+i to Load work details, Ctrl+a to toggle automatically Load for new embarks.

For the Stocks window, DFHack adds a little popup that shows its added keys.  Ctrl+x collapses all of the individual items into their item types.

For buildings and constructions, DFHack has an automatic replacement for the normal selection window.  It's called the Planner.

By default, it lets you choose materials by categories (like any type of wood or any type of stone) or drill down to item types (like pear wood or marble).  You do that with the f key to edit filter.

There's directions on the screen, you can click categories or item types with the mouse, or use hotkeys to select/deselect categories, or use the up/down arrow and enter to select/deselect item types, or type a word (like almond or shale) to filter the item type list.

The chosen materials are 'sticky' for each building type or construction type, so you don't have to e.g. re-enter them for every wall you build.

In addition, there is a Global settings tab that lets you choose what classes of items to include in the lists.  If you never want to build out of boulders, for example, you can turn boulders off.

Once you get to know it, it's pretty simple.

Thanks!!
For some reason, the planner only shows when wanting to build some items, but not with workshops.
The orders menu is also unchanged. It still displays all kinds of wood without grouping them into one category and then subcategories.

Hm.  It shows up when I build workshops.  Do you get the words 'show Planner' on the standard interface button labeled 'Select material after placement' ?  You can click on that to get the Planner.

What kinds of things can you build using the Planner?

Not really sure which menu you mean, but it probably hasn't been enhanced.  It takes a fair bit of work to make one of these overlays.

I thought you were talking about the Stocks menu (opened by the (Stocks) button at the top center of the main screen, or by the k key).
