Remember When?

When they let Meph go because a random 16x16 sprite in his thousands strong tileset he made for free years ago had maybe one sprite that was heavily edited from a google image that no one gives a fuck about.

Before the Steam release, his tileset was THE tileset.

All these years later im still irritated at the fans backing up a corporation instead of saying whats right: Who gives a fuck, it was a free tileset, let the dude work. Instead of forcing him to retire from the community despite the decade or more of free content he provided.

Factually, it was more than one sprite, evidently people did "give a fuck about" them, and having a Patreon open did complicate the "for free" aspect. Meph also left of own accord, and he's welcome back anytime he wants.

Never used Meph's tileset or tried Masterwork DF, but I got curious and dug around a bit and found it ironic that OP was the one who reported Meph's Patreon to be taken down for their long absence. OP also never replied when Meph finally broke silence and gave a very frank explanation and expressed contrition for the absence.

Also, OP posted a similar thread on Steam as well where even less people would've known who Meph is. And why now all of a sudden?

Ah, that's true, how peculiar. It was 7 years ago though, and the stuff that led to Meph leaving happened in the years between (in 2021, I believe. 2020?). I guess they just recently returned to the forum/community.

Does that check out, Angron?

Thats true, but since i made that post, he returned to modding. Created a new extensive tileset, bundled it with LNP along with more changes he made. So personally, any beef i had with him having a patreon wasnt there anymore.

So not really relevant with what happened to him recently.

A slimey tileset creator (we know who) decided to muck-rake through someones FREE tileset just to get him in trouble. Especially was frustrating at that time because there was no alternative to meph's tileset, in terms of depth and quality and DFsteam was not released yet.
